Patterned Paper Happy Birthday Card with Verve Great Friend Flowers

I really liked the mint green and pink paper I found in the DCWV Happy Day 12 x 12 Paper Pack and decided to use it for the background of this birthday card.

I cut a rectangle of flowered patterned paper with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  There was a pretty coordinating diagonal strip paper that I thought would make a pretty accent, so I cut another rectangle from this paper.  I pulled the border die from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes to create a narrow strip, which allowed it to have stitching on all sides.  This was adhered to the left of the flower rectangle with Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.  Since I would be using other gold embellishments on the card I used a thin strip of Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and adhered it using Ranger Multi Medium Matte at the seam where the two patterned papers met.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller than the patterned paper rectangle and adhered to the back to add dimension when applied to the cardbase.

As a focal image to the card front two different sized flowers from the Verve Great Friend Stamp Set were stamped on pale pink cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat set with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  Since there is not a matching die for this stamp they were fussy cut with the Cutter Bee fine detail scissors.  For added interest Copic Marker R21 was used to add depth to the flower centers.  The smaller flower was adhered to the larger with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  I used some green vellum from my stash to die cut leaves with the Memory Box Lorelai Leaf Poppy die.  Copic Marker G24 was used to add depth to the leaves and then they were glued to the back of the flowers with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The sentiment is a die cut from Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Happy.  I used Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and cut it again with Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam, with the sticky side up.  If you do not remove the fun foam word and leave it in place and only remove the backing it makes it easy to align both the gold cutout and the foam words together.  The die cut word was placed on the patterned paper rectangle to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment, which is from Winnie & Walter, The Big, The Bold, and Party set.  It was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat set with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The “happy” die cut was glue just above using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

A top folding cardbase was created from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the patterned paper rectangle, with the adhered sentiment was added to the base with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The flower and leaf cluster was adhered to the lower right with the same glue and the card was done.

Patterned Paper and Hero Arts Thank You Card

Patterned paper can be used to create a quick and easy card that is still clean and simple by adding focal interest with dies.

For this card I die cut a rectangle of patterned paper from the DCWV Happy Day 12 x 12 Paper Pack with Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. Since the flowers in the patterned paper had gold foil centers I decided to used Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock for the sentiment.  I used the large Thank You from Hero Arts.  It was cut again from Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam.  I like to cut it so the sticky side is up.  It makes it easy to adhere the two die cuts together and adds great dimension.

Since the sentiment was cut from gold mirror cardstock, I decided to add a rectangle of the same cardstock behind the patterned paper rectangle.  I used a paper trimmer to cut a rectangle 1/8″ larger and adhered the two together using Sookwang 1/2″ Scor-Tape.

I wanted to add some interest to the front of the card and so I went to my stash of vellum and found a light pink and green that matched the color of the flowers and leaves in the patterned paper.  I selected a couple of the flowers and leaves from My Favorite Things Stitched Flowers and die cut them from the vellum.  To add interest to the flowers I turned them over and added shading to the flower and leaf centers with Copic Markers R21 and G21.  The two flowers were adhered together with a foam circle from my stash.  The leaves were adhered to the back of the bottom flower with Ranger Multi Medium Matte since the glue wouldn’t been seen through both layers of vellum and the flower center would cover the majority of where they were adhered.  The flower center was cut from gold mirror cardstock and adhered with the same multi medium matte.

It was now time to assemble the card.  A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The patterned paper/mirror gold rectangle was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue. The gold mirror sentiment was adhered to the top of the card with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the flower and leaf cluster was adhered with the same glue to the bottom right of the card front.  I liked the way it turned out and I really liked that I was using some of my patterned paper stash.

Patterned Paper Hi Card

This is the second hello/hi card created from Pink Paislee Pen Pals Correspondants 12 x 12 Paper Pad.

I die cut a rectangle of the hello patterned paper with Simon Says stamp stitched Rectangles.  A strip of pink diagonal paper from the same paper pack was cut with a paper trimmer and applied to the left side of the rectangle with Tombo Mono Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.

A heart was die cut with Papertrey Ink Heart Prints from the same pink striped paper.  The word “hi” is from the My Favorite Things Happy Hello Die set and was cut from gold glitter cardstock and applied in the center of the pink diagonal heart with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The heart sentiment was then adhered to the hello patterned paper on a diagonal in the bottom right of the rectangle with 3M 1/2″ foam tape.  Three smaller hearts were cut from gold glitter cardstock and scattered around the larger heart and adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

To transition between the patterned papers forming the rectangle a thin strip of gold glitter cardstock was cut with a paper trimmer and adhered between the two with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Navy Cardstock.  Since the patterned paper was thin cardstock liquid glue can sometimes be seen through the paper when it dries.  To eliminate this possibility, 1/2″ Sookwang Scor-Tape was added to the back of the rectangle and then placed on the navy cardbase.

A quick and easy card made with patterned paper.

Patterned Paper Hello Card

Lately I’ve been on a kick of using patterned paper for cards.  I am a sucker for patterned paper packs.  It use to be that every time I would go into a store that had them I would browse through the packs and usually brought one home. I’ve had to curb this addiction because I have a lot of patterned paper that doesn’t get used very much because I like clean and simple cards.  So the challenge has been to create clean and simple cards that use some of my patterned paper.

I needed a couple of hello cards to welcome some new move-ins at church. I found some great hello paper in the Pink Paislee Pen Pals Correspondants 12 x 12 Paper Pad and decided to use this for the background.

I die cut a rectangle of the paper with Simon Says stamp stitched Rectangles, and to break up the busyness of the background, a strip of pink diagonal paper from the same paper pack was cut with a paper cutter and applied to the left side of the rectangle with Tombo Mono Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.  Since the patterned paper has a white background I cut some Gina K. Designs 120# Navy Cardstock 1/8″ larger than the stitched rectangle and adhered the two together with the same adhesive.

The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things Happy Hello Die and was cut from the pink striped paper and again three additional times from the navy cardstock.  All were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then adhered to the bottom right of the rectangle with the same glue. Since the patterned paper has lots of tiny hearts, the Simon Says Stamp Holiday Shapes die was used to die cut three hearts from the navy cardstock and adhered around the word sentiment.

To finish the card a top folding cardbase was created from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was adhered to the back of the focal image rectangle and then applied to the front of the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Patterned Paper Birthday Card with My Favorite Things Party Balloons

This is the last birthday card I created by using patterned paper from the Paper Studio Eat Cake Paper Pack.  As you will see from my previous posts, I’ve created four very different cards from the same paper pack.

For this card I die cut a balloon patterned paper with a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle, but decided that I wanted to leave the bottom of the cardbase without any patterned paper for the sentiment, so I ran it through the Big Shot again to form a square.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back for dimension and then adhered to a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Since the background paper is balloons, I used balloon dies from My Favorite Things Party Balloons and Lawn Fawn Party Balloons, along with the balloon strings from Lawn Fawn, out of glitter cardstock.  The chevron green paper is from Paper Studio Eat Cake, the orange and yellow are from Paper Studio Glitter Paper Pack, and the strings are from some gold glitter cardstock I had in my stash.  These were adhered to the front of the patterned paper square with Ranger Multi Medium Matte, with the exception of the chevron balloon which was adhered with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to add dimension.

For the sentiment a Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy die was cut from the same chevron green glitter cardstock and three additional times from white cardstock.  All were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue. The word cutout was laid at the bottom of the cardbase to determine placement for the secondary sentiment from Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold, and Party stamp set.  It was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The die cut “happy” word was then adhered above it with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

I thought the card would be done, but I didn’t like the transition from the patterned paper to the sentiment at the bottom, so I cut a thin strip of gold glitter cardstock and adhered it underneath the patterned paper with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and liked the way this finished the card.

Patterned Paper Birthday Card with Sizzix Birthday Cake

This is another card made with patterned paper to create a background for the die cut image.  This was a quick and easy design, except that I couldn’t get the cake to look the way I wanted.  What I finally settled on was accenting the die cut with Inktense Pencils and a Dove Blending Pen to add dimension.

I die cut the patterned paper from Paper Studio’s Eat Cake Paper Back with a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  I then used the stitched edge from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes to cut the patterned paper on an angle so that I could create an area on the cardbase for a sentiment, removing 5/8″ of an inch.

A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the patterned paper was place on top to determine where to stamp the sentiment, which is from My Favorite Things Big Birthday Sentiments, and stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black, using the MISTI.  Once the sentiment was in place, Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was cut and adhered to the back of the patterned paper.  Tombo Mono Multi Glue was used to adhere the two pieces to the cardbase.

The cake is from Sizzix Birthday Cake Stamps and Matching Dies and was cut from glitter cardstock.  The separate pieces were adhered together with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  Dimension was added to the die cut with Inktense Pencils and then it was added to the card front with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape and the card was done.

Patterned Paper Birthday Card with Sizzix Balloons and Cupcake

Patterned paper can create the sentiment for your card and allow you to create a card quickly.  Utilizing die cut images that match the paper used add interest.  This card was made with paper from Paper Studio’s Eat Cake Paper Pack.

A rectangle of patterned paper was cut using Simon Says Stitched Rectangles.  The cupcake is from the Sizzix Balloons and Cupcake Stamp and Die set adn was cut from glitter cardstock matching the patterned paper and glued together using Ranger Multi Medium Matte, which is strong enough to adhere to the rough surface of glitter cardstock.  Once the cupcake was assembled 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the die cut and then adhered to the patterned paper.  To accent the green in the cupcake a rectangle of green glitter cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger than the patterned paper rectangle and both were adhered together with Sookwang Scor-Tape.

A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The focal image rectangle was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.  Simple, quick, and very easy.

Patterned Paper Birthday Card with Simon Says Stamp You Matter

It is fun to create some quick and easy birthday cards with patterned paper.  This card uses the Paper Studio Eat Cake Paper Pack.  You could create your own patterned paper by stamping party hats in multiple colors, but it is much faster if you  use paper you have one hand.

I die cut the party hat patterned paper with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  The paper pack had a sheet of the word celebrate in multi colored strips.  I used my guillotine paper cutter to trim a turquoise strip and then adhered it on an angle to the party hat rectangle with 3M Foam Tape.  To accent the turquoise color I found some matching glitter cardstock in the Paper Studio Glitter Paper Pack and cut it 1/8″ larger and adhered it to the back of the party hat rectangle with Sookwang Scor-Tape.  I find this works best with the the rough surface of glitter cardstock.

The “you” from Simon Says Stamp You Matter Stamp and Die set was cut from both Turquoise and Red Glitter Cardstock and both were adhered slightly offset with Ranger Multi-Medium Matte Glue and then adhered just below the sentiment strip with the same glue.

The cardbase is made from Gina K. Designs 120# Cardstock.  Cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5-1/2″.  The focal image was adhered to the cardbase using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  As a final embellishment Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen was added to all of the party hats and the card was done.

Beary Special Birthday Wishes II

I love the images from the My Favorite Things Beary Special Birthday stamp set.   I made this card at the same time as the Patterned Paper Balloon Bouquet and the colors were inspired by that card.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and colored it using Copic Markers (colors used are listed below).  Once the coloring was done I used the matching dies to cutout the images.  I cut a rectangle from the same white cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles and then laid the images out to determine placement.  I stamped the sentiment from the same MFT stamp set and Winnie and Walters The Big, The Bold, and Party stamp set with Altenew Sapphire Ink in the upper left of the rectangle.  A rectangle of Gina K. Designs 120# Navy Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger than the Lawn Fawn rectangle and both were adhered together with Tombo Mono Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.  So that the bear, cake and presents wouldn’t seem to be floating in air ground was colored with Copic Markers C1, C2, and C3, and then all the images were adhered to the rectangle with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to add dimension.

I found some mint green chevron cardstock in the Fancy Pants Design Trend Setter 12 x 12 Paper Pad and cut it with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  A 1/8″ larger rectangle was cut from Gina K. Designs 120# Navy Cardstock and adhered together with TOmbo Mono Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.

To assemble the card a top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and both rectangles were adhered to it using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Patterned Paper Beary Special Birthday Card

This card was created around some patterned paper from Fancy Pants Design Trend Setter 12 x 12 Paper Pad.  I love the look of the navy zig zag paper to enhance the cute bear image from the My Favorite Things Beary Special Birthday stamp set.

I began by stamping the images from My Favorite Things Beary Special Birthday on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored it with Copic Markers (colors used are listed below).  Once the coloring was done I ran them through the Big Shot with their matching dies.

To create a focal point I die cut a rectangle from the same white cardstock with the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles and then ran it through the Big Shot with We R Memory Keepers Stripes Sunburst Embossing Folder.  Adding this dry embossing draws your eye directly to the focal image.  A rectangle of Gina K. Designs 120# Navy Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger and adhered to the back with Sookwang Scor-Tape.  I don’t like using liquid glue to adhered things together when using lighter cardstock.  The lines of the glue can sometimes be seen as it dries.

The bear, balloon, and presents were adhered to this rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  A rectangle was cut from the patterned paper using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes and adhered to an A2 Top Folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Navy Cardstock with more Scor-Tape. The focal image rectangle was adhered to the patterned paper using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

For the sentiment the word “Happy” was cut from American Crafts Gold Glitter Cardstock using Lawn Fawn’s Happy Happy Happy die.  The secondary sentiment was stamped on a scrap of Navy Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and then double fishtail ends were hand cut.  The banner was then adhered just below the focal image with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the die cut word was adhered with Ranger Multi Medium Matte so that it would it would overlap the both the banner and focal image and the card was done.
