Mom I Love You Mother’s Day Card

I love the image from C. C. Designs DoveArt Studios Himalayan Poppy and decided to use it for my Mom’s Mother’s Day card this year.  She loves red and so that is what I used to color this image with Copic Markers: R22, R24, R27, R29; YG99, YG97, YG95; BG000, BG0000.

With colored pencil shading
Without colored pencil shading

Once coloring was done I die cut the image with the second largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  Another rectangle was cut from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock 1/8” larger and both were adhered together using Be Creative Double Sided Tape.  (I find this works best with the smooth surface of mirror cardstock.)  Simon Says Stamp Script Mom was also cut from the same mirror cardstock and again from Darice Sticky Backed Fun Foam.  I cut the foam with the sticky side up and find it works really well to add dimension to die cut words.

Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back of the focal image rectangle and then it was placed on a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Mother’s Day, which was stamped underneath the focal image rectangle on the right.  The focal image was then adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Gold Sequins were scattered on the card front.

I thought the card was done at this time, but the more I looked at it I just felt that it needed something more.  I had just watched a YouTube video about adding shading to Copic colored images with colored pencils and decided to give it a try.  I used my Derwent Inktense Pencil 0410 Hot Red to add shadows to the flower centers and liked it much better, but I still felt it needed something, so I pulled out my Sakura Gelly Roll Metallic Gold #551 pen and added gold dots to the flower stamen and finally felt like it was complete.

Heidi Among the Flowers Birthday Card

This cute images is from C. C. Designs Heidi Among the Flowers and was used for a birthday card for one of the young women in our church whose favorite color is blue.

It was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and then colored with Copic Markers (colored listed below).

I wanted to use some patterned paper for a background to the card to accent her favorite color of blue.  A rectangle was cut from Recollections Bright and Basic 6″ x 6″ Paper Pad with Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle.  I looked through my scraps of paper for a matching solid blue cardstock and cut a scalloped frame with the Pretty Pink Post Scalloped Rectangles die. Green cardstock was cut with the Taylored Expressions Wispy Grass die and glued to the back of the scalloped rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The focal image was cut to fit behind the scalloped rectangle with a guillotine paper cutter. Thin strips of 3M 1/2″ foam tape was cut in half and added to the back of the frame and then it was adhered to the focal image.  A rectangle just smaller than the focal image was cut from Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam and then adhered to the back of the focal image.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  To determine where to stamp the sentiment the focal image was placed on the card front and then the sentiment from Penny Black’s Sprinkles and Smiles was was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The focal image was then adhered to the card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Penny Black Jubilant Time to Celebrate

Penny Black’s Jubilant makes an absolutely beautiful watercolor card. This card was made for one of our young women leaders whose favorite color is teal blue.  I love the way this card turned out.

I used Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper for this card.  I placed the Jubilant rubber stamp in the MISTI since I wanted to stamp the image multiple times to get the look that I was going for.  I colored the image with the ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers (colors used are listed below) and then generously spritzed it with water before stamping on the watercolor paper.  I did this a couple of times, drying the image with the Marvy Embossing Tool between each stamping.  For the last stamping I colored the image and did not add any additional water.

When I sprayed the stamp to clean it there was a lot of leftover ink and so I decided to do a second generation stamped image and it too turned out beautiful, a little softer in color, but it still made a lovely card.

Once the images were dry I ran them through the Sizzix Big Shot with the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  For the original image a rectangle of teal blue cardstock 1/8″ larger than the focal image was adhered to the back using Sookwang Scor-Tape.  To the second generation image Paper Accents Gold Mirror cardstock was added to the back.

The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted’s Fancy Sayings and was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  (You want to make sure that the image is completely dry before adding embossing powder or you will end up with a mess on your card.)

Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back of the focal image rectangles.  A2 Top Folding Cardbases were made from Gina K. Designs 120# White and Ivory Cardstock and the focal images were adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  For added interest Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Gold Sequins were scattered on the card front and adhered with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the cards were done.

Have a Wonderful Sweet Birthday

This card is for Aubrey who is an awesome big sister and a lovely pianist. Her favorite color is purple, but to add a little more interest I added some pink accents.  Wouldn’t it be fun to have a chocolate birthday cupcake half as big as you are.  Might have a stomach ache afterwards, but it would be a delicious treat.

This image is from Penny Black’s Sweet Thing and was stamped on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  The image was colored with Copic Markers (colors listed below) and then die cut using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  I have been an a kit lately of using patterned paper as a background to the focal image and decided to use Doodlebug 2523 Lilac Daisy-Stripe Cardstock.  It was cut with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  Matching purple cardstock was found from my stash and rectangles for both the focal image and the background panel were cut 1/8″ larger and adhered to the back of each rectangle with Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was also added to the back of the focal image to add dimension.

The sentiment from Penny Black Sprinkles and Smiles was stamped below the focal image with Altenew Lavender Ink.  An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The patterned paper rectangle and the focal image rectangle were adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Gold Stickles was added to the center of the cupcake flower and as the confetti on the cupcake and the card was done.

This card is for Centhy who is a senior this year and will be moving on to new and exciting adventures in her life.  Her favorite colors are pink and black.

I found some great black and gray paper to use as a background for this card in the Colorbok 8 1/2″ x 11″ Moonlight Designer Paper.  It was die cut using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  I found some hot pink cardstock in my stash and cut it with my paper trimmer 1/8″ larger than the patterned paper.  These two rectangles were glued together with Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive and then adhered to a top folding A2 Cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.
