Seize the Cupcake Birthday Card

This card was made for Rachel, whose favorite color is green.  I found some green and white daisy patterned paper in my stash and used it to determine the color of Copic markers that were used to color the image.

The patterned paper was die cut with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  A darker green layer was added 1/8″ larger than the patterned paper.  They were adhered together with Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive and then glued to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The focal image from C. C. Designs Cupcake Emma was stamped on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with the Copic Markers listed below.  Once coloring was complete the focal image was die cut with another Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle and a darker green layer 1/8″ larger was adhered to the back with the Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.

The sentiment from Hero Arts Seize the Cupcake was stamped with Altenew Forest Glades Ink.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back of the focal image to add dimension and then glued to the patterned paper with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  I decided to use Bottle Green Nuvo Crystal Drops for the frosting and it turned out looking perfect. Gold Stickles was used for the candies on top of the frosting and the card was done.

Have a Sweet Day Birthday Card

This personalized birthday card was created for our newest young woman, Aubrey.  Her favorite color is pink and anything that sparkles, according to her mom and big sister.

The image is from Penny Black’s Wish Big and was stamped on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Everything was colored with different hues of pink (colors listed below).  Copic YR23 was used as a base for anything gold.  Once the coloring was complete the focal image was die cut using Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  To add more sparkle and bling Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger and both were adhered together with Sookwang Scor-Tape.

To accent the pink and gold theme a larger rectangle was cut with the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle from Dream Street Paper LLC Baylee’s Garden Rain Drops paper, which has gold foil at the center of the cirles.  A rectangle 1/8″ larger was cut from mirror cardstock and both were adhered together with Scor-Tape.  This panel was adhered to a top folding A2 Cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.

The focal image rectangle was placed on the card front to determine where to stamp the sentiment from My Favorite Things Delicious Birthday with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The focal image was then adhered to the card front by adding Tombo Mono Multi Glue to the fun foam.  Gold Stickles was added to the crown, ribbons, dots on the present, and the star confetti and the card was done.

Cupcake Brigitta Happy Birthday Card

This is a personalized birthday card for MaryLynn made with C. C. Designs Cupcake Brigitta.  When I create one of these cards for the young women at church I try and find an image that has close to the same length of hair that they have and then I color them to look like them, with their favorite colors.

The image was stamped on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I knew that MaryLynn’s favorite colors were pink and green and so I searched through my paper packs and found the perfect patterned paper in Perfect Prints Forever in Time 6 x 6 Paper Stack.  The was the inspiration for the Copic markers used to color the image (colors listed below).

Once the coloring was complete the image was die cut using Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large.  I searched through my scraps of paper to find a pink that would compliment the patterned paper and die cut a Spellbinders Scalloped Ovals Large.  The focal image oval and the scalloped oval were adhered together with Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive and then Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back.

A rectangle of the patterned paper was die cut using the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  A rectangle 1/8″ larger was cut from the pink cardstock and both were adhered together with the same dot adhesive.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back for dimension.  An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the patterned paper rectangle was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The sentiment from Fiskars Birthday Bash was stamped with VersaMark Ink on a scrap of pink cardstock and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  It was then cut into a thin strip and fun foam was added to the back.  It was placed to the bottom of the patterned paper with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then the focal image centered above it and adhered with the same glue.  Nuvo Crystal Drops Caribbean Ocean and Bubblegum Blush were scattered on the focal image and the card was done.

Just One More Candle Birthday Card

This is a birthday card for Jenna made with Penny Black’s Big Wish stamp set.  I love coloring these cute little people for personalized birthday cards.

The image was stamped on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored with Copic Markers (colors listed below).  As always, these cards are colored with the recipients favorite colors.  Once the coloring was complete it was die cut using the second largest Lawn Fawn Small stitched Stackable Rectangles.

Blue patterned paper from Perfect Prints Forever in Time 6 x 6 Paper Stack was die cut with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. Blue paper to match the patterned paper was found in my stash and cut 1/8″ larger and both were adhered together using Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.

A scalloped rectangle was cut from the same blue cardstock using the Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Rectangles Die.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back of both the scalloped rectangle and the focal image. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes and was stamped with Altenew Caribbean Ink in the lower left.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the patterned paper rectangle was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The blue scalloped rectangle was adhered by putting the same glue on the back of the fun foam and then adhering it to the cardbase.  The focal image was glued in the center of the scalloped rectangle with the same glue.  Wink of Stella was added to the balloon and hat.  Neat & Tangled Pink Lemonade Sequins and Doodlebug Blue Jeans Sequins were scattered on the card front and the card was done.

Gansai Pearl Colors Five Candle Birthday Card

I recently purchased the Gansai Tambi Pearl Colors Watercolor Palette and decided to make a clean and simple card using the Hero Arts Five Big Candles stamp.

Using the MISTI the image was stamped on Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper.  This ensures a crisp image when stamping on the rough surface of watercolor paper.  I colored the candles using all except the White Gold watercolor.  Since I had just made a card using the Finetec Gold M600 Watercolors I used 620 Inka Gold and 650 Luna Gold to color the patterns on the candles, along with their flames.  The Pearl Cobalt Blue was watered down until it was a very light wash and was painted as a background to the focal image.

The 620 Inka Gold watercolor was used on a scrap of watercolor paper and dried with the Marvy Embossing Tool.  It was then die cut with one of the “Happy” words from the Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy stamp and cut set with the Sizzix Big Shot to use as a sentiment for the card.

The focal image was run through the Big Shot with the second largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  Another rectangle was cut 1/8″ larger from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and adhered to the back of the focal image with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  A side folding A2 Cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image panel was placed on the card front to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment, which is also from the Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy stamp set, with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  The focal image rectangle was adhered to the top of the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The “Happy” die cut was adhered to the bottom right of the focal image with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the card was done.

  • Hero Arts Five Big Candles
  • Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy

Finetec Gold Balloons and Present Birthday Card

I recently purchased the Finetec Gold M600 Watercolor Palette and wanted to create a card to try out these new watercolors.  I liked the way it turned out and love these shiny gold watercolors.

I began by stamping the image from Inkadinkado Happy Birthday on Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  I used the MISTI since stamping on the rough surface of watercolor paper requires multiple stampings for a crisp image.

I used all six colors from the Finetec Gold M600 palette to color the image. So that the present wouldn’t appear to be floating in air a table was also created with the same colors.  These are very opaque pigments and so some of the lines of the image were no longer a crisp dark.  I used 05 Pigma Micron Pen to redefine the lines in the image.  Once everything was dry the image was run through the Sizzix Big Shot with the 2nd largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle.  A rectangle 1/8″ larger was cut from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and both were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A second larger rectangle was cut from Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  A 1/8″ larger rectangle was cut from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and they were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The focal image rectangle was placed on top of the larger rectangle to determine where to stamp the sentiment from Inkadinkado Happy Birthday.  Using the MISTI it was stamped several times with Hero Hues India Ink Black to ensure a crisp image.

An A2 Cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock. The larger rectangle was adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back of the focal image rectangle and then it was adhered to the cardbase with the same glue.  I think it turned out to be an elegant clean and simple card.

Patterned Paper Stashes Masculine Birthday Card

This card would be perfect for any man who wears a mustache.  It is simple to create and takes very little time to assemble.

A rectangle of the patterned paper from the Paper Studio Glasses, Staches, & Ties 12 x 12 Paper Pack was die cut using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  A rectangle of brown cardstock from my stash was cut 1/8″ larger with a paper trimmer and both were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, but I didn’t like how stark the contrast was between the patterned paper rectangle and the white cardbase, so a rectangle of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock was cut using the WPlus9 Gift Card Layers Die, which cut a rectangle the same size as the front of an A2 cardbase.  The black rectangle was adhered to the front of the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back of the patterned paper rectangle and then adhered to the black card front using the same glue.

The sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy Stamp Set was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with ZING Chestnut Embossing Powder and die cut with the matching die.  The secondary sentiment uses the same ink and embossing powder and was placed directly below the die cut word and the card was done.

Patterned Paper Masculine It’s Your Birthday Card

This is another masculine birthday card that primarily uses patterned paper to add focal interest.

A rectangle of patterned paper from Paper Studio Glasses, Staches, & Ties 12 x 12 Paper Pack was cut using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger and both were adhered together using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  A rectangle of Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back to add dimension to the card.

I found some matching blue cardstock in my stash of paper and stamped the eye glasses from the Simon Says Stamp set I See You twice with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and then embossed with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder.  The eye glasses were then fussy cut, Inkssentials Glossy Accents were added to the glasses, and then they were set aside to dry while the rest of the card was assembled.

The chevron strip from Simon Says Stamp I See You was stamped and embossed with the same ink and embossing powder on the blue paper and then trimmed and placed on the patterned paper rectangle to determine placement for the sentiment.  “I See You” was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder.  The Secondary sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The Chevron strip was adhered to the left of the patterned paper rectangle with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  The patterned paper rectangle was then adhered to an A2 top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock by adding Tombo Mono Multi Glue to the fun foam.  The first eye glasses were adhered directly to the patterned paper with the same glue and the second was adhered with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape and the card was done.

Patterned Paper Tools Masculine Birthday Card

You can make some great masculine birthday cards with nothing more than patterned paper.  This card utilizes Paper Studio Glasses, Staches, & Ties 12 x 12 Paper Pack.

Some of the tools were fussy cut from the patterned paper and then shading was added with Copic markers.  A rectangle of Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock was cut using the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  The tools were placed on the rectangle to determine where to stamp the sentiment from My Favorite Things Big Birthday Sentiments in Memento Rich Cocoa Ink. To add interest to the focal image the rectangle was run through the Sizzix Big Shot with the Lifestyle Crafts Chain Embossing Folder.  The tools were adhered to the front of the rectangle with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  Three antique bronze brads were added to the bottom of the rectangle to add balance.

A rectangle of the patterned paper was cut using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger and both were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back.

Patterned Paper Masculine Fisherman Birthday Card

I really like the Stampin’ Up Angler stamp.  Even when it doesn’t have any coloring it makes a nice masculine card.  The patterned paper from Paper Studio Glasses, Staches is the perfect background.

The image was stamped on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento London Fog Ink and then die cut using the second largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  The sentiment from My Favorite Things Big Birthday Sentiments was stamped below the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  To balance out the focal image three small silver brads were added at the top.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back of the rectangle.

A top folding A2 Cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The patterned paper was die cut using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  A rectangle was cut from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock 1/8″ larger than the patterned paper and both were adhered together using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back and the patterned paper background was adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The focal image was then adhered using the same glue and the card was done.
