Altenew Adore You Birthday Wishes

A woman I serve with in the young women’s organization at church has a birthday the first week of September.  Her favorite colors are blue and gray.  I had recently purchased Altenew’s Adore You stamp and dies and decided to use them for her birthday card.  I love the way that it turned out.

I stamped the flowers and leaves on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored them with Copic Markers B93, B95, B97, B99; G94, YG03.  I then ran them through the Big Shot with the matching dies.  I die cut a rectangle of the same white cardstock with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle and arranged the flowers the way I wanted them to determine where to stamp the sentiment from Penny Black Sprinkles & Smiles.  It was stamped with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed with Ranger Detail Silver Embossing Powder, which pulled in a little sparkling gray.

Some of the flowers were adhered directly to the white rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and others were adhered using 3M ½” Foam Tape and some foam squares I have in my stash that has a slightly higher profile.  Silver Stickles were added to the stamen and then Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Silver Sequins were scattered around the flowers.

To accent the blue color of the flowers I decided to make the cardbase from Gina K. Designs 120# Navy Cardstock.  The white rectangle focal image was adhered directly to the front of the cardbase with Sookwang Be Creative Tape.  Clear Wink of Stella was added to the flowers and the card was done.

Sweet Birthday Wishes

While I was in Kentucky I saw this stamp set at the local Hobby Lobby store and decided it could make gender neutral birthday cards, and who doesn’t like ice cream.

I stamped the images with Altenew Inks: Ruby Red; Rose Quartz, Puffy Hearts; Volcano Lake, Mountain Mist; Dark Chocolate, and Jet Black.  Hobby Lobby didn’t have the matching dies and so I fussy cut the images and then stacked the scoops of ice cream on the cone using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

I felt that it was just too plain when placed on a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and so a rectangle of Mint Green Polka Dot Paper was cut from the Pebbles Front Port 6 x 6 Paper Pack with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle. A rectangle of Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller and adhered to the back of the patterned paper.  It was then adhered to the card front using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then the sentiment was stamped in the lower right corner with Altenew Dark Chocolate Ink.

3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back of the ice cream cone and then it placed on the patterned paper.   Clear Wink of Stella was added to the scoops of ice cream and cherry and the card was done.

Avery Elle Floral Bouquet Birthday

I recently purchased Avery Elle’s Floral Bouquet stamp set.  The matching dies make it easy to have a lovely bouquet cutout to place on a card.

I stamped the images on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink since I planned to color it with Copic Markers.  Colors used were: G21, G94, YG17; V22, V25; R89, R85, R83, R81.  I really liked the combination of deep pink and purple.  Once the coloring was done it was run through the Big Shot with the matching dies.  I decided to place the bouquet on an oval cut with a My Favorite Things Stitched Oval STAX die.  The oval was cut again with Darice Sticky Back Foam and then trimmed down to be just smaller than the shape and the two were adhered together.

I placed the bouquet where I planned to adhere it to determine where to stamp the sentiment, which is from the same stamp set.  It was stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  The bouquet was adhered to the oval with 3M ½” Foam Tape.  The small sprig of two flower buds was adhered with Multi Medium Matte and tucked under the right edge of the bouquet.

I think an embossed background adds interest and dimension to a card, so a rectangle of Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock was die cut with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes and then run through the Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder.  It was adhered to a side folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The focal image oval was adhered in the center of the card with the same glue.  To accent the stamen in the center of the flowers Platinum Stickles was added.  As a finishing touch Clear Wink of Stella was added to the flowers and the card was done.

Nina Joy’s 90th Birthday

I tend to like colors that are cooler in hue, but my mother loves warm colors.  Back in the day I was termed a winter and Mom was an autumn.  My sweet, wonderful mother will be turning ninety in September.  She is such an inspiration to all of us blessed to know her.  I have never met another person so outwardly focused.  She is always thinking of others and performing acts of service every single day. She is either baking a pie for someone from church to say thank you, washing the clothes of the single parent father next door, making a meal for a new mother, visiting with people in the assisted living center where she lives, taking someone to a doctor’s appointment, you name it, by mother is doing it.  If anyone on earth is an angel, it’s my mother.  I am so grateful that she is still in my life and I hope that I can be half the woman my mother is and, when I’m as old as she is, that I have grown up to be just like her.

Mother loves roses and this Scented Beauty image from Penny Black is one of the prettiest I’ve seen.  I stamped it on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  It was colored with Copic Markers: YR12, YR04, YR18; YG01, G94; Y11, Y00.  Ususally I use B000, B00 for the background on an image, but this time I decided to use light yellows and really like the glow it adds to the focal image.

The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Scripty Saying and was stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  The focal image was then die cut with the largest My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangles and Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller and added to the back.  A top folding A2 cardbase was made from black textured cardstock I had in my stash and the focal image was adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  As a finishing touch Pretty Pink Posh Mettalic Gold and Tangerine Sequins were added, along with Clear Wink of Stella to the flowers, and the card was done.

Power Poppy Ranunculus Birthday

I printed this digital image from Power Poppy called Ranunculus on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with a Laser Printer.  You do not want to use an Ink Jet printer because the lines would bleed when you colored them.

I pulled out my mini color wheel to determine what colors I wanted for this image.  With purple as the primary, blue and pink are Tetrad colors and so that is what I decided to use.  I colored the image with Copic Markers: RV02, RV04; RV06, RV09; V12, V15; V15, V17; BG11, BG13; BG13, BG45; G21, G46; Y00; Colorless Blender.

The sentiment is from a new stamp set I just got from Winnie & Walter called Sentimental Birthday.  They are smaller sentiments and can be used easily with larger focal images.  It was stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black.

I die cut the image with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangles and then a rectangle of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock was cut 1/8” larger and adhered to the back with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut with the Stitched Rectangle and adhered to the back of the focal image.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and then the front of the cardbase was placed in a Cuttlebug Polk Dots Embossing Folder and run through the Big Shot to add visual interest to the card.  The focal image was then adhered to the card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  A little Clear Wink of Stella was added to the flowers and the card was done.

Chocolate Therapy Birthday Card

When I was in Kentucky I went to the local Hobby Lobby and saw this stamp set from Art Impressions called Chocolate Therapy.  Chocolate is one of my weaknesses and I thought it could make a cute birthday card for any of my chocolate loving friends.

I stamped this image on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and began coloring it with Copic Markers while I was waiting in airports on my flight home.  One thing I learned is that Copic Markers can be unpredictable with the changes in altitude.  I got a few drops of different colors on the card front that I couldn’t remove with my colorless blender.  I thought that it was going to be a toss, but instead I pulled out my large rhinestones from a Recollection mix and scattered them around the card front to cover all the boo-boos.  A few more rhinestones than I would normally add, but the card was saved and the image makes me smile.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set and was placed in the lower right corner and stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  The focal image was cut with the largest My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle and then Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller and adhered to the back.  A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Red Cardstock.  The focal image was adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Power Poppy Pansies Happy Birthday

One of the things I like about digital stamps is that you can make them any size you desire.  This image is Power Poppy Pansies and was printed on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with an HP Laser printer.

I looked online at images of pansies and decided to color these white with a purple center.  With the yellow stamen in the center it is a pretty color combination.  Copic Markers used are:  V20, V22, V25; C0, C1, C3; G24, G21, G46.  The sentiment is from Art Impressions Chocolate Therapy and was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.

The image was die cut with the My Favorite Things Pierced Oval STAX die.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was also die cut and then trimmed down to be just smaller than the focal image.  A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, however, when I went to place the focal image on the card front the white on white just got lost on the paper, so I took the darkest purple marker (V25) and ran it around the edges of the oval.  That really made the image pop on the page.

To also add interest a rectangle of 80# white cardstock was die cut with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle and then run through the Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder.  This rectangle was adhered to the card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then the focal image oval was adhered on top with the same glue and the card was done.

Power Poppy Fly Guy Birthday Card

This is another digital image from Power Poppy called Fly Guy.  I have a son who loves to fly fish and so this is the perfect card for him.  I printed the image on Gina K. Designs 80# Ivory Cardstock with my HP Laser Printer and colored it with Copic Markers: BG01, BG11, BG13; B01, B00, B000; C9, C7; YG95, B24, B26; B25, B31; C1, C3, C5; YG95, YG97, YG93; BG13, G24, C1, C3; E49, E29; E00, E11, E13.

It was run through the Big Shot with a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle and then Gina K. Designs 1203# Chocolate Brown Cardstock was cut 1/8” larger and glued to the back of the focal image with some Kokuyo DotLiner Adhesive.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts Birthday Messages and was stamped with Altenew Dark Chocolate Ink.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut with the same Simon Says Stamp Rectangle and added to the back of the focal image.

A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Kraft Cardstock.  The focal image was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

The Reel Deal Birthday Card

This image is very similar to Stampin’ Up’s Angler and is a digital image from Power Poppy called Reel Deal.  I always print these images on my small HP Laser Printer so that it doesn’t bleed when coloring.  The image was printed on Gina K. Designs 80# Ivory Cardstock and colored with Copic Markers: C2, C3; R24, R27, R29; YR07, Y17, YG03, B23, B24, B26, B37; E55, E35, E57; YG91, YG93.

It was printed as a small image and so I die cut it using a smaller Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller and adhered to the back.  A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Navy Cardstock.  The sentiment from My Favorite Things Celebrate You was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The focal image was adhered to the card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  I love the way it pops off the page with the dark cardbase.

Fisherman Birthday Card

This is another card I watercolor painted while I was in Kentucky.  I have always colored this image with Copic Markers in the past, but this time it was stamped on Canson XL 140# Watercolor Paper with Distress Antique Linen Ink.  This time it was colored using Derwent Inktense Watercolor Pencils.  Since this is a detailed image the darker lines of the pencils allowed the lines of the image to be maintained.  I would outline the image with the color desired and then use a Black Velvet #4 Round Watercolor Brush to pull the color out.  This was a more challenging no-line watercoloring project, but I like the way it turned out.  The Inktense Pencils used are listed below.

Once the image was dry it was run through the Big Shot with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller and added to the back.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Inside & Out Birthday and was stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Kraft Cardstock and the focal image was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.
