Slam Dunk Birthday

My grandson Joshua turned 16 the end of August.  He loved basketball, and is a talented player.  I searched for some time to find a good basketball image for his card and finally ran across this digital stamp from Sparkle N Sprinkle called simply “Basketball.”

I imported the image in to Microsoft Word and added some WordArt for the sentiment.  It was then printed on Neena Solar White 80# Cardstock on a laser printer.  This ensures the image doesn’t bleed when coloring with Copic Markers.  I die cut the image using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.

His school colors are red and black so that is the colors used.  (E99, E47, YR24 (Ball); E11, E00, E000 (Skin); E30, E33 (Hair); R24, R27, R29 (Uniform); C5, C7, C9 (Socks and Ground); B0000 (Shadow).  Unfortunately I made an error in coloring and decided to print and color the image again and fussy cut it out, placing it over the original image with 3M ½” foam tape.  It was one of those times that a mistake makes a better card.  The added dimension made the image pop.

To pull a little more black into the design a rectangle of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock was cut 1/8” larger than the stitched rectangle and adhered to the back of the focal image with Sookwang Be Creative Tape.  Next a rectangle of Darice Sticky Back Foam was die cut and adhered to the back of the panel.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image was adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Morocco Stencil Background Hello

This is the third card I made for the Rainbow Maker card class. This time I used the Bo Bunny Morocco Stencil and added some additional color to the blend. I love how colorful adding some yellow and orange made the card. I hadn’t use my Oxide Inks before trying it with stencil backgrounds and really love the results you get.

Once again the word “hello” was die cut from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock using Paper Smooches Quote Tag Die. I love the way adding a mat of black behind the image makes it pop off the card front. Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back of the rectangle and then adhered to the front of a top folding A2 cardbase of Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Chevron Background Hello Card

This is the second card I made using a stencil and Distress Oxide Inks.  This time I used the Tim Holtz Chevron Stencil and ink blended blue and green Oxide Inks on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock.  Another clean and simple card with a lot of punch because of the beautiful design in the stencil and the smooth blending you get with Distress Oxide.

Latticework Background Hello Card

I participated in the Online Card Class Rainbow Maker.  One of the days was using stencils to create interesting card backgrounds.

I pulled out my Tim Holtz Latticework Stencil and ink blended blue and green Distress Oxide Inks on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock.  I love the way it turned out.  A clean and simple card with a lot of punch because of the beautiful design in the stencil and the smooth blending you get with these amazing inks.

Hero Arts Floral Filigree Stencil Background Hello

For this card I decided to pull out one of my stencils, Hero Arts Floral Filigree 2, and use ink daubers to add color to the image.  In order to ensure that the colors didn’t bleed into other areas of the stencil Post-it Tape was used to mask off the areas.  Once it was dry it was run through the Big Shot with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle.

Since this is a clean and simple card and so I decided to use a Paper Smooches Quote Tag Hello word die cut from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock, it was also used to add a mat behind the focal image.  To add dimension Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut with the same rectangle die and adhered to the back of the focal image.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

I like the way it turned out.

The Thing About Courage

So many people I know are facing difficult challenges in many different areas of their lives.  I wanted to create a card of encouragement.  I love this sentiment from My Favorite Things DC Vertical Greetings.  I wanted it to take center stage and so I ink blended a background with Distress Oxide Inks: Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, and Peacock Feathers onto Bristol Smooth Cardstock.  These ink blend beautifully.

I waited for the background to be completely dry before I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine Onyx Black Ink because I wanted to add Hero Arts Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  I heat set it with the Marvy Embossing Tool and then die cut it with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  A piece of Gina K. Designs 120# black cardstock was cut 1/8” larger and the two were adhered together using Sookwang Be Creative Tape.

I rectangle of Darice Sticky Foam was die cut with the same rectangle die and adhered to the back of the focal image.  A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A clean and simple card focusing on a great message for all of us to remember.

The second card was made the exact same way, but with different colors of Oxide Inks.

Happy Birthday Bayley

This is another digital image from La-La Land Crafts entitled Darling Marci.  This is also a sitting image and so I searched for a digital chair stamp and finally found one I liked from WinkWinkInk entitled Comfy Chair.

Both images were imported into my Silhouette Cameo Software and then print and cut on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with my laser printer.  (It is important to use a laser printer when you want to Copic color an image.  If it were printed with a LaserJet the image would smear when coloring.)

Copic Markers used are:   RV29, RV14, RV13 (Chair); RV13, RV11, RV10 (Dress); E49, E59, E35 (Hair); R20, R21 (Lips and Cheeks); E13, E21, E00 (Skin); C8, C6 (Polka Dots on Chair); C9, C8, C7 (Chair Feet); C5, C4, C3 (Ribbon, Ruffle, and Shoes).  I added polka dots to the chair for added interest.

The girl image was adhered to the chair using Ranger Multi Medium Matte glue and then 3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back.  They were then placed on a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock to determine where to stamp the sentiment from Hero Arts Yummy Treats, stamped with Hero Arts Soft Granite Ink.

The card front was run through the Big Shot with WeR Memory Keepers Dotted Embossing Folder to add interest and dimension to the front of the card.  The backing was removed from the foam tape and the focal image was adhered to the card front.  As a final detail a Sakura GellyRoll Metallic Silver pen was used to trace the sentiment and the card was done.

Make a Wish Kailyn

I recently purchased the digital image for La-La Land Crafts Garden Bench.  I have quite a few girl images that appear to be sitting and I thought this would be a good addition to my stamps.

The girl image is another digital stamp from La-La Land Crafts entitled Birthday Gift Molli.  I imported both Molli and the garden bench into my Silhouette Cameo Software and then performed a print and cut on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with my laser printer.  It is important to use a laser printer when you want to Copic color an image.  If it were printed with a LaserJet the image would smear when coloring.

Copic Markers used are:  E50, E53, E35 (Hair); E000, E01, E11 (Skin); R20, R21 (Cheeks and Lips); E49, E59, E57/YR24, YR23, YR21 (Bench); B39, B37, B34 (Pants and Ribbon); B37, B34, B95, B32 (Shirt and Present); E50, E51, E53, E55 (Shoes).

I found some blue patterned paper in the Doodlebug Designs Patriotic Picnic 6 x 6 Paper Pad and die cut it using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle. It was adhered to a side folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with a Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive Runner.

The Silhouette cut images were adhered together using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then 3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back to add dimension.  They were placed on the card front to determine where to stamp the sentiment from Hero Arts Make a Wish Birthday, which was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  The backing was removed from the foam tape and the focal image was adhered to the card front. As a finishing touch Neat and Tangled Peacock Feather and Doodlebug Designs Blue Jeans Sequins were scatter around the focal image, adhered with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.
