Back On Your Feet

My brother-in-law recently had back surgery.  When I saw this cute digital image from Birds Cards I knew it would make the perfect card for David.

I printed the image on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with a laser jet printer.  This ensure that the lines do not bleed when colored with Copic Markers.  I used: G94, G24, G21; YG97, YG95, YG93, YG91; YG67, YG17, YG03; Y26, Y23, Y21; BG01, BG000, BG0000.

I had this great scrap of plaid cardstock that went perfectly with the image.  I wanted to have a large fishtail banner, but the I didn’t have one that was a large and I what I wanted it to be, so I took a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle and ran it through the Big Shot.  I ran it through again to create the fish tail.  I used the next largest die to create a green border to the fishtail.  It worked great!

I pulled some jute twine from my stash and wrapped it around the banner three times and tied it into a knot.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back of the banner and it was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs Base Weight Kraft Cardstock.

I die cut the focal image using a My Favorite things Pierced Circle STAX die and added more Darice Sticky Back Foam for dimension.  It was adhered to the banner with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

For added embellishments, Ranger Glossy Accents were tortoise’s back to highlight the pattern.  Nuvo Crystal Drops in Dandelion yellow and Bottle Green were scattered around the focal image and the card was done.

Cute Dragon Make a Wish Birthday

When I saw this digital image from Connie Fong call Tori the Dragon with Heart Cake I knew it would make a really cute birthday card, for any age.

I printed the image onto some Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and colored it with Copic Markers BG18, BG57, BG53, B01, B00; B000, B0000; G94, G24, G21; RV14, RV13, RV11; Y26, Y23, Y21.

Once the coloring was complete it was die cut using the PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added by tracing around the image with a pencil and fussy cutting with a scissor.

To compliment the color pallet used a rectangle of turquoise plaid patterned paper from the Lawn Fawn Rainbow Plaid paper pack was die cut using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX and adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.

To help the little dragon pop on the card front a circle of Neena cardstock was cut with a My Favorite Things Pierced Circle STAX die.  It was adhered to the plaid paper with the dotliner adhesive and the dragon was adhered using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

The sentiment is from the Penny Black Sentiment die set and was cut from the same white cardstock and adhered to the card front with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  Clear Wink of Stella was added to the frosting, flowers, hearts, and dragon wings and the card was done.

Hooray! It’s Your Birthday

This is another image from Art Impressions that makes a great masculine card.  I used it this time for a birthday card, but I’ve used it for an invitation for a backyard barbecue that was really cute as well.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto some Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and colored it with Copic Markers (E19, E08, E07; YG97, YG95, YG93; E35, E33, E31; E49, E47; W9, W7, W5; C2, C1, C0).

To create the scene I die cut two rectangles using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle, once for the sky background, and another to create the grass, which was created using a Lawn Fawn Simple Stitched Hillside Border.  Fluffy clouds were cut using Avery Elle’s Pierced Clouds dies.

The sky rectangle was ink blended using Distress Inks Tumbled Glass and Broken China using a Ranger Mini Blending Tool.  The grass was ink blended with Distress Inks Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint.  The two were adhered together using Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  To add more interest, little tufts of grass were added with Copic Markers.

The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink onto the grass and heat embossed using Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  Before doing this ensure that the ink has completely dried so the embossing powder only sticks to the sentiment.

The focal image was die cut using the PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added by tracing around the image with a pencil and fussy cutting it with scissors.  The clouds were adhered to the sky portion of the rectangle, one with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape and the other directly to the rectangle with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  The focal image was adhered using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

Let’s Par-Tee

I have some friend who are real golf enthusiast.  When I saw the Art Impressions Par-Tee Golfers stamp set I knew it would make great birthday cards.  For this card I used the gentleman golfer in his little golf cart.  It turned out great!

I stamped the image Memento London Fog Ink onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock and colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers 034 Dull Blue, 030 Blue, 036 Light Blue, 031 Cobalt Blue, 081 Light Violet, 080 Violet, 071 Flesh, 064 Oatmeal, 028 Light Pink, 091 Light Gray, 092 Blue Gray, 096 Mid Gray, 090 Gray, 010 Black.

Once the image was dry I cut around it using the PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back by tracing around the image with a pencil and fussy cutting the foam with a scissor.

Two Rectangles were cut from some more Bristol Smooth Cardstock and die cut using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX die.  The first rectangle was blended with Distress Tumbled Glass Ink to create the sky for the scene.  The second rectangle was cut again using a Lawn Fawn Simple Stitched Hillside Border die and then ink blended with Distress Mowed Lawn.  The two were adhered together using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

The golfer was placed on the rectangle to determine where to stamp the sentiment from the same stamp set.  Distress Oxide Blueprint Sketch was used for stamping.  The golfer was added to the scene by adding Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive to the foam backing.  Little golf balls were added by using Queen  & Co. Pearls.

Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the focal image rectangle and it was adhered to a side folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.

Now It’s Time to Celebrate

I really love the Art Impression images.  They are so fun and playful and they make really great cards.  When I saw this stamp set I had to have it.  I love the way it turned out.

I stamped the image on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock since I wanted to color it with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers (045 Pale Green, 041 Light Green, 083 Lilac, 080 Violet, 036 Light Blue, 031 Cobalt Blue, 034 Dull Blue, 030 Blue, 051 Lemon Yellow, 050 Yellow, 026 Light Pink, 021 Light Carmine, 071 Flesh, 064 Oatmeal, 072 Beige, 061 Light Brown, 067 Mustard, 066 Dark Oatmeal, 065 Mid Brown, 062 Dark Brown, 091 Light Gray).

Once it was dry I cut around the image using the PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo.  I placed the cutout on some Darice Sticky Back Foam and traced around the image with a pencil and fussy cut the foam and added it to the back of the image.

A scalloped rectangle was cut from some more Bristol Smooth Cardstock using the Winnie and Walter Audrey Essential Die.  Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass was added with a mini blending tool.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back for dimension.  The die cut image was placed on the rectangle to determine where to stamp the sentiment with Distress Oxide Black Soot and then the focal image was adhered with Nuvo deluxe Adhesive.

A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image rectangle was adhered using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  The final embellishments were to add some Clear Wink of Stella to the pom poms and add complimentary colors of Nuvo Crystal Drops to the shadows for dimension.  Multi-colored pearls were scattered around the image and the card was done.

Happy Birthday Cupcake

I decided that I wanted to used the Altenew Layered Plaid A for a subtle background to a masculine card and love the way it turned out.  The blue and grey color pallet is really pretty against the white.

I created a top folding A2 cardbase from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  I cut the Altenew Layered Plaid A die from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and sprayed the back with Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.  I really works well when you have delicate die cuts.

I stamped the Avery Elle Cupcakes with Distress Oxide Broken China and Hickory Smoke.  I enhanced shadows and the flame with Copic Markers.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back for dimension and adhered to the lower left of the card with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

The sentiment combines a die cut word from Lawn Fawn’s Happy Happy Happy, cut from Silver Mirror Cardstock, and another three times from gray cardstock, adhered together with Ranger Collage Medium.  The secondary greeting was from Winnie & Walter’s Sentimental Birthday was stamped on a scrap of gray cardstock with Distress Oxide Broken China and cut into a thin strip with an angled end.  A thin strip 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back and then it was adhered below the “happy” die cut word.

Wish Big Masculine Card

It seems like I go through spurts where I create a lot of masculine birthday cards at one time.  Maybe I just get my masculine mojo working and it’s easier to keep on going.  This card was inspired by the plaid patterned paper from my scraps.  I really like the way it turned out, maybe that’s becaue red is my favorite color.

I stamped one of the cupcakes from the Avery Elle Cupcakes stamp and die onto Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock.  I used colors that complimented the patterned paper, Distress Oxide Fired Brick, Antique Linen, and Twisted Citron.  To add dimension and shadows I used Copic Markers (E19, E08, B95, BG75, BG72; YG95, YG93, YG91, YG23, YG03, YG01; Y38, Y35, YR16; E40; E55).  I then die cut the images with the matching dies and added some Darice Sticky Back Foam to the back.

I created a top folding A2 cardbase from Gina K. Designs Red Velvet Base Weight Cardstock, added a square of the the plaid patterned paper and stamped the sentiment from Papertrey Ink Stylish Sentiments:Birthday with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  I decided to add a strip of blue cardstock as a separation, then I adhered the cupcake with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  Clear Wink of Stella was added to the frosting and flame, along with a few Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Gold Sequins and the card was done.

Wish – It’s Your Birthday

When I saw the Altenew Layered Plaid dies I thought they would make great masculine cards.  I also really like the new My Favorite Things Wish Die.  For this card I used a green, yellow and orange color pallet.

I pulled paper from my scraps to make this card.  It is a little brighter than I anticipated, but I like the way it looks.  I cut the green base color to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  I then die cut the plaids from scraps of yellow and orange.  I used Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive to adhere them to the cardbase.

Originally I only cut the Wish die with green, but it got lost on the page with how busy the background was, so I die cut it again from the yellow and orange and stacked them slightly offset to see all the colors.  I pulled out some Copic Markers to give some color dimension and then added Glossy Accents.  This helped the sentiment standout on the card.  I stamped the secondary sentiment from CA Designs Birthday Palooza onto yellow cardstock with Altenew Evergreen Ink and used Copic Markers to give it a little ombre effect.  I added it under the Wish die cut word with a thin strip of 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape and the card was done.

Starry Night Happy Birthday

I needed a masculine birthday card and decided to use a star theme.  I pulled out my Memory Box Starry Night Background die and cut it from Gina K. Designs Base Weight Onyx Black Cardstock cut to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.  I backed it with a rectangle of Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and adhered them together with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  The panel was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from the same black cardstock.

For the focal image I die cut the largest Spellbinders Star Five die from the same mirror cardstock.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut with the same die and trimmed with scissors to be just smaller and was adhered to the back and then adhered to the background with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

For the sentiment I die cut one of the “Happy” words from the Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy stamp and die set from black cardstock and adhered it to the center of the large star with Ranger Collage Medium.  The secondary sentiment was stamped on a scrap of black cardstock with VersaMark Ink and embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  It was cut into a thin strip with an angled end and adhered to the large star with the same Collage Medium.  I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the Happy word and the card was done.

Wish You the Most Beautiful Day Window Card

I have had the Spellbinders Windows 2 die ever since I began purchasing dies, and I’ve never used it.  I decided that I would challenge myself to use some of those things that sit on my shelves collecting dust.  Not sure how often I will use this die, but I really like the way it turned out.

I die cut the window from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock.  I  wanted it to look like the window was open and so I reinforced the score lines on the shutters.  To make it look more like a window I added a piece of acetate behind the cutout.

The die has a base at the bottom of the window that I decided to make look like a flower box.  But, first I needed to stamp the sentiment from Altenew’s Beautiful Day with Hero Hues India Ink Black.

I die cut a couple of Simon Says Stamp Calliope Flourishes (which I hadn’t used yet either), along with My Favorite Things Fresh Cut Flowers and Wildflower Centerpieces.  I colored them with Copic Markers RV11, RV14, V04, V06, V09, BG15, G24 and then adhered them to the flower box with Ranger Collage Medium.

I die cut the cardstock leftover from cutting the window with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle and ink blended it with Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade.  I added very thin strips of 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to the back of the window and adhered it back in place.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  I ink blended behind where the window would be with Distress Oxide Broken China.  The window panel was adhered using Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  Little pearls were added to the center of the flowers and the card was done.
