Celebrate: It’s Your Birthday

I was in need of some masculine birthday cards and so I decided to use the Sizzix Balloons and Cupcake die.  I cut it from both a royal blue and white cardstock I had in my stash.  Primary colors were used for the rest of the color pallet.

I decided to add some balloons with the cupcake and stamped the images using Distress Oxide Inks Fossilized Amber, Candied Apple, Blueprint Sketch.  I tied some Sulky Gold Metallic Thread to the balloons and adhered them to the back of the cupcake with some Scotch Tape.

A rectangle of Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock was die cut using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle.  The cupcake and balloons were placed on top to determine where to stamp the sentiment from SugarPea Designs Celebrate All Things, which was stamped in both the red and blue Oxide inks.  The cupcake and balloons were adhered to the card front using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  I decided that the focal image rectangle needed a little more pop to make it stand out and so I decided to mat it with some red cardstock that I had in my scraps.  I think it added the perfect splash of color.

For added visual interest I took a small waterbrush and painted some sprinkles on the frosting with the same Oxide inks.  As a final embellishment I added Stardust Stickles to the sprinkles and balloons and the card was done.

Happy Birthday Balloons & Presents Stack

I am always looking for stamps that would make great birthday cards, since I make so many of them.  When I saw this Chunky Birthday stamp from Stampendous I knew it would make great masculine cards.

I decided to watercolor the image so I stamped it with VersaFine Fine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts Ultra Fine Clear Embossing Powder on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock.  I used ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers (020 Red, 070 Orange, 052 Bright Yellow, 043 Olive Green, 031 Cobalt Blue, 032 Persian Blue, 084 Deep Violet, 080 Violet) to color it in a rainbow pallet.

Once the coloring was dry the image was die cut with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle.  It was matted with Gina K. Designs Onyx Black Base Weight Cardstock.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added for dimension.  The focal image rectangle was adhered to a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Birthday Balloon Wishes

I recently purchased the Sparkle ‘n Sprinkle New Balloon Bunch.  I love simple birthday images that can be used for masculine birthday cards.  I find them the most challenging to create.  For this card I decided to watercolor the image with ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers in a rainbow hue.

This is a digital image and so it was printed on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock with a laser printer and then colored with 020 Red, 052 Bright Yellow, 043 Olive Green, 031 Cobalt Blue, 032 Persian Blue, 084 Deep Violet, 080 Violet.

The sentiment is from the Ranger Letter It Birthday stamp set.  It was stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed with Hero Arts Ultra Fine Clear Embossing Powder.

I cut the image down with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle die, matted it with a rectangle of turquoise cardstock I had in my stash.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back and the panel was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the ward was done.

Celebrate Your Special Day Cupcake

I have always loved the Whimsy Stamps Cupcake Trio.  I don’t think it is available anymore, but it makes a great masculine birthday card.  For this one I decided to use my Finetec Pearlescent Colours.

Because the Finetec Pearlescents are watercolors I stamped the image on a quarter sheet of Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts Ultra Fine Detailed Clear Embossing Powder.  I then watercolored the image with the Amethyst, Orange Copper, Pearl Silver, Pearl Gold, Sapphire Blue, Caribbean Green pallet.  When the image was colored I added fine splatters on the background with the same colors and a small watercolor brush.

The sentiment is from the SugarPea Designs Celebrate All Things stamp set and was stamped with the VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and heat set with the same clear embossing powder.

The image was sized down using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle.  A rectangle of Gina K. Designs Onyx Black Base Weight Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger and adhered to the back with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back for dimension and it was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase base from Gina K. Alcohol Ink Background Casting the Bait Birthday Wishes

My son loves fly fishing and red is his favorite color, so I decided the create an alcohol ink background that would look like colorful red sunset and then stamp the silhouette image of a fisherman from Woodware Stamps called Casting the Bait.  Love the way it turned out.

I used Terra Cotta, Watermelon, Caramel, Sunshine Yellow Ranger Alcohol Inks for the background.  When it was almost dry I used some Craft Deco Gold Foil, which would cling to the areas that still had a little moisture.  It created a striking background.  I left it to dry overnight and then sprayed it with Grumbacher Matte Final Fixative Spray before stamping the image from Woodware Stamp Set Casting the Bait.  I then ran it through the Big Shot with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back and then it was adhered to a side folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs Black Onyx Base Weight Cardstock and the card was done.

Anemone Happy Birthday

Even though I love the font of the Mama Elephant Birthday Wishes stamp I rarely use it because it is so large.  But it worked perfectly with this card design.

I stamped the flowers and leaves with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto some Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock, since I planned to color them with Copic Markers. The sprig was stamped with Altenew Forest Glad so the stems would be green. The Copic Markers colors used were: B95, B93, B91; G99, G94, G24; YG67, YG17, YG03, YG97, YG95, YG93. I used Carnation Pink Nuvo Crystal Drops for the berries on the green sprigs. For the stamen in the center of the flowers I used a white Uniball Gel Pen.

I die cut a rectangle of the same white cardstock using the largest Winnie and Walter Audrey Essentials Rectangle Die. Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller and adhered to the back of the rectangle.

After the berries were dry I arranged the flowers, leaves, and sprigs the way I liked them and used Press ‘n Seal to keep them together. This allows you to move them around on the card to see where to place the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment  using Hero Hues India Ink Black. Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive was used to glue down the leaves and sprigs, holding it in place for a few moments to allow it to set. I carefully removed the flowers and added 3M 1/2″ foam tape to the back, removed the backing, and carefully turned of the Press ‘n Seal to adhere them where I desired.

Anemone Heartfelt Sympathy

When I initially saw Gina K. Designs Anemone stamp set I was not impressed and so I did not purchase it.  Then I saw a card that someone created using it and I was blown away with how beautiful the flowers were with their dark centers.

Unfortunately I’ve had a reason to use several sympathy cards recently and needed to create a few more to have on hand.  I love the way this card turned out.  Clean and simple in style, and oh so elegant.

I stamped the flowers and leaves with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto some Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock, since I planned to color them with Copic Markers.  The sprig was stamped with Altenew Forest Glad so the stems would be green.  The Copic Markers colors used were: YR15, YR14, YR00; G99, G94, G24; YG67, YG17, YG03, YG97, YG95, YG93.  I used Navy Nuvo Crystal Drops for the berries on the green sprigs.  For the stamen in the center of the flowers I used a white Uniball Gel Pen.

I die cut a rectangle of the same white cardstock using a My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle.

I stamped the sentiment from the Avery Elle With Sympathy stamp set using Hero Hues India Ink Black.
