Modern Floral Wishing You Joy Today Take II

When I saw this stamp set from Pink Fresh Studio I knew it would make some awesome card. I used Jennifer McGuire’s technique and die cut multiple images from white cardstock. Then I used one of the rectangles with the negative openings and placed a die cut in the opening and stamped it with the colors desired. This way you don’t have to realign the layers every time, only once, cleaning the stamp well between different colors. It went very quickly.

For this card I used pink flowers and create a bouquet with a ribbon bow. I die cut a scalloped rectangle and added the flowers and leaves. A ribbon was made from white organza ribbon an d adhered at the bottom of the bouquet. Sticky back foam was added to the back of the rectangle and it was adhered to a top folding cardbase with liquid glue.

The sentiment was stamped on black cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. It was cut using Pink and Main Sentiment Strip that has double flag ends. It was adhered using foam tape.

To add some visual interest I die cut a rectangle using a Memory Box Matinee Rectangle.

For this card I used coral colors for my flowers. I arrangement them in a mirror of one another and added a sentiment in between.

The final embellishment was to add some clear droplets around the flower bouquet.

Modern Floral Sending Big Hugs

When I saw this stamp set from Pink Fresh Studio I knew it would make some awesome card. I used Jennifer McGuire’s technique and die cut multiple images from white cardstock. Then I used one of the rectangles with the negative openings and placed a die cut in the opening and stamped it with the colors desired. This way you don’t have to realign the layers every time, only once, cleaning the stamp well between different colors. It went very quickly.

Once the stamping was done you have a lot of flowers and leaves to begin creating cards. For this card I used blue and yellow flowers, which is always a pretty combination, and arranged them so that I could have a circle sentiment in the middle.

I went through my stamps and found a sentiment I liked, stamped it on white cardstock, and then die cut it using a scalloped circle die. It was adhered in the middle of the flower arrangement with sticky back foam.

The final embellishment was to scatter a few matching sequins around the flower arrangement.

Below is another card I used with the same color combination in a little bit different layout.

Back On Your Feet Get Well Wishes

I have a friend who was recently undergoing some surgery and I wanted to send her a card. She is a quilter and when I saw this cute turtle snuggled under a patchwork quilt I thought it would be perfect for her.

Since this is a digital image I printed it with my laser printer. This ensures that the lines do not bleed when you color with Copic Markers.

Once the coloring was complete I cut it out using the PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo Software.

I went through my stash of cardstock and found an orange that matched the color of the quilt. I die cut a rectangle using a stitched rectangle die. I also cut thin strips from some scraps of orange and white patterned paper.

Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back of the orange rectangle, which was then adhered to a side folding A2 cardbase. The patterned paper strips were added with dotliner adhesive.

The sentiment is from Stampin’ Up’s Back On Your Feet. It was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the die cut image which was then adhered to the front of the orange rectangle.

Lovely Lilacs Happy Birthday

This is another Penny Black Stamp that works best when you use a watercolor medium and spritz it with water after adding the color and then stamping onto watercolor paper. You do this several times until the image has the depth and detail that you want. For this card I used Distress Mini Ink Cubes in Wilted Violet, salty Ocean, and Peel Paint.

If I were to do this card again I would add more lilac stems in the background, but I love lilacs and the combination of the blue and violet really make a pretty flower.

When the stamping was done I used Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass to ink blend the background.

The sentiment was stamped onto black cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed white. It was cut into a thin strip and an angled edge.

The panel was cut to be slightly smaller than an A2 cardbase using a stitched rectangle die. Sticky back foam was added to the back of the panel for dimension and it was then adhered to a side folding cardbase with liquid glue.

Nature’s Glory Today is Your Day

I have several of Penny Black Stamps that are the kind you stamp over and over again to get a good impression. You usually use watercolor markers and add the ink color to the stamp and then mist it with water and stamp it onto watercolor paper. You repeat this process until you have the look that you want to achieve. For this card I pulled out my Arteza Real Brush Markers.

When the stamping of the image was complete I used a Pigma Micron Pen to add the black centers to the flowers. The sentiment is from Penny Black’s Carefree Wishes and was stamped with Gina K. Designs Amalgam Ink.

I decided to cut the image using an Ellen Hutson two Essential Rectangle Die. These are wonderful dies that not long cut a rectangle but also a thin border as well. I first used the largest die to cut down the focal image panel to be slightly smaller than an A2 cardbase. The second rectangle cut the center of the flower image. This rectangle was also cut from red cardstock to add a thin red border/frame to the image. This really draws the eye to the red of the flowers and adds a lot of visual interest. I used painters tape to hold all of the rectangle panels and border together. Sticky back foam was cut to be just smaller than the focal image rectangle and added to the back for dimension. The panel was then adhered to a top folding cardbase with liquid glue.

Unforgettable Happy Birthday

I love this pretty flower bouquet from Penny Black. I wanted a soft look to the card and so I decided to use my ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I stamped the image with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. This is the easiest way to watercolor. The embossing creates little wells were you can add your color and it won’t bleed into the adjacent petals.

I watercolored the background, but it was a little splotchy and so I ink blended it with Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass, which gave a smoother look.

The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter’s Sentimental Birthday set and was stamped and embossed as well in the lower right of the card.

I die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle and added sticky back foam to the back for dimension. It was then adhered to a side folding cardbase and the card was done. Very quick and easy card.

Beautiful Butterflies Get Your Happy On

When I get a new stamp I tend to make quite a few cards with it to make sure I’m getting my money’s worth. For this card I used all the butterflies in Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Butterflies and stamped them a couple of times with Memento London Fog Ink. I then stamped the largest butterfly with Distress Oxide Candied Apple Ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. The center was colored with some red Copic Markers. I didn’t have coordinating Dies for the butterfly so I used my Silhouette PIXScan Mat to cut out the image.

I cut down the background with a rectangle die 1/8″ smaller than an A2 cardbase. Even though I didn’t use black ink to stamp the butterfly background it was still very distracting when I when to place the red focal image butterfly on top so I decided to cover it with some vellum. I love the way that vellum softens a background, but it is difficult to adhered. I had seen Nina Marie Trapani cut vellum larger than the panel, miter the edges and fold them back, adhering it with dotliner adhesive. I decided to give it a try and it worked perfectly.

I decided to add a thin red mat to the back of the butterfly panel, but I didn’t have an exact match red cardstock, so I used the Candied Apple ink to color the edge of a panel 1/16″ larger than the background and adhered the vellum background panel to it with liquid glue. The panel was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase with the same glue.

I adhered the focal image butterfly with some Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape. I like this tape because it has a lower loft than my 3M foam tape but still adds some great dimension.

I stamped the sentiment with the same Candied Apple Ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I used the same Copic Markers to color the background of the sentiment and matted it with a thin border rectangle that the edges had been colored with the same red it. Simon Says Stamp foam tape was added to the back and it was adhered to the lower right corner of the card front.

The final embellishment was to add some red sequins from my stash.

Beautiful Butterflies Get Your Happy On

The Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Butterflies is a love set that has many butterfly images. I decided to stamp the butterflies as a background with VersaMark Ink, heat emboss them clear. I then used Distress Oxide Inks to ink blend the background.

I die cut the panel with an Ellen Hutson Essential Rectangle die so that it was just smaller than an A2 cardbase. I also used a smaller rectangle to cut out the center of the panel. I really like that these dies give you a thin frame. I cut it again from white cardstock.

The sentiment is from Penny Black’s Carefree Wishes. It was stamped on black cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. It was die cut using a Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Label Die and then I angled one end to provide some visual interest.

To assemble the card I used a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock. I adhered to frame of the background directly to the cardbase with dotliner adhesive. I then added a thin line of liquid glue next to the center of the frame and added the thin white border. Foam was added to the back of the center rectangle panel and then it was adhered to the card front with liquid glue. Because the center panel was already popped up and I didn’t want to add more bulk to the card for mailing, the sentiment strip was adhered directly to the center panel with liquid glue.

I really like the color combination used for the ink blended background and crisp white images of butterflies.

Hearts Closer Congratulations

We have a friend who lost her husband to cancer a while ago and is remarrying soon. Michael asked me to create a wedding card for her. I now she has a lot of gray and white in her home with touches of light colors, so I decided to make a white flower with light pink centers. I think it turned out pretty.

I have used this beautiful flower stamp from Altenew before and it makes such a gorgeous card. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, my go to when coloring with Copic Markers.

I decided to cut a panel of cardstock to add behind the flower and looked at a light gray, and light pink, but eventually settled Gina K. Designs Slate Gray Cardstock, which is a deep rich color. I added foam tape behind the flowers to add dimension and adhered it to the gray panel, which really let the flowers pop.

For a sentiment I die cut Simon Says Stamp Celebrate word die from silver mirror cardstock and fun foam. I cut away the foam where the sentiment would rest on top of the flowers.

The focal panel was adhered to a side folding cardbase and the card was done. I hope Luray likes it and knows how happy we are for her to find someone to fill the hole in her heart.
