Everything Wonderful Watercolor Birthday

It is amazing how different a card looks depending on the type of embossing you use. For this card I used white embossing powder, which gives a soft look to the image.

The image was stamped with VersaMark Ink onto watercolor cardstock and heat embossed. It was colored using the Karin Brushmarkers, this time using pink colors, with accents of yellow and purple. Once it was dry it was die cut using the coordinating die.

I die cut a a decorative rectangle using the Memory Box Matinee Rectangle and adhered it to a top folding A2 cardbase with dotliner adhesive.

For this card I decided to turn the image I wondered what the flower bouquet would look like if I adhered it in portrait format and really liked it. I laid it on the card front to determine where to stamp the sentiment, then adhered the flowers using foam squares.

Everything Wonderful Watercolor Hello

I love this flower spray from Honey Bee. It makes gorgeous cards. I stamped it on Canson XL Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it gold. It looks lovely against the orange and red colors of the flowers. I colored the image with Karin Brushmarkers. Once the watercolor was dry the image was die cut using the coordinating dies.

For some visual interest behind the flower I die cut a panel of Neena Classic Crest 80# Cardstock with a stitched rectangle die and then dry embossed it with the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder. It was adhered a side folding cardbase with dotliner adhesive. The flower bouquet was adhered using foam squares for dimension.

The sentiment is Honey Bee’s Hello. It was die cut from gold mirror cardstock and sticky back foam. The two were adhered together. I find it much easier to line things up if I leave the foam die cut in place, remove the backing, and place the gold die cut on top. I cut away the foam from the places of the sentiment that would rest on the flower arrangement and then adhered it with liquid glue.

Perfectly Perfect Watercolor Birthday

I love Altenew’s flower stamps. They make such lovely cards. I pulled out the Perfectly Perfect Set and stamped them on watercolor paper with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed them gold.

I know there are not a lot of blue flowers in nature, but in the crafting world you can make a flower any color you want. I used a pretty Cyan color from the Karin Brushmarkers to color the flowers and a couple of greens for the leaves. Once they were dry I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I decided to add some visual interest by cutting a scalloped rectangle to adhere the flowers to. I laid them out where I wanted them and then determined where I wanted and took a picture so I could place them again in the same layout after I stamped the sentiment.

I adhered the leaves and two back flowers directly to the scalloped rectangle with liquid glue and then adhered the top flower with foam squares. The scalloped rectangle was adhered to a side folding cardbase using Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape.

All the Cupcakes Watercolor Birthday

I recently purchased the new My Favorite Things All the Cupcakes stamp and die. For this card I decided to use all the images to create my own background paper. I stamped the cupcakes with Gina K. Designs Amalgam Ink because it is watercolor safe. I then used my new Karin Brushmarker Pros to color them.

Once the watercolor was done I cut down the panel using a stitched rectangle and then matted it with black cardstock. The sentiment was stamped on black cardstock and heat embossed white and then cut into a rectangle and adhered to the bottom of the card front with foam tape.

The final embellishment to the card was to scatter assorted colored gems around the cupcakes. A quick and easy card to create.

Lined Flowers Watercolor Birthday

I recently purchased the My Favorite Things Loosely Lined Flowers Background stamp and decided to use my new Karin Brushmarker Pro to color it.

I stamped it on Canson XL Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it gold. I tried couple of way to add the color to the flowers. First I added the color directly to the base of the petal and then added water, starting at the edge of the petal and moving down to the center and letting the color spread through the water. The second way I tried was to add water to the petal first and then add a little bit of color to the base of the petal and let it spread. Both ways worked well. You get a lot of shadow and depth with these markers, and you can fade them out to a light color at the tips of the petals using only one color.

I decided to add a very dark green background to these flowers. I was impressed with out deep of a color you can get with these markers. I think the dark color really lets the flowers pop on the page.

Once the watercolor was dry I cut down the panel with a stitched rectangle and adhered it to a white cardbase with liquid glue.

I used the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Word Mix 1 stamp for the sentiment, stamping it with VersaMark and heat embossing it gold, then using the matching die to cut it out and adhering it to the lower right of the card front with foam tape.

Floral Fantasy Watercolor Birthday

I recently purchased the Karin Brushmarkers Pro set and decided to give them a try. We are currently traveling in our fifth wheel across the United States and I brought only a few of my stamps with me. I decided to use this new background stamp from My Favorite Things. I stamped on Canson XL Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.

I found the Karin Brushmarkers very easy to use and very vibrant in hue. You can soften the color by scribbling the markers on a palette and then picking them up with a brush, but overall I really enjoyed using them.

Once the watercolor was dry I used a stitched rectangle to cut down the watercolored panel and adhered it directly to a top folding A2 white cardbase with liquid glue.

The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things Birthday word Mix 1. It was stamped on Neena Classic Crest 80# Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed gold. I used the matching die to cut out the sentiment, added some foam tape to the back and adhered to the lower right of the card front.

Taking pictures on the road has proved a little challenging. I hope you can see the vibrant colors you get with these markers.
