Delightful Blooms Birthday Wishes

I had an envelop sitting on my desk from a previous card I made using Gina K. Designs Delightful Blooms and needed to give it a card to go with it. I love this pretty stamp set, it has two gorgeous bouquets of flowers to choose from.

I stamped it first with a light gray ink and colored it with Copic Markers. I like the combination of the light pink with the darker plum. Once the color was complete I put it back in the MISTI and re-stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it gold.

For the sentiment I did a little stamp surgery. I cut about one of the sentiments in the stamp set so that I could stack it in the available space in the lower right of the card. It too was stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed gold.

The focal image panel was sized down using a stitched rectangle. Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back for dimension. The front of a top folding cardbase was dry embossed using the Cuttlebug Oxford embossing Folder and the focal image panel was adhered to the front of the card with liquid glue.

Foil Frame Happy Birthday

I have been experimenting with the Gemini FoilPress Machine and decided to use the Crafter’s Companion Ornate Frame. Working with hot foil takes some experimenting to get it right with different types of dies. On this one it took a couple of tries. This die not only hot foils but cuts as well. Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the frame.

I laid the frame on the side rectangle of cardstock to determine where to heat foil the sentiment. I cut down the rectangle with a stitched rectangle and then dry embossed it using the Stampin’ Up Subtle Embossing Folder. The embossed rectangle was added to a side folding cardbase with dotliner adhesive. The foiled frame was adhered to the front by removing the paper covering on the foam tape.

I decided to use the Altenew Garden Picks 3D Dies to create a focal image for the card. I colored Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with Copic Markers in different shades of pink and green and then cut the layers and assembled them together with liquid glue. There were adhered with liquid glue and foam tape to the bottom of the foiled frame.

I think it turned out lovely.

I Adore You Emma – Happy Birthday

My granddaughter Emma is turning 15 the 2nd of January. It’s hard to believe how quickly time is passing. Her favorite color is turquoise and she is getting old enough that I wanted to create a more grown up card. I wanted a flower that was open and allowed for Copic coloring. I pulled out Altenew’s Adore You. I stamped it first with Memento London Fog and after color I stamped again with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Super Fine Detail Silver Embossing Powder.

I wanted a pretty background for the flowers and decided to use Altenew’s Frilly Frame, cut from silver mirror cardstock. I adhered it to the front of a top folding card using Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive. I adhered the bacl flower and leaves with liquid glue. The top two flowers were adhered using Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape.

The sentiment was heat foiling using Silver foil and Yana’s Sentiments Glimmer die. I used the coordinating die to cut out the sentiment and cut it again three times from white cardstock and adhered them together and then at the bottom of the frame with liquid glue.

Happy Birthday Wreath for Janae

My daughter Janae was born on January 1st. Her favorite color is turquoise. I had loved the result of previously foiling the Spellbinders Foliage Border and decided to use it for Janae’s birthday card. This time I used silver foil.

The die has a circle with only a third of the floral, this is also what the matching die cuts. To create a full circle you have to foil it three times. I used partial die cutting to cut out the wreath. It worked great.

Pretty small flowers and leaves were foiled, die cut and added to the wreath in the small open areas between the three separate foiling. I also pulled a leaf from Spellbinders Organic Foliage to fill out the wreath.

I used Copic Markers to add a little turquoise color to the foiled images. The flowers and leaves were adhered with liquid glue and Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape for the flower on top.

Yana Smakula’s pretty sentiment fit perfectly in the circle. They have matching dies. I cut the foiled sentiment four times and adhered them together with liquid glue, the foiled sentiment on top. It was then adhered to the center of the wreath.

To add some visual interest to the card the front of the top folding cardbase was dry embossed using the Stampin’ Up Tufted Embossing Folder. A circle of sticky back foam was added to the back of the wreath and it was then adhered to the front of the card.

Foiled Fantasy Floral Happy Birthday

I decided to use a Spellbinders Glimmer Circle Pattern for a card. I foiled the circle pattern onto some 80# Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock using gold foil. It turned out beautiful. I then foiled the Glimmer Stylish Script into the center of the circle. I had learned previously that you get better results foiling separately the different glimmer dies.

I pulled out the Hero Arts Infinity Circle Dies to die cut the circle pattern. I used a smaller circle die to cut some Darice Sticky Back Foam and added it to the back of the circle.

I looked through my dies and selected the Pink Fresh Studio Diagonal Stitched Rectangle to cut a panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock. It was then embossed using Stampin’ Up Subtle Embossing Folder. This rectangle was adhered to the front of a top folding cardbase. The glimmer circle was adhered to the front with liquid glue.

I decided to add a floral die cut to the circle. I pulled out the pretty Altenew Fantasy Floral 3D Dies. I decided to color cardstock by using the mini ink pads and running them directly onto to the cardstock. Once the ink was dry the layers were then cut and adhered together using liquid glue. Sticky back foam was added to the portions of the flower and leaves that overhung the circle.

Golden Birthday Wishes

I wanted to try using some of the foil dies borders from Spellbinders. I first stamped the My Favorite Things Balloon Bundle with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock. I used Arteza Real Brush Pens to color the image. I like these pens because they seem to retain a depth of color when water is added.

Once the color was complete and dry I pulled out the a Spellbinders Essential Glimmer Rectangle to add a gold foil border around the image. I learned not to be stingy on the foil. My piece was almost too small and some of the dots on the right don’t have as crisp of a foil debossing, but good enough that I didn’t throw it away. I tried foiling the sentiment at the same time as the rectangle. If found out that it is best to foil separately. The sentiment wasn’t crisp and so I foiled it again onto a scrap of cardstock and then die cut it with a Honey Bee Stamps Banner Die.

I cut down the focal image rectangle using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle and added Darice Sticky Back Foam to the back for dimension. However, I didn’t like the way it looked with the black ink around the balloons. The stamp was still in my MISTI, but I had cut down the cardstock. I carefully placed the die cut rectangle into the negative opening of the rectangle and then stamped over the balloons with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it gold.

Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the sentiment and it was adhered directly below the balloons. The card was now done.

Detailed Rose Birthday Wishes

I recently purchase Simon Says Stamp’s Detailed Rose. It included the outline of the rose and leaf as well as the base for each. I turned out as pretty as I thought it would.

I pulled out some textured paper from Paper Studio for the background of the images. I thought the texture would be enough, but after putting them together I felt like there needed to be some added depth to the flower petals and the center of the leaves.

I die cut a panel of Neenah Classic Crest Cardstock using the Memory Box Matinee Rectangle Die. I placed the flower and leaves to the rectangle to determine where to stamp the sentiment using VersaMark Ink and embossing it with gold embossing powder. Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the die cuts and then adhered to the top of the rectangle.

I like the look of adding visual interest to a white on white card with an embossing folder. I used the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder and embossed the front of a side folding cardbase. Simon Says Stamp’s Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the matinee rectangle and then the focal image was adhered to the front.

The final embellishment was to scatter some gold confetti around the card front.

Hot Foil Birthday Wreath

I got the Gemini Foilpress Machine for my birthday and finally had a chance to play with it. I decided to use the pretty Foliage Border from Spellbinders. The die had the circle but only a third of the floral, this is also what the matching die cuts. To create a full circle you have to foil it three times. I’ve seen the way other people have created a full wreath by cutting it three times and then gluing them together. I decided to do partial die cutting. It worked great.

Because you aren’t working with a full die there are small gaps between each foiled foliage. The Foliage Border has some pretty small flowers and leaves that can be foiled, die cut, and added to the wreath. I also pulled a leaf from Spellbinders Organic Foliage to fill out the wreath.

I used Copic Markers to add a little color to the foiled images. The flowers and leaves were adhered with liquid glue and Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape for the flower on top.

Yana Smakula created some pretty sentiments that fit perfectly in the circle. They have matching dies. I cut the foiled sentiment four times and adhered them together with liquid glue and then adhered in the center of the wreath.

To add some visual interest to the card the front of the top folding cardbase was dry embossed using the Stampin’ Up Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. A circle of sticky back foam was added to the back of the wreath and it was then adhered to the front of the card.

The picture does not do justice to the beautiful debossed foil image.

Butterfly Garden Thank You

I had some extra Silhouette cut Thank You sentiments sitting on my desk and decided to put them to use. I adhered the four layers together with liquid glue and then covered the top of the sentiment with VersaMark Ink four times, adding gold embossing powder each time until it gave a smooth gold chipboard look.

I went through my flower patterned papers and found this pretty purple and white design. I cut it down with a scalloped rectangle and adhered it to a quarter sheet of light purple cardstock. The panel was then adhered to a side folding A2 cardbase. The sentiment was adhered to the center.

The final embellishment was to scatter some Pretty Pink Posh Enchanted Garden Sequin Mix and the card was done.

A Christmas Musical Masculine Thank You

Yesterday, December 20, we had our Church Christmas Program. For the first time since COVID we had musical number at church. I have really missed hearing music, it brings such a wonderful feeling to a meeting. I wanted to express my thanks to those who shared their musical talents yesterday. One was a young man you played “I Heart the Bells on Christmas Day” on the piano. I didn’t want to send him the same card I had sent to the women who performed, so I looked through my patterned paper and found this great plaid.

As with the previous card, I create the sentiment in the Silhouette Cameo and die cut it four times from navy cardstock. I also cut a shadow using pale yellow cardstock. It was the perfect combination.

I didn’t want to add a flower die cut and remembered that I had recently purchased Altenew’s Leaf Mix Dies. They were perfect for a masculine thank you.

The patterned paper was cut using a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Die and adhered to the a side folding cardbase. The sentiment and leaves were adhered to the patterned paper with liquid glue. I really like the way it turned out.
