Celebrate You Mona

Every Monday I check my birthday list to see what cards I need to send out that week. My dear friend Mona has a birthday coming up. Her favorite colors are red, yellow, and olive green. I check my stash of completed cards and didn’t have anything with that color scheme, so I pulled out another beautiful Altenew layering stamp to make a card just for Mona.

I first stamped the outline of the flowers onto Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and then added the layers. The first colors of ink I choose weren’t dark enough so I stamped the layers again in a different ink that made it a deeper red. The leaves don’t have an outline, but the last layer give more of an outline feel and I stamped it in the darkest green.

I decided to use a scalloped rectangle that was embossed with some pretty leaves for the background behind the flowers. When I have an embossed panel I usually use liquid glue to attach it to the card front, since I feel it does a better job adhering the highs and lows.

I arranged the flowers and leaves the way I liked them and then picked them up with Press ‘n Seal, which has a low tack and allows you to keep the arrangement in place while you turn it over to add adhesive. All the leaves and the two back flowers were adhered with liquid glue. The top yellow flower was adhered using a lower loft foam tape and the front red flower with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape which has a higher loft, giving different levels of dimension to the card.

The beautiful My Favorite Things Celebrate die was cut from both gold mirror cardstock and sticky back foam. I find this the easiest way to add dimension to a die cut sentiment. The secondary sentiment was stamped onto a scrap of black cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed white. I used a Pink and Main Sentiment Strip to cut it out and adhered it directly over the word “celebrate” with liquid glue.

The last embellishment was to add clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen to the red flowers and another card was done.

With Sympathy Bouquet

This last set of sympathy cards created for Senior Life Resources Northwest uses Simon Says Stamp Bouquet of Thanks.

I first stamp the image onto a quarter sheet of Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and then colored it with Copic Markers. When the coloring was complete it was stamped again using VersaMark Ink and heat embossed gold. The image then cutout using the coordinating die.

To add visual interest behind the flowers a panel of white cardstock was cut using a stitched rectangle die and then dry embossed using the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder. This panel was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase with liquid glue.

I tried using 3M 1/2″ Foam tape and cutting it down to fit behind the stems and flowers, but it was time consuming. I finally used the coordinating die to cut out sticky back foam and adhered the flower arrangement onto. The flower bouquet was then adhered to the embossed panel with liquid glue.

For the sentiment I pulled out some yellow cardstock I had in scraps and stamped the sentiment with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it gold. It was cut down using a Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Label. Small pieces of sticky back foam was added to either side of the strip, leaving the center open where the stems were on the bouquet. It was adhered using liquid glue.

Beautiful Heart With Sympathy

This second set of sympathy cards for Senior Life Resources Northwest also uses an Altenew layering stamp set. This time, with the design of the stamp set, I decided to stamp the layers onto colored cardstock.

I cut down pieces of pink and green cardstock to the appropriate size for the image and stamped the layers with Altenew Inks. I used my heat gun to ensure the ink layers were completely dry before stamping the last outline layer in VersaMark Ink and heat setting it with gold embossing powder. The images were then cut out using the coordinating dies.

To add some visual interest to the card a panel of white cardstock was cutout using the Penny Black Swirly Stitched Rectangle Die.

The sentiment was cut from gold mirror cardstock. To determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment the flower and leaves were laid in place and the small sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed gold. Once the embossing was cool the panel was run through the Big Shot with the Stampin’ Up Subtle Embossing Folder. This panel was adhered to a side folding A2 cardbase with dotliner adhesive.

The gold cutout sentiment and leaves were adhered to the embossed panel with liquid glue and the large flower was adhered using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

Wishing You Comfort and Peace

The last type of card I created for Senior Life Resources Northwest were Sympathy card. Sometime they loose a client and they give cards to the family members.

This first set of card uses the lovely Altenew Beautiful Day Stamp Set. This is a layering stamp. I cut down Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock to fit the image and stamped each layer five times (ten times for the flowers, since I used two). It really goes together pretty quickly with a MISTI stamping tool. The smaller flowers do not have layers, so they were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers. Once the stamping and coloring was complete the images were cutout using the coordinating dies.

I die cut a scalloped rectangle of white cardstock and laid the flowers and leaves on top to determine where to stamp the sentiment. Once it was stamped the scalloped rectangle was run through the Big Shot with the Stampin’ Up Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. This add great visual interest behind the flowers. This scalloped rectangle was adhered to a side folding A2 cardbase with liquid glue.

The small flower bunch and the leaves were adhered to the embossing panel with liquid glue. The back flower was adhered using Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape and the top flower with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape, which has a higher loft.

Masculine You Couldn’t Be More Awesome

The last nine masculine thank you card for the Senior Life Resources Northwest used some of the lovely watercolor looking paper from Momenta. It has some beautiful colors, the one I am highlight in the post is teal, but I also used green, turquoise, orange, and blue. All the papers were cut down to the size of an A2 cardbase and adhered to the front of a top folding card with dotliner adhesive.

Each card was stamped with the large sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Thankful Flowers, along with a secondary sentiment from the same stamp set and heat embossed either gold or silver, depending on the color of the cardstock.

I liked the way it looked but it needed a little more visual interest, so I decided to cut a thin frame using one of Ellen Hutson Essential Rectangle from mirror cardstock. It was just the added touch that was needed.

Masculine Silver Polka Dot Thanks

For this second masculine thank you card for the Senior Life Resources Northwest I used a piece of watercolor paper with silver foiled polka dots. I cut down the paper to be the same size as an A2 cardbase and adhered it to the front with dotliner adhesive.

I die cut the word thanks from silver cardstock, but it got lost in all the silver polka dots, so I cut a small rectangle from leftover cardstock without any silver dots and adhered the thanks to the front. I then created a silver mat behind the sentiment panel and adhered it to the bottom right of the card using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

A second card was created from the leftover cardstock that only had a few silver foiled dots. Two cards from one panel of cardstock.

Masculine Thanks On an Angle

After I thought I had completed the thank you cards for Senior Life Resources Northwest I saw they were all flowers. I know they have a need for masculine thank you cards and so I thought I should put together a few. I pulled out a great 12×12 paper pack that I have Momenta that has pretty watercolor looking paper. Some have foiled accents.

For this first masculine thank you I had a piece of this lovely diagonal striped paper leftover in the paper pad and though it would make a great masculine card. I simply cut down the cardstock to the size of an A2 card and adhered it to a top folding cardbase. The word thanks was cut from silver mirror cardstock and adhered on the angle of the stripes, and the card was done.

Roses for Thanks

This fourth set of thank you card for the Senior Life Resources Northwest had me pulling out a stamp set I’ve had for a long time and haven’t use for several years. I don’t know why, the large rose image makes a beautiful statement on a card front. This card did take a little more time because it required a lot of die cutting.

I stamped the images onto a quarter sheet of Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and colored them with Copic Markers. Another quarter sheet of leaves were stamped to have enough for two leaves on five cards. When coloring was complete all images were cut out with the coordinating dies.

A stitched rectangle was used to cut a panel just smaller than an A2 cardbase. It was run through the Big Shot with the Stampin’ Up Subtle Embossing Folder.

The sentiment was cut from both mirror cardstock and sticky back foam.

To assemble the card the embossed panel was adhered to a side folding cardbase with dotliner adhesive. The rose but and leaves were adhered directly to this panel with liquid glue. 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the large rose, which was adhered in place by removing the backing on the tape. The sentiment was adhered using liquid glue.
