Mums Bouquet Happy Birthday

This is another card made by stamping an image to a Silhouette Cameo outline of a WPlus9 Beautiful Bouquet image.  This time I used the Mums stamp set.  Since I was going to use Copic Markers to color the image it was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. 00278w A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Next a yellow frame was cut using the Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Rectangle Die.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was cut in thirds and adhered to the back of the frame to add dimension.  When I went to apply the frame to the cardbase I found that this frame leaves are larger top and bottom border to an A2 cardbase.  I like to have my cards evenly spaced and so 1/4″ was cut from the length of the front and back of the card so that the overall size was 4 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ scored at 5 1/4″.

The sentiment was stamped with Hero Hues Black ink and is from Hero Arts Yummy Treats stamp set.  Foam tape was added to the back of the flower image and applied to the inside of the frame and the card was done.

Hollyhock Happy Birthday

Having outline dies really let a stamped image stand out on the page. That is why I always purchase matching dies if they are available, but the same effect can be achieved by either fussy cutting the image or creating a cut file in the Silhouette Cameo software.  Instructions for creating a Silhouette cutout image can be found on my September 29, 2016, post entitled “Happy Birthday Princess with Silhouette Cameo.

Penny Black Hollyhocks was stamped on a matching outline with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored with Copic Markers (colors are listed below).  To help the focal image to standout even more on the card an oval was cut from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock using My Favorite Things Pierced Ovals STAX and then run through the Big Shot with the Darice Dots Embossing Folder.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the hollyhock image and adhered to the oval shape.  Another oval was cut from Darice Adhesive Fun Foam and trimmed to be slightly smaller than the cardstock oval.

Matching pink cardstock from my stash was cut to 5 1/4″ x 4″ and adhered to the front of a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  This same glue was used to adhere the oval focal image to the front of the card.

The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Big Birthday Sentiments.  It was stamped with VersaMark Ink on a strip of 120# Gina K. Designs Black Cardstock, heat embossed with Gina K. Designs White Fine Detail Embossing Powder.  Two fishtail ends were added and the strip was applied with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

Ranunculus Happy Birthday

WPlus9 has such beautiful bouquet stamps and I hope they make more. This card was made with Beautiful Bouquet Ranunculus, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto an outline for the stamp cut with my Silhouette Cameo.  (Instructions for creating a cutout image can be found on the September 29, 2016, post entitled “Happy Birthday Princess with Silhouette Cameo.”)  Copic Markers used were: Y13, Y15, Y17; V12, V15, V17; RV02, RV04; G85, G43, G24; G99, G94; YG93, YG95, YG97; G85, G94; BG10.

I dies cut a rectangle from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with the Memory Box Stitched Rectangles.  I placed the focal image on the rectangle to determine placement for the sentiment, which is from Sugar Pea Designs Celebrate All Things, stamped with Hero Hues Black.  I really like the look of dimension on my cards and so I generously added 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to the back of the flower image and applied it to the white rectangle.

I took some purple cardstock from my stash to create a top foldling cardbase.  For added interest I ran the front of the card through the Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was added to the back of the panel and then adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

I always add details to the inside of my cards, but I don’t usually photograph them.  This time I liked the way the sentiment “celebrate” was carried over to the inside “you” from Simon Says Stamp You Matter stamp set and thought I would share.  I stamped the flower bouquet with Memento London Fog ink, and then stamped “you” with Altenew Deep Iris ink.  Next “Happy Birthday” was stamped with Hero Hues Black.

I liked the look of the card, but felt it was too much purple and so I cut down the front of the card to be 5 1/4″ x 4″ and glued it to a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Next I cut down the inside of the card to the same size and applied it with Tombo Stamp Runner adhesive to the inside of the card.  Making this change really let the focal image panel pop off the card and I liked it much better.

Noble Deer Masculine Birthday Card

My brother-in-law is an avid hunter and my sister is a saint since their home and cabin is decorated in hundreds of stuffed animals.  Although I like to take pictures of these noble creatures, Kirk enjoys the challenge of the hunt and has done it in Russia, Alaska, Africa, New Zealand, to name a few, and all across the United States.  The Stampin’ Up Noble Deer is the perfect stamp for a card for Kirk.

I began by using the Avery Elle Double Pierced Squares dies to create a square from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock.  I love this cardstock when using Copic markers because it does not bleed through.  Next I stamped the image with Memento Espresso Truffle ink, however, I stamped off once to lighten the ink.  I used the following Copic Markers to color image.

  • Deer: E33, E35, E37, E41
  • Grass: Y93, Y95
  • Trees: E49, G28, G85
  • Cloud: C1, C2
  • Sky: BG0000, BG 10

I created a top folding A2 cardbase from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock.  I cut some plaid cardstock I had in my stash with the rectangle from WPlus9 Gift Card Layers die and glued it directly to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Next I die cut some craft cardstock with the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles and placed the focal image on top to determine where to stamp the sentiment from My Favorite Things Big Birthday Sentiments with Memento Espresso Truffle ink.  To add some interest I took some twine I had in my stash and tied it just above the sentiment and then used a pick to spread the ends.

Next I used some 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to apply the focal image to the sentiment panel, and then I used some fun foam on the back of the craft panel, being sure to leave a channel for the thickness of the twine, and adhered it to the plaid cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Butterfly Magic Birthday Card

Sometimes  it is nice to make a card that only requires a background die to make it beautiful.  This card is made by cutting the Spellbinders Impressibilities Butterfly Magic Die out of Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and gluing it directly to some light turquoise cardstock I had in my stash.  00019-bw

The sentiment is from Avery Elle Cake and Candles and stamped with VersaMark Ink onto a strip of Gina K. Designs 120# Cardstock, covered with Ranger Fine Detail Silver Embossing Powder, and heat set with the Marvy Embossing Tool.  A strip of Silver Glitter Cardstock, just wider than sentiment, was added to the back with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  For dimension, 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the sentiment and adhered to the bottom of the card.  To compliment the sentiment, the body of the butterfly was cut with silver glitter cardstock and glued to the butterfly and the card was done.

Happy Birthday Chemistry Man

My son Patrick has a birthday this week.  His degree is in Chemistry and he manages an environmental lab in the Seattle area.  My Favorite Things Undeniable Chemistry was the perfect stamp and die set to create his birthday card.00272aw

I knew I wanted to create a shaker card with the beakers, but I wanted to have a colorful and chemistry related background.  I began by ink blending Distress inks on some Canson 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper, colors used are listed below.  After getting the blending the way I wanted, I lightly spritzed the cardstock with water to further blend the colors and let it dry.

Next I determined where I wanted my sentiment and then prepared the cardstock with by Embossing Buddy to remove any oils, this ensures the embossing powder only adheres to where you have stamped.  I stamped the sentiment and chemistry symbols all around the card with VersaMark ink.  I used Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Power and heat set it with the Marvy Embossing Tool.

First I sized the panel to 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ with the WPlus9 Gift Card Layers Rectangle.  I then die cut the beakers with the matching dies.  The first time I did this the tape tore the cardstock and I had to start all over again.  Once I had the openings for my shaker card, I glued some acetate to the back with Tombo Mono Multi Glue. Next, I used double thick 3M 1/2″ foam tape to create the wells and to support the card panel.  For the shaker wells I added Beader Paradise Anniversary and some multi-color beads I’ve had in my stash for years.  00272w

I was going to place the panel directly on a Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardbase, but decided it would be easier to add a backer sheet just smaller than the panel first.  I used Fossilized Amber Distress Ink to blend the center of the backer sheet to give a glow behind the openings.  I then glued the card front to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

I like the way the card tuned out, let’s hope Patrick likes it too.

PENNY BLACK BOUQUET SYMPATHY CARD

Recently the mother of a friend of ours passed away.  In her obituary it specifically noted that her favorite color was purple, so I wanted to create a sympathy card with purple flowers.  I pulled out the Penny Black Centerpiece stamp set, it’s one of my favorites, and stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on an outline I had cut previously with my Silhouette Cameo from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock.  I used Copic Markers to color the image, listed below are the colors used.

00271

From purple cardstock I had in my stash I cut a rectangle using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts Prayers and was cut from the same purple cardstock three times and adhered together using Elmer’s Glue Adhesive Spray.  I then die cut a smaller rectangle from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  The focal image and prayers cutout were placed on the white rectangle to determine where to stamp the secondary greetings, also from Hero Arts Prayers.  They were stamped with Altenew Deep Iris Ink.

The two rectangles were adhered together using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then adhered to the front of a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The focal image was adhered with 3M ½” Foam Tape and the sentiment cutout was adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  To add a little more interest the to the front of the card purple sequins were used from Pretty Pink Posh Enchanted Garden Mix and the card was done

STIPPLED BLOOMS WISHING YOU A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY

I like the Stampin’ Up Stippled Blooms, but I like it much better when it is stamped on watercolor paper and the stippled areas are smooth with a brush and some water.  I cut some outlines of the images with my Silhouette Cameo on 90# watercolor paper.  The 140# requires a really deep blade and multiple passes for the cut for a smooth outline, so using a lighter weight paper works better.  I stamped the images with Distress Ink: Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry; Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord; Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint.  Since these are rubber stamps I used my E. K. Success Stamp-a-ma-jig to line them up.

00269A rectangle was cut using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Frames from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The back rose, purple flowers, and leaves were attached to the panel using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  One rose was attached with one layer of 3M ½” Foam Tape, and the top rose was adhered with two layers of 3M ½” Foam Tape.

The sentiment is from Penny Black Special Thoughts and was stamped with Hero Hues Black Ink.  The stitched rectangle was applied directly to a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  To add a little more interest to the card sequins from Pretty Pink Posh Enchanted Garden and Sweetheart Mix were scattered on the front of the card.

SUMMER BLOOMS HAPPY BIRTHDAY

There are no matching dies for the WPlus9 Summer Blooms stamp set, so I cut some outlines with my Silhouette Cameo to create this card.  I merged the flowers, stems, and leaves into one image prior to cutting.  I used the Altenew inks listed below to stamp the images on the cutouts.

00270I used the Sizzix Big Shot to die cut a rectangle from Winnie & Walter Audrey Essentials Pierced Scalloped Rectangles from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and glued the largest and smallest flowers directly to the panel with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The two medium flowers in the center I adhered using 3M ½” Foam Tape.
The sentiment is from Gina K. Designs Birthday Greetings and was stamped on 120# Gina K. Designs Black Cardstock with VersaMark Ink.  Recollections Snow Embossing Powder was added and heat set with the Marvy Embossing Tool.  I used my paper cutter to trim the sentiment and then cut double fishtail ends.  The sentiment strip was adhered using 3M ½” Foam Tape to the scalloped rectangle.  Some Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was cut to be just smaller than the scalloped rectangle and, once applied, was adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

HELLO BIRTHDAY GIRL

This card uses flowers and leaves from Simon Says Stamp Look for the Miracles stamp set.  Since there aren’t matching dies for this set I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut some outline images and then stamped them with Altenew Inks listed below.  I used the Sizzix Big Shot to die cut a rectangle from Winnie & Walter Audrey Essentials Pierced Scalloped Rectangles from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock.  I arranged the leaves and flowers the way I liked them and then used Tombo Mono Multi Glue for the leaves and small flower, gluing them directly to the rectangle.  The lighter pink flowers were adhered using 3M ½” Foam Tape, and the blue flower has a double thickness foam tape for added dimension.

00268The Hero Arts Hello sentiment was cut once from Gold Mirror Cardstock and three more times with leftover white cardstock.  To glue them together I used some Elmer’s Spray Adhesive.  Before adhering it to the panel I laid it out to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment “birthday girl” from Stamping Bella Tiny Townie Blossom Loves Balloons.  Since I had gone to so much work, I but the panel in my MISTI and stamped it with Hero Hues Black ink.  I glued the “hello” die with some Ranger Multi Medium Mat and then glued the panel directly to a side folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.

I liked the card, but it needed a little something more, so I pulled out my new Nuvo Crystal Drops Pale Gold and added small dots to the center of the flowers and the card was done.
