CTD433: Penny Black Stitched Flowers Sending You Love

I love the flowers from the Penny Black 2017 Release and purchased a lot of them.  This card is made from the Stitched Flowers stamp set.

I began by stamping the image a couple of times with VersaMark Ink on Canson XL Cold Press 140# Watercolor Paper.  Gina K. Designs Fine Detail White Embossing Powder was applied and heat set with the Marvy Embossing Gun.

The sentiment is from Penny Black Happy Thoughts and was stamped between the two flower images with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with the same embossing powder.

I knew I wanted to watercolor these images and I have a lot of different watercolor mediums, but I don’t use my ZIG Clean Color Brushes very often so I pulled them out for this card.

The color scheme for the throwdown challenge this week was blue, green, and white.  The blue of the door in the image seemed more like a periwinkle blue and so I used both blue (030 Blue)and purple (080 Violet) to color the flowers, putting the blue at the base and the purple at the tip and then blending the two colors together.  For the leaves and vines I used 004 FL Green and 040 Green.

I love the sentiment because it could be used for a lot of different themes, thinking of you, birthday, encouragement, whatever the need may be. Since the sentiment was embossed in white I needed to add a background color that would allow it to show and I chose 031 Cobalt Blue, concentrating more color around the sentiment and blending it out to the edges.

Once the watercolor was dry I ran the focal image through the Sizzix Big Shot with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  To make the blue flowers pop I went to my scraps of paper and pulled out some blue cardstock to match the flowers and die cut it with the rectangle from WPlus9 Gift Card Layers.  This die cuts an A2 size rectangle that completely covers the front of a card.

A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and it was now time to assemble the card.  I glued the blue rectangle to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  I cut a rectangle of Darice Adhesive Fun Foam 1/8″ smaller than the focal image and applied it to the back.  To adhere it to the card front I added Tombo Mono Multi Glue to the back of the fun foam and added it to the card.  I thought about adding sequins or enamel dots to the card, but thought that there was enough details to the image that it would be better to not have anything else competing with the image and so the card was done.

C. C. Design Bouquet Birthday

When I saw this beautiful tulip bouquet from C.C. Design I knew it would make a lovely card.  I’m so glad that I purchased it, I’m sure I’ll use it again and again.

I cut an outline of the C. C. Designs Bouquet image from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with my Silhouette Cameo and then stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  The image was then colored with Copic Markers (colors used are listed below).

To create a visual background for the image an oval was cut using My Favorite Things Pierced Oval STAX and ink blended with Distress Stormy Sky Ink using the Inkylicious Ink Bending Brush to create a soft sky color to the oval.  Another oval was cut out of Darice Adhesive Fun Foam and trimmed to be slightly smaller than the ink blended oval and attached to the back. The bouquet cutout was then adhered to the oval using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A rectangle was cut from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and ink blended on the edges, softly fading to the center.  It was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The oval was then adhered to the card front using the same glue on the fun foam.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Inside & Out Birthday stamp set and was stamped with VersaMark Ink on a strip of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and heat embossed with Rangers Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the edges to ensure it was the same level as the bouquet and then the sentiment was adhered to the bottom of the focal image with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Clear Wink of Stella was added to the flowers for some sparkle and shine and the card was done.

Hero Arts Antique Rose Congrats

This stamp set from Hero Arts reminded me of some of the flowers my grandmother had in her garden.  I think the antique rose makes a beautiful card.

I began by stamping the image from Hero Arts Antique Rose onto 80# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  It was colored using Copic Markers RV11, RV13, RV15; YG95, YG97, YG99.  I then placed the image on my Silhouette PIXScan Mat and cut around it using the Cameo.

To create a visual background for the image an oval was cut using My Favorite Things Pierced Oval STAX and ink blended with Distress Tumbled Glass Ink using the Inkylicious Ink Bending Brush to create a soft sky color to the oval.  Another oval was cut out of Darice Adhesive Fun Foam and trimmed to be slightly smaller than the ink blended oval and attached to the back. The rose cutout was then adhered to the oval using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

To enhance the pink in the rose an A2 top folding cardbase was made from pink cardstock that I had in my stash.  A rectangle of white 80# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock was cut using the Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle and adhered to the pink cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Then the oval was attached using the same glue to the back of the fun foam.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Congrats and was cut from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and an additional three time from scraps of white cardstock.  All were adhered together using Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive and then the word was adhered to the bottom of the focal image with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  To add a little sparkle, Clear Wink of Stella was added to the flower and the card was done.

Technique Tuesday Cosmos Birthday

Technique Tuesday Cosmos is another stamp set that I have not used. When I searched for images of cosmos flowers there was an array of different colors, but the one I liked the most was white with deep pink/burgundy tips, so that it what I used for this card.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut an outline of the flower bouquet from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and then stamped the bouquet with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  The flowers were colored with Copic Markers, colors used are listed below.  The flowers I was using for inspiration had gold centers and so I used Stickles Tinsel and liked the sparkle it added.

To provide a frame for the flower focal point I used the Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Rectangles to cut a frame from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was cut in thirds to be narrow enough to add dimension to the frame and not be seen.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from some burgundy cardstock that I had in my stash.  A rectangle of Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock was cut using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle and adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.

The frame was placed on the rectangle to determine the placement for the sentiment.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Inside & Out Birthday and was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The frame was adhered to the card front and then 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the bouquet and then centered in the middle of the frame.

CTD433: C.C. Designs Cupcake Brigitta Time to Celebrate

Who wouldn’t like a mound of cupcakes for their birthday.  This card was made for a young woman whose favorites colors are blue and green.  I think the card turned out cute and I really like the flowered cardstock background.

The outline for the image from C.C. Designs Cupcake Brigitta was cut with the Silhouette Cameo from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock, then the image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored with Copic Markers.  Colors used are listed below.

The green and white flowered paper was pulled from my stash.  I’ve had it so long I have no idea the company that created it, but it is really cute with the color scheme we are using.  A rectangle of the paper was cut using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle.  To add some blue a rectangle of blue cardstock was cut with my paper cutter to be 1/8″ larger and the two were adhered together using Tombo Stamp Dot Runner Adhesive.

To create a focal area for the stamped image Spellbinders Label #08 was cut from some Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and then run through the Sizzix Big Shot again with the We R Memory Keepers Flower Embossing Folder.

The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps Party Mini Letter Seals and then cut using one of the circles from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  An added embellishment was created by making a small Lime Green Polka Dot Gross Grain Ribbon, which was adhered to the sentiment circle with Glue Dot.

It was now time to assemble the card.  A top folding A2 Cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The patterned paper, blue background rectangle was adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue. 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the focal image label and then adhered to the patterned paper.  The sentiment circle was adhered with more foam tape. Pretty Pink Posh Seattle Spirit Mix Sequins were scattered on the card front and the card was done.

Clearly Besotted Layered Chrysanthemums Happy Birthday

This is the second card made with the Clearly Besotted Layered Chrysanthemums.  I had stamped them for a previous card and had plenty of flowers and leaves left over so it was simply putting the card together.

A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Then using the same cardstock a frame was created using My Favorite Things Pierced Rectangle Frames.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was cut in half so that it would be narrow enough to be placed on the frame without being seen.

Before adhering the frame on the cardbase the flowers were arranged in the lower left corner to determine where the sentiment should be stamped. The arrangement was removed using Glad Press ‘n Seal so that they could easily be placed again once the sentiment was complete.

The sentiment, which is from Amy R Great Birthday Greetings, was stamped with Versa Mark Ink and then heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  After it had cooled the frame was placed on the cardbase.  Next it was time place the flower arrangement.  Because some of the flowers would both rest on the frame and also be within the frame 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was strategically placed on the back of the flowers and Tombo Mono Multi Glue was used where they would rest on the frame. The yellow flower in the bottom left had a double layer of foam tape.  I love the final look of the card.

Clearly Besotted Layered Chrysanthemums Birthday Wishes

Clearly Besotted Layered Chrysanthemum is another stamp set that I purchased and haven’t yet used and so it was time to put it to good use.  It turned into a lovely card that shouts spring is just around the corner.

Since I was using this multi layered stamp set for the first time I stamped a lot of flowers to get some good results, but it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be and I ended up with a lot of flowers, enough for two cards.

An A2 cardbase was made using Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock. For added dimension a rectangle of the same cardstock was cut using Simon Say Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle.  Some Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller and added to the back, then the rectangle was adhered to the cardbase using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The flowers were placed on the stitched rectangle to determine where the sentiment, which is from the same stamp set, should go.  The flower arrangement was removed with Glad Press ‘n Seal so it could be quickly adhered in place once the sentiment was stamped. VersaMark Ink was used to stamp the sentiment and then heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.

The flower arrangement was adhered to the front of the card with Tombo Mono Multi Glue to all except the top yellow flower, which was adhered using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  To add a little shine, Clear Wink of Stella was added to the flowers and the card was done.

Penny Black Scented Beauty Birthday

The Penny Black Scented Beauty stamp is absolutely beautiful and coloring it the traditional rose red makes a stunning card.

Letting this beautiful image shine calls for a clean and simple design.  A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Next a rectangle of the same cardstock was used to die cut a rectangle with Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  To give the card a sky allusion it was ink blended with Distress Tumbled Glass Ink. Another rectangle was cut from Darice Adhesive Fun Foam and trimmed to be 1/8″ smaller and adhered to the back.

The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and colored with the Copic Markers listed below.  Since there isn’t a matching die it was cut with the Silhouette Cameo on the PIXScan mat.  It was then adhered to the ink blended rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The sentiment is from Sizzix Birthday Cake stamp set, stamped with VersaMark Ink on a scrap of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and heat in embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back and it was adhered to the focal image rectangle.

The focal image rectangle was adhered to the cardbase using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Sequins from Doodlebug Ladybug and Pretty Pink Posh Sweetheart Mix were scattered on the card front and adhered with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the card was done.

Penny Black Sweetheart Mimi Birthday

This cute image with heart flowers was perfect for a young woman who had a February birthday.  As always, the image was colored with the favorite colors of the person it is intended for.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on 80# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock.  It was then colored with Copic Markers RV11, RV13, RV14; E01, E00, E000, E0000, R20; G24, G94; B39, B37, B34; B32, B34; E55, E53, E51.

Once the coloring was complete the image was cut with the Silhouette Cameo using the PIXScan Mat.  To enhance the blue in the image a rectangle of blue cardstock was cut using the Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle.  Another rectangle was cut with the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles out of BoBunny DoubleDot Light Blue Stripe cardstock.  The two blue rectangles were adhered together using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and a rectangle of Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was cut with the Lawn Fawn rectangle die and adhered to the back of the rectangles.

For the focal image a label was cut with Spellbinders Nested Medallion Labels out of Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  It was then run through the Sizzix Big Shot again with DoCrafts Small Polka Hearts Embossing Folder.  The focal image was applied to the label using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  To add dimension, the label was cut again with Darice Adhesive Fun Foam and trimmed to be 1/8″ smaller, it was then applied to the back of the white focal image label.

The focal image label was placed on the blue striped rectangle to determine placement for the sentiment from Gina K. Designs Birthday Greetings and stamped with Altenew’s Sapphire Ink.  The focal image was then applied to the rectangles using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A horizontal cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the rectangles and focal image was applied with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Doodlebug Blue Jeans Sequins and Martha Stewart Blueberry Slush Hearts were scattered and glued to the card front using Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the card was done.

Heartfelt Creations Sun Kissed Fleur Striped Thank You

I have had the Heartfelt Creations Sun Kissed Fleur Striped stamp set for years.  I’ve tried to use it but have had a hard time using the matching die. The stamp it a large rubber stamp with all the flowers stamped at one time.  The matching die is a solid multi flower cut and I just could not keep all the flowers aligned to get an even cut around the images.  The other day I thought about using my Silhouette PixScan to cut the images and it worked beautifully.

I stamped the images on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored them with Copic Markers, colors used are listed below.  Once the coloring was done I placed them on the PixScan Mat, took a photo of the image with my cell phone, and then cut them with the Silhouette Cameo.  Once the flowers were cut I used my bone folder to curve the petals.  I took a large flower and then a medium flower and adhered them together offset with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and set them aside.

Next I cut a rectangle of Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  Then I ink blended Distress Ink Tumbled Glass.  I stamped the sentiment from Gina K. Designs Happy Thoughts with Hero Hues India Ink Black in the upper right corner of the rectangle.  After these steps were complete it was run through the Sizzix Big Shot again with the Darice Basketweave Embossing Folder.  With my paper cutter a rectangle of Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller than the embossed rectangle and adhered to the back.

The flowers and leaves were arranged on the embossed rectangle and adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Then the rectangle was adhered to a horizontal A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue added to the back of the fun foam. I decided to use some Queen and Co. Rock Candy Yellow Rhinestones for the flower centers and the card was done.
