Blooming Bouquet Happy Birthday

The Altenew Blooming Bouquet stamp is a lovely, large image that makes a striking card.  This time I decided to stamp it twice in diagonal corners of the card and use Copic Markers to color the image.

The image was stamped on a quarter sheet of Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock in alternating corners with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  The Copic Markers used to color the image are listed below.

Once the image was colored the panel was die cut using a My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller than the rectangle and adhered to the back.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts Birthday Message and was stamped on a strip of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back and it was then adhered just under the half way part of the focal image.

The focal image was then adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from 120# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  Wink of Stella was added to the flowers and the card was done.

Remember This Make a Wish Birthday Card

I wanted to use the Altenew Spring Shower Cover Die, but I didn’t want to take the time to do paper piecing.  This time I decided to dry emboss the die as a background to Altenew’s Remember This, another beautiful layering flower stamp.  It’s hard to see in the picture, but it makes a lovely background to this card.

The largest My Favorite Things Rectangle STAX was used to cut Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock. Next the Altenew Spring Shower Cover Die was placed on the rectangle and run through the Big Shot a second time on the embossing tab using the Spellbinder tan embossing pad.  I wanted a deep impression and so a shim was used to create greater depth with the embossing.

I wanted to the embossed background to show as much as possible and so I decided to only use one flower and bud from the Remember This stamp set.  They were stamped with the Altenew Inks listed below.  I forgot that I had the matching dies, and so I fussy cut around the images.

The sentiment is from Mama Elephant’s Make a Wish and was stamped on The Paper Company Vellum with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Silver Embossing Powder.  The vellum was wrapped around the embossed rectangle and adhered to the back using Scotch Tape.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller than the embossed rectangle and adhered to the back.  The bud and leaves were adhered to the vellum and embossed rectangle and the flower was adhered using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image rectangle was adhered using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  Wink of Stella was added to the flowers and the card and a clean, simple, but beautiful card was done.

Spring Shower Cover Die Make a Wish Birthday Card

I had seen a video with Jennifer McGuire using this die and loved it.  I too love the results of this card, but it was very time consuming to color and then paper piece each of the flowers and leave back into the background.

First the largest My Favorite Things Rectangle STAX was used to cut Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock.  Next the Altenew Spring Shower Cover Die was placed on the rectangle and run through the Big Shot a second time.  Both are the same size, so Post-it Tape was used to hold it in place while die cutting.

Copic Markers were used to color all of the die cut flowers and leaves.  Colors used are listed below.  I had watched Nicole Spohr cover the back of a panel to be paper pieced with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  This eliminates the need to add adhesive to each item and also adds dimension when it is added to the cardbase.

After each piece was adhered back in place I pulled some clear Rhinestones from my stash of supplied and added them to the centers of the flowers.  I wanted the background to show as much as possible and so the sentiment from Hero Arts Birthday Messages was stamped on a then strip of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back and it was adhered to the bottom third of the card.

Garden Treasures Happy Birthday

This is the second card made with Altenew’s Garden Treasures stamp set.  This time a small focal image rectangle was used to allow for stamping the sentiment below the focal image.

The layered flowers were stamped with Altenew Inks (colors listed below) and then die cut with the matching dies, which makes card making so much easier.

A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  A rectangle was cut from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock using a My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle and adhered directly to the cardbase with Be Creative Tape.

The die cut flowers were arrange the way I liked them and then picked up with Glad Press ‘n Seal, making it easy to keep them as arranged to adhere to the focal image rectangle.  Before gluing the flowers in place the sentiment from Hero Arts Birthday Messages was stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black.

The leaves and smaller flowers were adhered to the focal image rectangle with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the yellow and blue flowers.  I wasn’t careful enough removing the press and seal and a little of the paper on yellow flower tore.  It was glued down with some Raner Multi Medium Matte.  To cover the small imperfection Studio Katia Majestic Confetti was place over the area and scatter around the flower and the card was done.

Garden Treasures Birthday Wishes

I recently purchased Altenew’s Garden Treasures.  I love the flowers in this stamp set and they make beautiful cards.

For this card the layered flowers were stamped with Altenew Inks (colors listed below) and then die cut with the matching dies, which makes card making so much easier.

A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  This is my favorite cardstock for cardbases.  A rectangle was cut from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock using a My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle and adhered directly to the cardbase with Be Creative Tape.  If I am not using foam behind a focal image I use the Be Creative Tape because it will not show as sometimes you can see the lines of liquid glue with a thinner cardstock.

The die cut flowers were arrange the way I liked them and then picked up with Glad Press ‘n Seal, which makes keeping them as arranged so easy to adhere to the focal image rectangle.  Before gluing the flowers in place the sentiment from Ranger’s Letter It Birthday and Winnie & Walter the Big, The Bold and Party were stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black.

The leaves and smaller flowers were adhered to the focal image rectangle with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the pink and blue flowers and the card was done.

Blooming Bouquet Birthday

I like the drapping leaves that are part of this bouquet.  They are a delicate addition to the design.  This image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with a HP Laser Printer and then outline die cut using the Silhouette PIXScan Mat and Cameo Machine.

I like the way dimension can be added to an outline image and brings visual interest to a card.

The card was colored using Copic Markers: G46, G82; YG99; YG57, YG17, YG03; BG13, BG34, BG32; B25, B24, B23; V25; RV06, RV04, RV02; RV14, RV13, RV11; Y17, Y08, Y02; YR24.  Once the color was complete the focal image was placed on a sheet of Darice Sticky Back Foam and traced with a pencil, fussy cut with scissors, and adhered to the back of the image.  I have begun adding foam dimension in this manner and like the solid surface that it gives.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  A quarter sheet of Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock was run through the Big Shot with the Winnie & Walter Audrey Essentials Scalloped Rectangle.  Darice Sticky Fun Foam was added to the back for dimension.

The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink on the Paper Company Fellum and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The focal image was adhered to the scalloped rectangle using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the sentiment was wrapped around the rectangle and adhered to the back using Scotch Tape.  The focal image scalloped rectangle was then adhered to the top of the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Blooming Bouquet Bring on the Happy

really like the image from Altenew’s Blooming Bouquet and decided to watercolor it on Canson XL Cold Press 140# Watercolor Paper.  It was stamped with VersaMark Onyx Black In, and heat embossed with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder using the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.

Winsor & Newton Artist Grade Watercolor Winsor Yellow, Aureolin, Permanent Rose, Chinese White, Winsor Violet, Olive Green, Permanent Sap Green, Viridian, Cerulean Blue, Turquoise Light were used to color the image.  Once it was completely dry Derwent Inktense Pencils 210 Cadmium Yellow, 510 Cherry, 520 Carmine Pink, 760 Deep Violet, 1330 Vivid Green, 1560 Fern using a Dove Blending Pen.

The watercolored panel was then die cut using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  A slightly larger rectangle was cut with a guillotine paper cutter out of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and adhered to the back of the watercolored panel with Sookwang Be Creative Tape.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image panel was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  As a final embellishment Pretty Pink Posh Sugar Plum Mix Sequins were adhered with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

Altenew Adore You Birthday Wishes

A woman I serve with in the young women’s organization at church has a birthday the first week of September.  Her favorite colors are blue and gray.  I had recently purchased Altenew’s Adore You stamp and dies and decided to use them for her birthday card.  I love the way that it turned out.

I stamped the flowers and leaves on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored them with Copic Markers B93, B95, B97, B99; G94, YG03.  I then ran them through the Big Shot with the matching dies.  I die cut a rectangle of the same white cardstock with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle and arranged the flowers the way I wanted them to determine where to stamp the sentiment from Penny Black Sprinkles & Smiles.  It was stamped with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed with Ranger Detail Silver Embossing Powder, which pulled in a little sparkling gray.

Some of the flowers were adhered directly to the white rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and others were adhered using 3M ½” Foam Tape and some foam squares I have in my stash that has a slightly higher profile.  Silver Stickles were added to the stamen and then Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Silver Sequins were scattered around the flowers.

To accent the blue color of the flowers I decided to make the cardbase from Gina K. Designs 120# Navy Cardstock.  The white rectangle focal image was adhered directly to the front of the cardbase with Sookwang Be Creative Tape.  Clear Wink of Stella was added to the flowers and the card was done.

Vintage Flowers Birthday Wishes

This is another card that I made with a flower set I had purchase long ago and not yet used.  I found the layering to be easy and the results from stamping all the images in multi colors made a bright and happy card.

I used mainly Altenew inks to stamp the images, with the exception of Gina K. Designs Wild Dandelion.  Once the images were stamped I die cut them with the matching dies.  To arrange the flowers I decided to use the Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders die.  I love the scalloped edge.  I created a landscape A2 cardbase from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and used the border die to cut the bottom of the front panel.  Next I laid out the flowers to determine placement and then took a picture with my cell phone as a reminder of the layout I liked.  Doing this allowed me to determine where to stamp the sentiment from Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold, and Party in Hero Hues India Ink Black at the top of the card front.  I don’t use this beautiful “birthday” stamp often because it requires a landscape card to accommodate the size.  But it is a stunning sentiment and worked perfectly for this card.

The flowers and leaves were then adhered using a combination of Tombo Mono Multi Glue and 3M ½” Foam Tape.  I have seen a lot of people using black and white striped cardstock or washi tape to accent their cards and so I decided to use Life Style Crafts Shape ‘n Tape Black striped washi, adhering it to the bottom of the inside of the cardbase and loved the way it looked.

Vintage Flowers: Heart Doily Happy Birthday Card

I purchased the La-La Crafts Border Heart Doily Die quite some time ago and had not yet used it.  I decided it would make a pretty accent to the top of a card.  It is not the same width as an A2 top folding card and so I decided to die cut a rectangle using Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles, but I didn’t like the way the doily looked when placed on top of the rectangle and so I cut down the rectangle so that the doily could be adhered to the top and still be the same height and liked it much better.

When I went to assemble the card I still felt it was missing something.  It was too plain and the pretty details of the doily weren’t standing out, so I cut a small rectangle of purple cardstock from my stash and adhered it to the top of an A2 top folding cardbase, made from 120# Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  I added Darice Adhesive Fun Foam behind the solid rectangle of the focal image and adhered it to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Happy. The word “happy” was cut from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and the secondary sentiment was stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black in the center of the focal image panel, but I still didn’t like the way the card looked.  So, I cut a thin strip of Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and adhered it over the seam, where the rectangle and doily met.  This was better, but it still needed something.  I had three purple flowers left over from making a card with Altenew Vintage Flowers and decided to add them to the top of the card, just under the center of the doily and finally liked the way the card had turned out.  To accent the strip of gold I used Stickles Tidings to the flower centers, added some sparkle and shine to the petals with Clear Wink of Stella and the card was done.
