You’re In My Prayers

We all need sympathy cards at times and I like those that are simple and elegant.

The flowers in Altenew’s Beautiful Day Stamp are beautiful.  I stamped the image with VersaMark Ink on Strathmore 140# Cold Press Watercolor paper and embossed it with Ranger’s Platinum Embossing Powder.  Be sure to prep the surface with an embossing buddy tool to ensure the powder only clings to the VersaMark ink.  To color the image I used Winsor & Newton Winsor Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Olive Green, keeping the colors light by diluting them with a lot of water.

Once the watercolor was completely dry I ran it through my Big Shot with the largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  I cut a piece of Paper Accents Mirror Gold Paper slightly larger, which added a lovely accent to the edges of the focal piece and adhered them together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

I then stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts Prayers with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Ranger Platinum Embossing Powder.

All was adhered it to a cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape and the card was done.

Happy Father’s Day Sweetheart

I have the most incredible husband. Patient, kind, trustworthy, hardworking, with a sense of humor to add a little spice. My children and I are blessed every day by this amazing man. I hope he has a Father’s Day worthy of the husband and father that he is.

This card was simple in design and was inspired by a card found on the Winnie & Walter web site using the word love from the Winnie & Walter the Big the Bold & the Happy stamp set. (https://www.winniewalter.com/products/the-big-the-bold-and-the-happy).

Using Simon Says Stamp Bundled of Stitched Shapes I cut a rectangle from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Since my husband’s favorite color is blue I stamped the “happy” from Winnie & Walter the Big the Bold & the Happy multiple times in different colors of blue using Altnew Inks: Artic, Caribbean Sky, Prussian Blue, and Sapphire.  I then stamped “father’s day” from the same stamp set in Hero Hues Black ink.  I die cut silver glitter hearts with Simon Says Stamp Holiday Shapes Large and Small and scattered around the words using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

The cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs Navy 120# cardstock, cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″.  The panel was adhered to the front of the card with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to add dimension.

A second panel of white cardstock was die cut and stamped onceith the words “You are amazing” from Winnie & Walter The Big the Bold and You stamp set.  This panel was adhered to the inside of the card with my Scotch ATG glue gun and the card was done.

A Warm Welcome

A couple of weeks ago we had three families move into our congregation at church. Our congregations are organized into wards, which are a geographic area that determines who attends at what times.  This ensures that the congregations don’t get so big people won’t be able to know one another and get lost in the crowd. But even with smaller congregations it’s hard to move and not know anyone.  I decided that since I love making cards I would start making welcome cards for the new families. Here are the three cards that I made. I must have been in a pink mood, because all of them have pink flowers.

CARD #1 was made with Altenew’s Peony Bouquet and stamped with Altenew Ink.  This image has multiple layers. I tried stamping the outline area first, but after some trial and error I found I got a better image when I started with the solid base.  For the flowers, layer 1 was stamped with Blush, layer 2 with Rouge, layer 3 with Crimson, and the outline with Hero Hues Black. The leaves were stamped with Frayed Leaf for layer 1 and Forest Glades for layer 2.

I die cut a panel of Gina K. Design 120# white cardstock  using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles and adhered one of the full blooms, the bud, and leaves with Elmer’s Dot Runner adhesive.  The final bloom was adhered with 3M 1/2″ foam tape to give added dimension.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Little One and was stamped with my MISTI in Hero Hues Black. This allowed me to stamp a few times to get a crisp black.  I adhered the panel to a 120# Gina K. Design white card base with 3M 1/2″ foam tape, scattered a few sequins from Pretty Pink Posh Sweetheart collection, added a bloom to the inside left corner and the card was done.

Welcome1

CARD #2 was made with Penny Black’s Centerpiece and stamped in VersaMark ink on 140# Cold Press Strathmore Watercolor Paper.  Before stamping I prepped the area with my embossing buddy so the embossing powder would only cling to the stamped image.  I used Ranger’s Platinum Embossing Powder, which gives an elegant feel to the card.  I watercolored the image by wetting down individual flowers and dropping the color into the area, letting the color move on its own and concentrating the darker color where there would be shadows.  I used the following Distress Inks: Spun Sugar, Tattered Rose, Picked Raspberry, Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves, Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint, Fossilized Amber, Antique Linen, and Tumbled Glass.

I die cut the watercolor image using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Little One and was stamped with VersaMark and embossed with Ranger Platinum embossing powder. I adhered the panel to a 120# Gina K. Design white card base with 3M 1/2″ foam tape.  You can see a hint of the inside of the card.  I always stamp the image in a light ink or add a small die cut image similar to what is on the front of the card.   Sometimes I add another sentiment, but not always.  I do something similar for the envelopes.  Once the inside was stamped the card was done.

CARD #3 was made with Penny Black’s Blooming Garden. I watercolored the image by wetting down individual flower petals and dropping the color into the water, letting it move on its own.  I used Winsor and Newton Permanent Rose and Sap Green.  The background was a blend of Cerulean Blue and Turquoise Light, watered down so that it was a very light wash.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Beautiful Baby, stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger’s Platinum Embossing Powder.

I die cut the image using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles and adhered the panel to a 120# Gina K. Design white card base with 3M 1/2″ foam tape, stamped the image on the inside of the card with Altenew Rouge ink and the card was done.

Thanks a Bunch

I am always in need of thank you cards.  Last weekend we were in Salt Lake City for a family wedding and my beautiful sister Julie generously gave us a place to stay.  Staying with loved ones is always better than a hotel.  For one you get really good home cooked food and terrific company.

I love the flower stamps from Altenew.  This time I used their Hennah Elements, but I did a little something different by stamping on colored cardstock with a darker die ink and then adding some highlights with Copic markers.  This ensured that the die cut images have color, even the border.

00137a

The colored cardstock I have had for ages, so I can’t give you colors or brands, the inks used for stamping were Color Box Cyan, Violet, and Amber.  The Copic markers used were: B04, V99, and YR23.

The card base is Gina K. Designs 120# white card stock, cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored it at 4 1/4″ for a landscape top folding card.  I stamped two images of the middle flower and fussy cut the center of the flower from one of them.  I adhered the middle flower to the card base with 3M 1/2” foam tape and then attached the fussy cut center of the flower using another layer of foam tape for added dimension.  I tucked the other two flowers and leaves underneath, adhering them with Elmer’s Craft Bond Dot Runner.  To add some additional dimension and pop to the center of the flowers I added The Paper Studio Gold Glitter Stripe Gemstones.

I stamped Altenew’s Label Love for the sentiment on white cardstock with Hero Hues Black ink and cut a fish tail end to one side.  I need to practice on how to do this better so the words are crisper.  In the end I used a white gel pen and traced over the letters for a clearer sentiment.  Not sure if this was any better since the letters weren’t perfectly formed, but you could read them better.  I attached it to the bottom of the card using 3M 1/2″ foam tape, and the card was done.
