Stitched Leaves Congratulations

This is the third card I made using the Gina K. Designs Stitched Leaves stamp set.  My Aunt Betty and Uncle Delos are celebrating their 70th Wedding Anniversary this week.  I felt like these beautiful leaves would be a reminder of the time of year they began their lives together.

As with the other cards, Canson XL 140# Watercolor Paper was covered with Distress Ink Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, and Peeled Paint. Each color was randomly applied onto the watercolor paper by directing smooching the ink pads all over the paper. The paper was saturated with a spray bottle of water so that the colors would blend together.

When everything was completely dry an anti static pad was used to liberally coated the surface of the watercolored paper to ensure the embossing powder would only stick to the stamped images. The leaf images were stamped with VersaMark Ink, heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder, heat set with the Marvy Embossing Tool, and die cut with the matching dies.

To assemble this card I combined the design of the other two cards I made with these leaves.  An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock.  A rectangle was cut from Gina K. Designs 80# Ivory Cardstock using a My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle and dry embossed with the Darice Wood Grain Embossing Folder and the Sizzix Big Shot.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller and adhered to the back of the rectangle.  The arrangement of leaves were adhered to the front using both Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

The sentiment is from the Sizzix Celebrate Die set and was cut from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and an additional four time from Gina K. Designs 80# Ivory Cardstock.  Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive was used to adhere all of them together.  The sentiment was adhered to the front of the focal image rectangle with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  The panel was adhered to the front of the cardbase with the same glue and the card was done.

Love You Forever Farm Boy

Yesterday my farm boy and I celebrated 43 years of marriage. Life has been sweet. It hasn’t been without its challenges, but together we have weathered every storm, and most days we have basked in the sunshine of our love for each other. I would marry him again in a heartbeat and I am grateful to have eternity to look forward to with him by my side. Thank you honey for filling my life with joy.

Michael grew up on a farm and was determined not to be a farm boy when he grew up.  But the lessons learned on a farm teach you how to have faith in what is ahead and how to work hard.  And no matter what you do in life, you can’t take that farm boy away from who you are. So, when I saw the Little Darlings Valentine Moments stamp with the little boy in overalls sitting on a fence it reminded me of the farm boy I married all those years ago and I knew it would be perfect for an anniversary card.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Gina K. Designs 80# white card stock and colored it with Copic markers.

My card base was some blue paper from my stash, cut 4 1/4″ x 11 and scored at 5 1/2″ for a top folding card.  I cut some Gina K. Design 80# White Cardstock with the Largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangles, but ran it through again to cut off a little on two sides so it would be slightly smaller than the card base.  I die cut the image with the Sizzix Rounded Tag, but it was a little too tall and so I ran it through again until it was the height desired and glued it to a piece of matching blue card stock.  I then fussy cut a matching blue border.  To add dimension I applied 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to the back and attached it to the white panel, towards the top so it left enough room for the sentiment.  I die cut the word “Love” from Hero Arts stamp and cut Love set and added foam adhesive to the bottom of the word so the top of the word would lie flat on the image panel and the bottom of the word would be supported.  I nestled the words you and forever from Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold and You stamp set with Memento Paris Dusk ink, scattered a few sequins from Doodlebug Blue Jeans and Pretty Pink Posh Seattle Spirit Mix, and the card was done.
