Welcome Baby Ember

My niece had a little girl on Friday, May 1 that they named Ember. When I heard her name I imaged all the light, warmth, and love she would bring into her family of an older sister and brother. What a blessing a new baby is.

I wanted to create a welcome card for little Ember and her family. I have a few baby stamps, but I wanted something new and so I went searching online and found some really cute images from Lili of the Valley. This one is called cloud. I fell in love with it because my youngest was a stuffies collector and I loved all the little animals surrounding this sweet baby.

I printed it with my laser printer onto Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock. This ensures the lines will not bleed when coloring with alcohol markers. The image had a bald baby with just a few tuffs of hair, but Ember has a lot of dark hair and so I added them to the coloring. The background colored with Copic’s was a little streaky so I used some Tumbled Glass ink to smooth it out, ink blending from the edges and staying away from the focal image.

Once the coloring was complete I cut it down with a stitched rectangle and sticky back foam for dimension. It just didn’t look feminine enough and so I decided to mat it with a white scalloped rectangle and glued the two together with liquid glue.

I found this soft pink cardstock in my stash and adhered the focal image to a top folding cardbase with liquid glue. The sentiment was stamped in the lower right corner with London Fog, since I wanted it to be softer than stark black.

As a last embellishment I added Ranger Crystal Stickles to the clouds and the card was done.

Welcome to the World Sweet Baby

My nephew and his wife had a beautiful baby boy last week. This is the card I made to welcome little Theo to the world.

I searched my baby stamps and couldn’t find what I wanted so I went to the Silhouette Store and found this cute cut file from Stinkin Cute Paper Piecing called Baby Boy Planning Stickers. I sized them for what I wanted, printed them with registration marks, and then cut them with the software.

To add some dimension to the images I used some Copic Markers to add shading.

I pulled out a paper pad from DCWV called Nana’s Nursery Baby Boy and found this cute yellow plaid paper for a background and cut a rectangle using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle. I searched my stash of paper and found a blue cardstock that matched the blue in the images and created a side folding A2 cardbase and adhered the plaid rectangle to the front with dotliner adhesive.

I arranged the images I decided to use on the card to determine where to stamp the large “welcome” from Hero Arts Little One using Gina K. Designs Blue Denim Ink. Next I stamped the secondary sentiment on a scrap of yellow cardstock with the same ink and cut it into a thin strip with a Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Label.

The ABC Blocks and baby bottle where adhered directly to the plaid paper with liquid glue. Ranger Glossy Accents were added to the bottle to make it look more like glass. The pacifier was adhered to the hands of the bear with liquid glue and the bear was then adhered to the patterned paper with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape. A thin strip of foam was added behind the secondary sentiment and it was adhered over the stamped “welcome” and the card was done.

Twin Congratulations – Welcome Tyson and Savannah

My niece recently had twins at 32 weeks.  They are tiny and still in the NICU, but they are doing well and growing.  We are so happy for them.  I wanted to create a card that would be perfect for her new little girl and boy so I went looking in the Silhouette Store and found this cute little bear image.  I mirrored the image so that they would be facing one another, fused them together to create a card and colored them blue and pink.  It turned out cute.

I cut the all the pieces required for images from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock.  You could cut them from different colored cardstock, but they look pretty flat when assembled that way.  I decided to color all the pieces with Copic Markers (listed below).  I added little eyelashes and a hair bow on the girl teddy bear and a bow tie on the bow.

The little bears are hinged at the top and originally I thought that I would only have the cutout be the card, but it was too small, so I decided to add a scalloped rectangle cut from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with on of the Winnie & Walter Audrey Essentials rectangles.  The bears were adhered with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  The sentiment was die cut four times from the same cardstock using the Sizzix Celebration Die Set and the top layer was colored in an ombre look using the same Copic Markers.  I liked this better, but in the end I decided to create cardbase from some colorful cardstock I had in my stash.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back of the scalloped rectangle and adhered to the cardbase with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.

Hello Sweet Baby Card

We have friends who recently had their ninth child.  I am amazed at the wonderful parents they are and their little girl Brinley is lucky to have been born into such an loving family.  I found the cutest little dress in a pale green and thought I would use that color to create this card, along with baby girl pink.

I began by stamping the cute baby image from Whimsy Stamps Wee One on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  It was then colored with Copic Markers: E50, E51, E53, R20 (Skin); RV10, RV11, RV13, RV14, G20, G21, G24 (Buggy); C5, C4, C3 (Wheels); Y02, Y06, Y08 (Bird); YR21, YR23, YR24 (Horse); C1, C2 (Ground); BG000, BG0000 (Background)

Once the coloring was complete the focal image was die cut with a Spellbinders Square Die.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was then cut just smaller than the square and adhered to the back.  A rectangle was cut from the Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.

For the sentiment the word “baby” was cut four times from green cardstock using the Simon Says Stamp Baby stamp and die set and then adhered together with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  The focal image was placed on the rectangle, along with the die cut word, to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment, which is from the same Simon Says Stamp set.  Hero Arts Bubble Gum ink was used to stamp “hello sweet” and then the “baby” die cut was adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  The focal image was adhered to the white rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Green organza 5/16” ribbon from Berwick Offray was tied around the white rectangle and adhered in the back with scotch tape just below the focal image and then a small bow was tied and adhered with a glue dot.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, however I felt like it needed an accent to highlight the pink in the baby carriage so I pulled out a scrap of pink cardstock and cut it with a paper trimmer to be 1/8″ larger than the white rectangle.  Both rectangles were adhered together using Tombo Glue Runner Dot Adhesive and then adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.
