HAPPY BIRTHDAY CUPCAKE

This cute image is from the C. C. Designs Cupcake Emma Stamp.  I stamped it on 140# Canson Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Ink and covered it in Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The image was colored with Winsor & Newton Lightweight Sketchers’ Box Half Pan Set of 24.  I mix colors to get just the right shade.

00246wThe sentiment is from Avery Elle Cake & Candles stamp set, it too was embossed with the same embossing powder.  I used Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Rectangles to cut a frame from matching paper that I had in my stash.

The watercolored focal image was cut with Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles and the frame was adhered using 3M ½” Foam Tape, cut to be narrow enough to not be seen.  I cut a piece of Darice Adhesive White Fun Foam to be slightly smaller than the focal image to add dimension.  Then it was adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue to a Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, cut to 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½” for a standard A2 cardbase, and the card was done.

CELEBRATE YOU BIRTHDAY CARD

Penny Black’s Make a Wish Stamp has so many cute little girls for birthday cards.  I really enjoy make cards with them.  I stamped on of the images on Canson 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossing the image with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder, preparing the paper with an embossing buddy to remove any oils from the cardstock, which ensures the embossing powder only sticks to where the image has been stamped.  The image was then colored with Winsor & Newton Lightweight Sketchers’ Box Half Pan Set of 24.

Once the image was dry I die cut it with Spellbinders Square die.  A piece of Gina K. Designs Red Cardstock was cut to be 1/8” larger and then the focal image was adhered using 3M ½” Foam Tape.  The focal image was adhered to a card base is 120# Gina K. Design White Cardstock, cut to 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½” with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The celebrate word die is from Penny Black Doodles die set.  It was cut from the same red cardstock and adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The word you is from the Winnie and Walter The Big, the Bold, and You stamp set, stamped with VersaMark and embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY – PENNY BLACK MAKE A WISH

I began this card by stamping one of the images from Penny Black Make a Wish on Canson 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossing the image with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  Remember, when working with embossing powder be sure and prepare your paper prior to stamping with an embossing buddy to remove any oils from the cardstock.  This will ensure the embossing powder only sticks to where the image has been stamped.

I colored the image using Winsor & Newton Lightweight Sketchers’ Box Half Pan Set of 24.  When I am watercoloring I mix my paints so that I have unique colors and get just the look I desire.  Once the watercolored image was dry I cut it into a circle using Spellbinders Circle Die.  To accent the color of the dress and frosting I die cut Spellbinders Small Scallop Circle Die and adhered it to the back of the focal image watercolored piece.

My card base is 120# Gina K. Design White Cardstock, cut to 4 ¼” x 11”, scored at 5 ½”.  I die cut some orange and white chevron paper from Recollections Bright & Basic 6 x 6 Paper Pack with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Stitched Basic Shapes and adhered it with Tombo Mono Multi Glue to the cardbase.  The focal image was adhered to the top of the card front with 3M ½” Foam Tape to add dimension.  The sentiment is from the Penny Black Celebrations Die, cut in both Gold Glitter Cardstock and Green Cardstock.  They were adhered together a little offset so you could see both colors.

Watercolor Make a Wish

I wanted to create some birthday cards that could be used for the young women in my church.  I color the hair so it matches theirs, and the clothes are colored in their favorite color.  It gives a personal touch and lets them know they are special.

I began this card by stamping Penny Black Make a Wish on Canson 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossing the image with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  Whenever you are working with embossing powder be sure and prepare your paper prior to stamping with an embossing anti-static tool to remove any oils from the cardstock.  This will ensure the embossing powder only sticks to where the image has been stamped.

I colored the image using Winsor & Newton Watercolor Lightweight Sketchers’ Box Half Pan Set of 24.  Sometimes when I am watercoloring I mix my paints so that I have unique colors and get just the look I desire.  I encourage you to give this a try, it’s a fun creative process.  The sentiment is from the Lawn Fawn Party Animals stamp set.

Once the image was dry I used the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles to cut down the watercolor cardstock.  I then cut a 1/8” larger rectangle from Gold Glitter Cardstock and adhered the watercolor panel using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Because glitter cardstock has a rough texture using good liquid glue ensures that it will stay together.  I die cut a piece of Darice Adhesive Foam and applied it to the back of the glitter cardstock.  The background paper is from DCWV Glitter Basics 6 x 6 Stack of paper, which was adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue to a 120# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock cardbase cut to 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”.

Happy Birthday Patterned Paper

Sometimes a beautiful patterned paper can make a lovely card.  The card below is made from some paper from the DCWV Happy Day Stack Paper, which was cut to 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ and adhered to a side folding card base, made with Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored 4 1/4″ with the ScorBuddy and the Simon Says Stamp Small Teflon Bone Folder.

The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Big Scripty Greetings Stamp, stamped on some Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock. The paper was prepped with the Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Pad to remove any oils before stamping with VersaMark Ink, sprinkled with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder, and heat setting with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.

The sentiment was cut with QuicKutz Nesting Frame #3 Die.  I love this die set because it has two dies that go together to make both a top and bottom layer.  The sentiment and border were cut with the second set of dies, top layer of Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and bottom layer with Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock.  They were glued together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then adhered to the card front with a Creative Hands Peel & Stick Foam Sheet, cut with the die and trimmed to be just smaller so it won’t show.  A small cluster of flowers and leaves were fussy cut from leftover cardstock and adhered to the upper right corner of the sentiment frame. It was pretty, but I finally cut just some roses from some of the paper, adhered them with 3M 1/2 Foam Tape. The added dimension was just what was needed and the card was done.

Beautiful Bouquet Birthday Mums

This card also used some of the beautiful paper I have in my stash. Today I picked a pink with gold foil polka dots from DCWV Happy Day Stack Paper. You can probably tell by the cards I create that I love the look of flowers. This time I used WPlus9 Beautiful Bouquet Mums Stamp.

I stamped the image on Strathmore 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Ink, treating it with an Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Pad to remove any oils from the paper. I sprinkled Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat set it with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.

The side fold cardbase was make from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored with the ScorBuddy and the Simon Says Stamp Small Teflon Bone Folder to 4 1/4″. A panel of the patterned paper was cut with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes and adhered to the card with Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.

I watercolored the image with Distress Ink.  Because of the color of the paper the ink used were: Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar, Victorian Velvet, Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters. Once the image was dry I cut it with the largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles Die. A panel of Paper Accents Gold Mirror cardstock was added behind the focal image to make it pop and all was adhered with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

Organic Blooms Birthday

I love the big, loose blooms in the Mama Elephant Organic Blooms Stamp and decided to use it for this card. I am really loving watercoloring images with embossed edges.  They keep the color contained and it is easy to get beautiful results.

I used a quarter of a full sheet Strathmore 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper from a 9″ x 12″ pack, prepped the paper with the Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Pad to remove any oils, sprinkled Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder, heat set it with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool, and I was ready to watercolor.

I used Distress Ink to color the image.  There are so many different colors to choose from, and when you blend them together you get even more variations.  For this image I used: Picked Raspberry, Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar, and Crushed Olive, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint.

While the image was drying, I die cut Hero Arts Happy from Paper Accents Gold Mirror paper, cut it three times again using Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, adhered all of them together with a Zig 2-Way Glue Pen. I cut the focal image with the rectangle from the Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Die.  For the top folding cardbase I used Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″ using the ScorBuddy and the Simon Says Stamp Small Teflon Bone Folder.

The focal image was adhered to the cardbase with some Creative Hands Peel & Stick Foam cut just smaller than the panel.  The “happy” die cut was adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The “birthday” sentiment is from the same Hero Arts stamp set, stamped with VersaMark Ink and sprinkled with the same gold embossing powder and heat set with an embossing tool.

Celebrate You Birthday

Whenever I go into a craft store I always look at the new paper they have and frequently I can’t resist buying it, especially if it’s on sale.  The problem is that I now have a lot of packs of paper in my stash that I rarely use, and they take up a lot of space in my craft room. So I challenged myself to use some of this beautiful paper. Today I picked the gold foil polka dot paper from the Craft Smith Blush Glam Paper Pack.  For the focal image of the card I used the WPlus9 Ranunculus Stamp.00192

I wanted to watercolor the image, so I used Strathmore 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper, prepared the paper with an Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Pad, stamped it with VersaMark Ink, sprinkled Ranger Fine Detail Embossing Powder, and heat set it with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.

I used Distress Ink to watercolor the image with a Sakura Koi Waterbrush Pen.  Colors used were: Barn Door, Abandoned Coral, Worn Lipstick, Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters, Crushed Olive, Mowed Lawn, Wild Honey, Fossilized Amber.

The sentiment is from SugarPea Designs Celebrate All Things Stamp.  I used the Embossing Magic pad to remove any oils from the card and stamped “Celebrate” with VersaMark Ink, covered it with the same gold embossing powder and heat set it with my heat tool.  The second line of the sentiment is from Winnie & Walter The Big the Bold and You Stamp.  I have all The Big and The Bold series, there are so many words that can be used to personalize any sentiment.  I use them all the time.

The watercolor image was then cut with the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles die and adhered to the card with a Creative Hands Peel & Stick Foam Sheet.  But the focal image just wasn’t standing out on the card, so I cut thin strips of Paper Accents Gold Mirror paper and beveled the edges to create a gold border, tucked the strips under the panel and glued them down with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  There is only a small amount of the pretty background paper showing, but I like the card much better.

Happy Birthday Marigolds

I watch other crafter’s videos and purchase a lot of stamps because I like what I see, the challenge is to use what we purchase. I love the big bold flowers that are in Papertrey Inks Year of Flower series. This time I pulled out the Marigolds.00195

I prepped some Strathmore 140# Cold Press Watercolor paper with an Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Pouch to remove any oils from the paper and stamped the flowers and leaves in VersaMark Ink, applied Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat set it with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.  Distress Inks were used to watercolor images with a Sakura Koi Waterbrush Pen.  The colors used were Wild Honey, Crushed Olive, and Mowed Lawn. I love how vibrant the Wild Honey is on the flowers. Once they were dry I die cut them with the matching dies using the Sizzix Big Shot.

I created a top folding cardbase with Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock, cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored using the ScorBuddy and Simon Says Stamp Small Teflon Bone Folder at 5 1/2″. From the same cardstock I cut a panel with the second largest dies from Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles. After figuring out placement of the flowers and leaves I used the Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Pouch to remove any oils from the panel and stamped Simon Says Stamp Big Scripty Greetings with Versa Mark Ink, covered it in Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder, and heat set it with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.

I applied the smaller flower and leaves with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then used 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to attached the larger Flower, tucking the leaves underneath and gluing them down.  The panel was then applied to the cardbase with foam tape and the card was done.

Masculine Birthday: Happy Birthday Hexagon

For this card I used some patterned paper from the Craft Smith Indigo Gold paper pack.  I selected the grey and cream hexagon design and die cut it with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  I used Gina K. Designs 100# Navy Cardstock for the cardbase, cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″.  The patterned paper was adhered with Creative Hands Peel & Stick Foam Sheets for dimension.

00186For the sentiment I used Wplus9 Happy Trio to die cut one of the “happy” words from Paper Accents Mirror Gold Cardstock.  I then die cut it three more times in grey cardstock and glued them together with a Zig 2-Way Glue Pen and applied it to the lower right of the card.  I then stamped the word “birthday” from Winnie and Walter Big Bold & Party stamp with VersaMark ink at the bottom of the panel, prepping the area with an Inkadinkado Embossing Magic pad, apply Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat setting it with the Marvy Embossing Tool.

To add some interest and dimension I fussy cut six of the hexagons from leftover patterned paper.  To add even more interest I used my Versamark Marker to add a dot to the center of each and added gold embossing powder.  I then took some Hickory Smoke Distress Ink and applied it to the edges with a Tsukineko Sponge Dauber.  Once this was done I applied them randomly to the card base with foam squares from my stash and the card was done.
