La-La-Land Crafts Birthday Marci

This card is made with another cute girl image from La-La-Land Crafts entitled Birthday Marci.  It too is for a young women at church and colored in her favorite colors.

I began by stamping the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto a quarter sheet of Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock.  The Copic Markers used are listed below.

Once I was done with the coloring I used a Lawn Fawn’s Large Stitched Stackable Rectangle to size down the image and added Darice Adhesive Fun Foam to the back for added dimension.  I die cut another rectangle from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and ran it through the Sizzix Big Shot Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle and again with the Sizzix Dotted Lattice Embossing Folder.  To pick up on the grey in the card I cut a rectangle from grey cardstock I had in my stash 1/8″ larger and adhered it to the back of the dry embossed panel with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The focal image was then glued to the embossed rectangle with the same glue.

I thought the sentiment from Penny Black’s Sprinkles and Smiles went perfect with the image.  I stamped it with VersaMark Ink on a scrap of the grey cardstock and heat embossed it with Gina K. Designs Fine Detail White Embossing Powder and cut it to size.  It was adhered on top of the focal image with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  Sequins from the Pretty Pink Posh Sweetheart Mix were scattered on the card front and adhered with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the card was done.

CTD432: Close to My Heart Hooray Bouquet

This is the third card I made inspired by the My Favorite Things Color Throwdown Challenge #432.

I have had the Close to My Heart Hooray Bouquet stamp set for a couple of years and never used it, so I decided it would work great for the challenge. The flowers were stamped with the Altenew Inks listed below on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock.  As a background for the flower focal image I die cut a rectangle using Simon Says Stamp Bundles of Stitched Shapes from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock.  I fussy cut the flowers with scissors and then die cut some leaves from a scrap of green and white polka dot paper using the Clearly Besotted Leafy Accents dies.

I then arranged the flowers and leaves into a bouquet that I liked and then used Press ‘n Seal to hold them together.  I tentatively placed the bouquet on the rectangle to determine placement for the sentiment from Close to My Heart Hooray Bouquet, which was stamped using the MISTI and Hero Hues India Ink Black.

Tombo Mono Multi Glue to the back bouquet and then carefully turned over to place it on the panel.  I held it in place for about 30 second to allow the glue to set and then gently removed the Press ‘n Seal.  The top layer of flowers where then adhered using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape for added dimension.  I have a large stash of rhinestones and pearls embellishments and different size white pearls were used for the flower centers.

To complete the card an A2 Side Folding Cardbase was made from 120# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock and the focal image rectangle was adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Supplies Used:

  • Close to My Heart Hooray Bouquet
  • Michael’s Rhinestone Pearls
  • Simon Says Stamp Bundles of Stitched Shapes (glued directly to cardbase)
  • Clearly Besotted Leafy Accents

CTD432: Simon Says Stamp Birthday Flowers

This is another stamp set that I purchased and had yet to use.  I liked the way it turned out.  The colors were inspired by My Favorite Things Color Takedown Challenge #432.

I started by stamping the images on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Altenew Inks: Sea Glass, Ocean Waves, Ruby, Warm Sunshine, Forest Glades, and Jet Black.  For some of the flower centers I used Altenew’s Vintage Flowers.  I adding veining to the leaves with Copic Markers YG63 and YG67.  I then fussy cut them out with scissors.

From Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock I die cut an oval using My Favorite Things Pierced Oval STAX and an rectangle using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  The rectangle was run through the Sizzix Big Shot with the Darice Basket Weave Embossing Folder.

The flower and leaves were arranged across the top of the landscape oval to determine placement of the sentiment.  The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted Stylish Sentiments and was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Rangers Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  Next the flowers and leaves were adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

An oval of Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was die cut and trimmed down to be added to the oval for added dimension on the card.  The embossed rectangle was adhered to a side folding A2 Cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then the focal center oval was adhered with the same glue.  I decided to add Nuvo Chrystal Drops Ebony Black to the flower centers.  A pin was used to draw the uneven centers outward and then Clear Wink of Stella was added for sparkle and shine and the card was done.

  • Simon Says Stamp Sentimental Bouquet
  • Altenew Vintage Flowers (Centers)

La-La-Land Crafts Love You Molli Birthday

La-La-Land Crafts has some great stamps with girl images that I use for birthday cards.  I recently purchased Love You Molli and created a card for a young woman at church with her favorite colors.

I stamped the image on 80# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I then die cut the image using Spellbinders Long Classic Rectangle, but ran it through again to make it a little shorter so it would fit better on the card front.

I colored the image using Copic Markers, colors used are listed below.  I gave her ground to stand on with C3, C2, and C1.

I die cut a panel of 80# White Cardstock with Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle and then found a matching blue cardstock and cut it with my paper trimmer to be the same size as an A2 card front (4 1/4 x 5 1/2).  To add some added interest I ran the white rectangle through the Sizzix Big Shot with the Darice Basketweave Embossing Folder and then adhered it to the blue rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Both were then adhered using the same glue to a top folding A2 size cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.

The Sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Stylish Sentiments: Birthday and was stamped on a scrap of blue cardstock with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Fine Detail White Embossing Powder and then trimmed to fit across the focal image panel.

Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller than the focal image and then both were adhered to the front of the card with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Sequins from Doodlebug Design Swimming Pool and Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Gold were scattered and adhered to the panel with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the card was done.

Hero Arts Color Layering Gold Fish Birthday Wishes

My son-in-law Troy is an avid fish lover.  He has a huge salt water aquarium with beautiful fish and anemones. Every year for his birthday we give him a gift card that he uses to add something beautiful to his tank, so I try to make his birthday cards with a fish and water theme. This year I used Hero Arts Color Layering Gold Fish and I liked the end product.

I began by making a frame with My  Favorite Things Pierced Rectangle Frames die and then cutting a piece of 80# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock just smaller to create a shaker card.  I used Ranger’s mini ink blending tools to ink blend  a blue background with Distress Ink Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, and Broken China.  I ink blended the frame using the Distress Inks.  The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted It’s Your Birthday and was stamped a couple of times with Salty Ocean.  I added a rectangle of Office Depot Binding Acetate Sheet cut 1/8″ smaller than the frame with 1/8″ Scor Tape.  Next a double layer of 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape, cut in half to be narrow enough not to show, was added behind the frame. Mikuki Seed Beads in Honey Butter and Gold was sprinkled into the frame for sand and the ink blended panel and frame were adhered together.

The seaweed was ink blended with Distress Inks Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint and die cut with the matching dies.  Originally I planned to put these inside the shaker, but I completely forgot and so they were applied to the front of the acetate panel with Scor Tape.

The gold fish were stamped with Hero Hues Pastel Peach, Butter Bar, and Wet Cement and die cut with the matching dies.  The two smaller fish were adhered to the front of the shaker with Score Tape and the largest with given added dimension with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

The shaker panel was adhered to a side folded A2 cardbase made from 120# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock and the card was done.

Supplies Used:

  • Hero Arts Color Layering Gold Fish and dies
  • Clearly Besotted It’s Your Birthday
  • Hero Hues Pastel Peach, Butter Bar, and Wet Cement for fish
  • Distress Salty Ocean (background and frame), Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Crushed Olive, and Peeled Paint
  • My Favorite Things Pierced Rectangle Frames
  • Mikuki Seed Beads Honey Butter and Gold for sand
  • Office Depot Binding Acetate Sheets

Concord & 9th Hello Lovely Birthday

Recently Concord & 9th came out with a beautiful stamp set called Hello Lovely.  Below is the first card that were made with this stamp.

I began by stamping the image on 80# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, since I would be coloring the image with Copic Markers.  The colors used are listed below.

After completing the coloring I die cut the image with the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  I then cut another rectangle from Gina K. Designs 120# Black cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle and adhered the two together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Using the same glue the panel was adhered to a top folding A2 Cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.

For the sentiment I die cut the Serendipity Happy Die from American Crafts Gold Glitter Cardstock and three times from scrap black cardstock. These were adhered together using Elmer’s Craft Bond Adhesive Spray.  I placed the cutout sentiment on the card to determine placement of the secondary sentiment which is from Simon Says Stamp Birthday Wishes and stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  The die cut word was attached to the card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Penny Black About Town Birthday

I love the Penny Black little people images.  They make perfect cards for the young women at church.  This one was made for a young girl who is turning sixteen and will soon have her driver’s license, how appropriate is that.

I began by stamping Penny Black’s About Town on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, since I planned to color it with her favorite colors of burgundy and turquoise.  The colors used are listed below.  I grounded the car with a hill of dark grey (Copic C8, C7, C6).

From my stash of cardstock I found BoBunny’s Double Dot Ocean Stripe cardstock and cut it with the Sizzix Big Shot using WPlus 9 Gift Card Layers Rectangle, which is the same size as an A2 card front.  Next I die cut the image using the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangle. When I  placed it on the striped background it needed a little something more and so I cut a rectangle from dark teal cardstock from my stash 1/8″ larger than the focal image, and adhered them together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

I placed the focal image on the card front to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment, which is from Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Happy.  I used VersaMark Ink and then covered it with Ranger Detailed Silver Embossing Powder, heat set with the Marvy Embossing Tool. Next Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was added to the back of the focal image and adhered to the card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The word happy was cut using the die from Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Happy out of Paper Accents Silver Mirror Cardstock and then cut three more times from scrap white cardstock.  The word cutouts were adhered together using Elmer’s Craft Bond spray adhesive.  The word was adhered to the bottom of the focal image with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

C.C. Designs Swiss Pixie Sunflower Lula Birthday Card

For young girls I think little people stamps make cute birthday cards.  I created birthday cards for the young women in our church who range in age from 12-18.  It was time to create some cards to have on hand for upcoming birthday. One of the girls favorite colors were orange and black. The image from C. C. Designs Swiss Pixie Sunflower Lula was great for creating a card with that color scheme.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, since I would be doing Copic Coloring, on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and ran it through my Silhouette Cameo with the PIXScan Mat to cut an outline around the image.  The Copic Markers used were: YR09, YR07, YR04; YR12, YR14, YR15; W7, W8, W9; YR09, Y19; W9, E49, E59; E49, E47, E55; E00, E00, E01.

In keeping with the color scheme I die cut a rectangle from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock with Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Frames.  I found some orange paper in my stash of cardstock that had faint yellow sunflowers and cut it to be just 1/8″ smaller than the die cut rectangle and adhered them together using the Scotch ATG Gun.  I pulled some black and white gingham ribbon from my stash and wrapped it around the background retangle, tying the bow on the left and placing it in the bottom third of the card.  Then the panel was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue, which gives you a few moment to move things around and center it perfectly on the cardbase.

I wanted the focal image to pop from the page so I die cut My Favorite Things Vertical Greetings Die from 80# White Cardstock and adhered it to the cardbase with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  The focal image was then centered on the vertical greeting die cut and adhered with some more foam tape.

The sentiment is from is from Whimsy Stamps Party Mini Letter Seals.  It was stamped on 80# white cardstock and then run through the Big Shot with a Spellbinders circle die.  Foam tape was added to the back of the sentiment and it was tucked under the ribbon bow.  A little Ranger Multi Matte Medium was used to ensure it remained in place.

The final embellishment was to scatter some Doodlebug Beetle Black, Pretty Pink Posh Charcoal, Doodlebug Tangerine, Pretty Pink Posh Tangerine Sequins and the card was done.

Penny Black Mimi’s Heart Birthday Card

I make a lot of cards with little girl images and they turn out so cute for the young women in our church.  I’m always looking for something new.  I recently purchased Penny Black Mimi’s Heart to give to a young girl with a February birthday.  I like the way it turned out.

I wanted to play up on the heart Mimi was holding and so I went to my cardstock store, as Michael calls it, to find some patterned paper I liked.  Since this one had multiple colors it gave a lot of options for creating the card.

I started with an outline of the image cut with the Silhouette Cameo and then stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, which is Copic safe.  I colored the image to compliment the patterned paper with the following colors: BG18, BG15, BG13; RV14, RV13, RV11; E55, E53, E51, E50; E01, E00, E000.

I cut a scalloped heart using the Spellbinders Scalloped Heart Die and then ran it through the Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Cross My Heart Embossing Folder for added dimension.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the focal image and the heart and both were applied to a square of patterned paper.  To allow enough room for people to add their birthday greetings to the inside of the card I wanted it to be a top folding A2 card, made for Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.

I didn’t like how the square patterned paper looked on the A2 card, so I pulled some dark turquoise paper from my stash to add behind the patterned paper.  Added was created by die cutting the bottom edge with the Spellbinders On the Edge Heart die. The sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder.

There was too space between the sentiment and the heart border and so two thin strips of white cardstock were added with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  For added shine Martha Stewart Sugar Cube Hearts were added to each of the embossed hearts with Multi Matte Medium and Silver Stickles was added to the dots on the heart the little girl was holding and the card was done.

C.C. Designs DoveArt Studios Himalayan Poppy Birthday Card

I am always looking for pretty flower stamps and when I saw the Himalayan Poppy stamp from C. C. Designs I knew it would make a beautiful card.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink because I wanted to color it with Copic Markers.  Since there wasn’t a matching die available I used my so I used my Silhouette Cameo PIXScan Mat to cut around the image.  The Copic Markers used were: G24, G94, G99 ; BG18, BG15, BG13; B00.

To assemble the card i die cut some Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with the largest Avery Elle Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables and then ran it through the Big Shot again with the Darice Basketweave Embossing Folder.  To accent the color of the flowers I cut some matching cardstock 1/8″ larger than the die cut rectangle and adhered the two together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the embossed panel was applied using Darice Adhesive Fun Foam and Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the focal image flowers and added to the embossed panel.

The sentiments is from My Favorite Things Celebrate You stamp set.  It was stamped on some Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock with Simon Says Stamp Clear Embossing Ink and Gina K. Designs Fine Detail White Embossing Powder was added and heat set with the Marvy Embossing Tool.  It was then cut into a double fishtail banner and adhered to the card with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  To add a little more interest Gold Tinsel Stickles was added to the stamen of the flowers and the card was done.
