Moon Lake Masculine Birthday Card

I have had the stamp set Moon Lake from Stampin’ Up for some time and decided to pull it out again to make a masculine birthday card.  I really like the way it turned out.

I stamped the focal image on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Hero Arts India Ink Black.  The birds are from Gina K. Designs By the Sea and the sentiment if from Clearly Besotted’s It’s Your Birthday, all stamped with Hero Arts India Ink Black.

I wanted to ink blend a background to add interest and dimension to the focal image.  A small circle was cut from a 3 x 3 full adhesive sticky note using Simon Says Stamp Nested Circle Die and adhered in the upper left to preserve that area for the sun as the rest of the image was ink blended with Inkylicious Ink Dusters and Distress Inks: Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass, and Broken China.  Once I was satisfied with the background the negative of the post-it was placed in the appropriate spot and the sun was ink blended using Distress Fossilized Amber.

Once the focal image was finished, it was run through Big Shot with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  A rectangle 1/8″ larger was cut from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and adhered to the back of the focal image with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut just smaller than the black cardstock and adhered to the back of the focal image using the same glue.

A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The focal image was adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Big Wishes Birthday Card

I love the cute little girls that are in Penny Black’s Big Wishes stamp set.  This card was made for a young women at church whose favorite color is yellow.  I think the plaid patterned paper really helps to accent the color

The image was stamped on Canson XL Watercolor Paper with VersaFine Black Ink and then heat embossed with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  I was able to stamp the image and take it with me to color while I was waiting for my car to be serviced.  It really made the time go quickly.  Tombo Dual Brush Markers were used to color the image: 942 Tan, 800 Baby Pink, :025 Light Orange, 026 Golden Yellow, 993 Chrome Orange, 991 Light Ocher, N65 Cool Gray 5, 993 Orange.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink stylish Sentiments: Birthday and was stamped with VersaFine Black Ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder as well.

The focal image was die cut using the second largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles and Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller and adhered to the back.  The patterned paper from Recollections Bright and Basic 12 x 12 Paper Pack was die cut using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles and was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Cardstock using Elmer’s Blue Runner adhesive.  The focal image was then adhered to the cardbase using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

By the Sea Masculine Birthday Card

There are beautiful images in the Gina K. Designs By the Sea stamp set that make great masculine cards.  For this card I chose the boat nestled by a tree and stamped it with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink and then ink blended with Ranger Distress Ink Antique Linen.

It is a simple design and didn’t take very much time to create.  The images were stamped on Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock.  The sentiment is from the Clearly Besotted It’s Your Birthday stamp set with the same Memento Rich Cocoa Ink.

Once the card was stamped and blended I ran it through the Big Shot with Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  To help the focal image stand out and to accent the brown ink Gina K. Designs 120# Dark Chocolate Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger than the focal image rectangle and adhered to the back with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  A Darice Sticky Back Foam Sheet was cut with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle and adhered to the back of the focal image.  It was then glued to an A2 Top Folding Cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock.

I didn’t like how stark the contrast was between the focal image and the cardbase and so the edges of the cardbase were ink blended with Antique Linen Distress Ink and the card was done.

Bonjour Mimi Happy Birthday

This was another card I colored while having my car serviced. It was stamped on Canson XL Coldpress 140# Watercolor Paper with VersaFine Black Ink, heat embossed with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder and colored with Tombo Dual Brush Markers.  I hate wasting time.  It seems there isn’t enough in a day to get done what I need to, and when I can’t be productive it drives me crazy, so this really worked out well.

The young woman who this card was made for is an accomplished violinist who has performed at Carnegie Hall as a youth performer, So I thought C. C. Designs Bonjour! Mimi had a little cosmopolitan flair.  Her favorite color is blue and the Tombo Dual Brush markers used to color the image were: 942 Tan, 800 Baby Pink, 977 Saddle Brown, 879 Brown, N65 Cool Gray 5, N55 Cool Gray 7, 565 Deep Blue, 553 Mist Purple, 451 Sky Blue.

The sentiment used is from Gina K. Designs Birthday Greetings and fit perfectly at the bottom of the focal image, which had been cut with the second largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  It too was stamped with VersaFine Black Ink and heat embossed with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller than the focal image and adhered to the back.

The blue striped background paper is from the Recollections Bright and Basic 12 x 12 Paper Pack and was cut with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  It was adhered to the back of a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Elmer’s Dot Runner.  The focal image was then adhered to the background using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Birthday Cake Lucy

C. C. Designs has some really cute girl images that make great birthday cards, this one is call Birthday Cake Lucy.  This card was made for a young lady that’s favorite color is green.  Not sure how often you see a deep green frosting, but the card turned out cute.

I was going to have my car serviced and it usually takes about two hours, so I stamped quite a few images on watercolor paper with VersaFine Black Ink, heat embossed them with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder and took my Tombo Dual Brush Markers with me.  It really made the time go quickly and I felt like I wasn’t wasting my time.

The color of markers used were: 195 Light Green, 245 Sap Green, 277 Dark Green, 020 Peach, 942 Tan, 969 Chocolate, 879 Brown, 933 Orange.

When I got home I die cut the image with the second largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  This allow for the green background paper from the Recollections Bright and Basic 12 x 12 Paper Pack to enhance her favorite color.  I die cut the patterned paper using the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles and glued it to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with some Elmer’s Dot Runner Adhesive.

The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Celebrate You and was stamped at the bottom of the patterned paper with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  To help it stand out a little more, I used a green Tombo Marker and created a drop shadow to the words.

Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut to be 1/8 smaller than the focal image and was adhered to the back to add dimension.  It was then adhered to the patterned paper with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Full of Glee Birthday Wish

I recently purchased Penny Black’s Full of Glee and love this floral bouquet.  It is perfect for all coloring mediums.  I decided to stamp the image on Canson XL 140# Cold Press Water Color Paper with VersaFine Black Ink so that it could embossed with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder.  The raised lines this creates make it very easy to watercolor.  I used my MISTI so that it could be stamped multiple times to get a clear impression on the rough surface of watercolor paper.

I decided to use Tombo Dual Brush Markers to color the image.  Colors used are: 192 Asparagus, 228 Gray Green, 195 Light Green, 815 Cherry, and 606 Violet.  I watered down the light green for a background wash to make the image pop off the page.

The sentiment is from C. C. Designs Amy R Great Birthday Greetings and was also stamped with VersaFine Black Ink and heat embossed with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  It fit perfectly in the lower right corner.

Once the image was completely dry, I die cut it using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles and then cut some green cardstock I had in my stash 1/8″ larger.  The two were adhered together using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back of the watercolor focal image and then adhered to an A2 Top Folding Cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with the same glue and the card was done.

There’s No Such Thing as Too Many Candles Birthday Card

I’m always thinking of cards that can be used for masculine birthday cards.  About half of the birthday cards I send are for people who are senior citizens (over 60).  I really liked the sentiment from My Favorite Things Big Birthday Sentiments “There’s no such thing as too many candles,” and decided to use this as the theme for this card.

I recently purchased Impression Obsession’s Candle Block stamp and die and thought the candles would be the perfect size to put a lot of them on a birthday cake.  So, I searched my dies and decided to use the layered cake from Hero Arts Make a Wish stamp and die.  I cut the cake layers from a scrap of brown cardstock and shaded it with Copic Markers (colors listed below).  The cake stand was cut from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock.

Since the cake was chocolate, I decided I wanted to have a complimentary patterned paper background.  I found this chevron paper from My Mind’s Eye Adventure Paper Pad and die cut it with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  It was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock using Tombo Mono Glue Runner Dot Adhesive.

The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink on a scrap of the brown cardstock and then heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  It was adhered to the card front using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

The candles were stamped multiple times with the Memento Inks listed below and then die cut with the matching die.  Candles in the back where adhered directly to the cardbase and the candles in the front with thin strips of 3M 1/2″ Fun Foam.  Gold Stickles was used for the flame of the candles and the card was done.

Power Poppy Rose and Chamomile Pink Tipped White Happy Birthday Card

This is the last card made with the Power Poppy Rose and Chamomile Digital Stamp.  This time I decided on another two-toned rose of white and hot pink.

The image was printed on Neenah Solar White 80# Cardstock with a laser printer.  Copic Markers RV11, RV13, RV14; C00, C0, C1, C2; G24, G94, G99; BG0000, BG10 were used to color the image.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  To add interest to the card it was run through the Big Shot with the Darice Basketweave Embossing Folder with pressure only applied to the top 2/3 of the card.  A Scor-Pal was used to add an embossed line separating the embossed portion of the card from front the bottom of the card.

The sentiment from Clearly Besotted Fancy Sayings was stamped on the bottom of the card with Hero Arts Bubblegum Ink.  Butterflies were punched using the Martha Stewart Three Butterflies Punch and then colored in the same way as the rose.  Small white pearls were used for the body of the butterflies.

The focal image was die cut using Spellbinders Classic Square Large Die and then adhered to the dry embossed area of the card front with Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam and Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Power Poppy Rose and Chamomile Deep Pink Just for You Card

I love roses.  I live in a warm sunny climate, which is perfect for roses.  I have about 10 or 12 different plants around my house.  For this card I Copic Colored the rose image from Power Poppy Rose and Chamomile with a Deep Pink.

The image was printed on Neenah Solar White 80# White Cardstock with a laser printer, which is Copic Marker safe.  Colors used  are: R32, R35, R37, R39; G99, YG97, YG93; G20.

Once the coloring was complete it was die cut with the Memory Box Stitched Rectangles.  I don’t use these dies as often as regular stitched dies, but I like the cross stitched look that it creates.

The sentiment from Clearly Besotted Fancy Sayings and was stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black in the lower left corner of the focal image rectangle.  A rectangle of Darice Sticky Foam Tape was cut 1/8”smaller with a guillotine paper cutter and adhered to the back of the focal image.

An A2 Cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock adn the focal image was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Power Poppy Rose and Chamomile Yellow Happy Birthday Card

For this card the Card the rose from Power Poppy Rose and Chamomile was colored in yellow Copic Markers. I love yellow roses.

Once the coloring was complete the image was fussy cut with scissors. Next a rectangle of 80# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock was cut with the second largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles and then run through the Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder.  A Rectangle of yellow cardstock was cut 1/8” larger than the embossed rectangle and both were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back.

3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back of the cutout rose and it was adhered to the dry embossed rectangle.  The focal image rectangle was then placed on a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock to determine where to stamp the sentiment from Sizzix Birthday Cake, which was stamped with Hero Arts India Ink Black.

The focal image was adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.
