Hot Foil Life’s A Journey Masculine Birthday Card II

This card uses the leftover dies from the previous card. The Cottage Cuts Racecars and Flags die has two different cars. This time I decided to adhered the elements directly to the background using liquid glue.

The background is the waste of a background create using Gina Marie Designs Stud Dot Argyle. Even the name of the die sounds masculine. When foiling waste you get a more distressed look to the foil. You will see there are few places where the foil didn’t adhere, but I kind of like that look. The edges of the foiling were overly distressed and so I decided to cut down the panel with a stitched rectangle.

I began by laying the elements of the card on the background panel and then start gluing things in place. I actually created this card before the previous one. I first removed all the checkers on the red flag and glued it to the background panel. I then carefully removed the checkers from the place die cut flag and adhered them in place with tiny dots of liquid glue. This took a bit of time, but I like the way it turned out. The red car was then placed and adhered and then the tired were layered and adhered in place.

The sentiment was stamped on a scrap black mirror cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed silver.

Foam tape was added to the foiled background focal image panel and it was adhered to a side folding A2 cardbase. If I had to do this card again I would add the red mat to the focal image panel and the sentiment, but I still like the look of the card.

Hot Foil Life’s a Journey Masculine Birthday Card

I am having so much fun experimenting with different background dies I have using them with hot foil. I have done a lot on white cardstock and decided to give it a try with a dark cardstock. I love the look of silver on black and that combination using hot foil did not disappoint.

For this card I used Spellbinder’s Basic Lattice Impressibilities Die. I wanted to use it on a masculine card and pulled out the Cottage Cuts Racecars and Flags die. This is a solid die that cuts out all the pieces you need to assemble a couple of cars. I cut it from black, red, and silver mirror cardstock and assembled the race car and the flags together to create this card.

I needed a sentiment that would go along with the car image and found something perfect from Unity Stamp’s For the Guys. It was stamped on a scrap of black cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed silver. It was cut down so size using a Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Label Die. Since the car was red I added a red mat to the back of the sentiment.

To assemble the card I added foam tape behind the images and sentiment to make them pop on the card front and adhered them all using liquid glue. Before adhering to a black side folding cardbase I decided to mat the foiled background with red mirror cardstock. I love the way it turned out.

Masculine Racecar Happy Birthday

I think this Cottage Cuts Racecar and Flags is an awesome die. The only thing I don’t like is that it is one single die for all the pieces to assemble the cards. The good thing about that is you get a lot of pieces to make multiple cards from one die cut. I had purchased a long time ago a pack of Crafter’s Companion Luxury Mirror Cardstock in a multi-color pack. I pulled out the Turquoise to make this card.
