Foiled Celebrate with Cake

I had a thin strip of the pretty blue and white flowered patterned paper leftover from a previous card and decided to use it on another card instead of throwing it away. I searched through the same 6×6 paper pad to find a coordinating paper. A rectangle was cut down using a stitched rectangle die.

I decided to use my new Crafter’s Companion Distress Border die. I determined where to place it so that it would be covered up by the patterned paper strip and ran it through the Gemini FoilPress with gold foil. I love the way it turned out. The strip of patterned paper was also cut using a stitched rectangle die. Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back and it was adhered to the left of the foiled distress border.

For the focal image I decided to use the Spellbinders Celebrate With Cake die. Each layer of the cake was cut from a scrap of navy cardstock and the background die was used to cut gold mirror cardstock and adhered it behind the navy cake layers with the patterns cut out. It was pretty, but I decided to cut the detailed layers from gold mirror cardstock that had double-sided tape added to the back and inlay the pieced into the navy layers. I liked that much better.

The cake stand, flowers, and leaves of the die set were also cut from gold mirror cardstock. Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the cake stand, cake layers, and flowers and then each was adhered to the blue patterned paper.

The sentiment was cut from gold mirror cardstock and adhered below the cake with liquid glue. Copic markers were used to add a little dimension to the cake layers.

At the last minute I decided to add a thin strip of navy blue cardstock between the flower patterned paper and the foiled border.

Foiled Regency Frame Happy Birthday

This frame is a frame foil and cut die from Crafter’s Companion. It had been sitting on my desktop every since I first got my foiling machine and I finally decided to make a card with it.

I placed the frame on a side folding white cardstock cardbase to determine where to foil the sentiment. I wouldn’t recommend doing the sentiment foiling directly to the cardbase. The impression could be seen on the inside of the card, so I cut down the card front and create a panel smaller than a A2 cardbase. I decided to add some texture using the Stampin’ Up Subtle Embossing Folder. The foiling handles the embossing great. Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the panel and it adhered it to another side folding cardbase.

I removed the release paper from a strip of Big Mama Foam Tape and curved it around the back of the frame adhered it over the sentiment panel. It was pretty, but it needed a little color. I pulled out the Spellbinders Foliage Border and used a few of the flower and leaves. The flowers were foiled with pink and the leaves with green. Once the foiling was complete the coordinating dies were used to cut them out. Any open areas on the leaves and flowers were colored with Copic Markers. The leaves and two smaller leaves were adhered to the bottom of the frame with liquid glue and the top flower with a little bit of foam tape. It was just the pop of color needed on the card.

Vintage Flower Foiled Thinking of You

I used Crafter’s Companion Grande Swirl Background die with the Gemini FoilPress to create the background for this card. It added a beautiful background to Altenew’s Vintage Garden flower and leaves. The background was cut down using a stitched rectangle.

The flower and leaves were stamped with a light memento ink and then colored with Copic Markers. Once the coloring was complete it was stamped again with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed gold and then cut out using the coordinating die. Foam tape was added to the back and it was adhered to the bottom of the foiled background.

The same Copic Marker colors as were used to create matching cardstock for the sentiment. It was hot foiled with gold foil and cut into a thin banner. Foam tape was added to the back and adhered in place.

When I went to place the focal image panel onto the top folding white cardbase I decided it needed a little more color. Copic Markers were used to color cardstock to create a mat of cardstock in the same color as flower. It was adhered using dotliner adhesive and then adhered to the cardbase using liquid glue.

At the last minute gold confetti was scattered around the flower and the card was done.

Foiled Time to Celebrate

When I got my Crafter’s Companion Gemini Foil Press Machine I pulled out a lot of different background dies and experimenting with foiling them. For the most part they worked great. I had this polka dot pattern on pink laying on my desktop when I was doing some Copic Maintenance and cleaning the caps and filling the barrels. I accidently got a streak of green ink in the lower left of the pink panel. At first I threw it away, but then I got thinking that maybe I could cover it up with a focal image. I decided to use Altenew’s Cake Love.

I stamped the layers of the cake and then added details with Copic Markers. I decided to use the small flowers and leaves from Spellbinders Glimmer Foliage Border and Christmas Organic Foliage. I colored them with Copic Markers as well.

I adhered the layers of the cake together with liquid glue and then fussy cut the image out. I added Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape behind the image for a little dimension and placed it over the green streak on the pink cardstock. The flower and leaves were adhered with foam tape as well.

The sentiment is from Spellbinders Glimmer More Sentiments. I used the pink Copic Markers I had used on the cake to create my own ombre cardstock and hot foiled the sentiment. I was adhered over the cake stand with foam tape.

Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape is low loft, which means you can add multiple layers of foam and it will still mail well. I added foam tape behind the pink focal image panel and adhered it to a top folding cardbase and the card was done.

Sparkled Especially For You

This is the last card I made lately using Altenew’s Sparkled stamp set. This time I decided on a sunny yellow color.

I had previously made a foiled background using My Favorite Things Peek-a-Book Polka Dots Background. This time I used ivory cardstock. I love the subtle shine it adds to a card when hot foiled. I cut the panel down using a stitched rectangle and adhered it to a top folding A2 cardbase.

For the focal image I adhered the leaves directly to the card front with liquid glue and added sticky back foam to the flower for a little dimension.

This was a quick and easy card to create, but has an elegant look with the foiling.

Golden Swirl Happy Birthday

This card also uses a background created with a regular die and gold foil. The foiling creates such a lovely background. I have learned that when you are foiling a large background you get a better result if you use a larger piece of cardstock. It was cut down using a stitched rectangle. Sticky back foam was added to the back and the panel was adhered to a top folded A2 cardbase with liquid glue.

For a focal image on this card I decided to use Altenew’s Sparkled stamp set, which is a layering stamp. When you are stamping a layered stamp it is easy to create more than one at the time. For this card I used the pink flower. Once the stamping layers were complete the leaves and flowers were cut out using the coordinating die. The leaves were adhered with liquid glue to the card front. The flower die was used to cut out some sticky back foam, which was trimmed down to be just smaller than the focal image. It was adhered to the front of the card with liquid glue.

The sentiment is another foiled sentiment from Spellbinders with a matching die. Sticky back foam was added to the back so that it would be on the same level as the flower, with the exception of the portion that laid on the flower.

Happy Birthday Loye

A sweet friend at church has a birthday this week. Loye reminds me so much of my mother, although she is about ten years younger. I wanted to create a special birthday card for her, so I called her daughter and asked what her favorite colors were and used them to create this card for her.

I stamped the image with a light gray memento ink first, leaving the stamp in place in the MISTI, and colored it with Copic Markers. I love the way the light peach flowers turned out. I wasn’t sure I had the right colors for a pale peach, but they turned out lovely and beautiful contrast to the darker peach flower. Sage green is Loye’s favorite color and I tried to pick markers that wouldn’t be too dark for the flowers and still have that hue.

Once the coloring was complete I stamped it again with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. I always use this double stamping method with coloring with Copic Markers because the embossing powder can ruin your nibs. Once the embossing was cool I fussy cut the image with scissors.

I wanted to add some visual interest behind the flower bouquet and decided to emboss a background die. I pulled out Crafter’s Companion Grande Swirls and embossed a rectangle that had been sized with the largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle, which cover the entire front of an A2 cardbase. I adhered it to a side folding cardbase with liquid glue.

Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the bouquet, the protective paper removed and then it was adhered to the card front.

For the sentiment I colored a scrap of white cardstock with the same green Copic Markers as the leaves and stamped the sentiment with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it gold. It was cut down using a Honey Bee Sentiment Banner, leaving the right side long enough that the flag could be cut off. Foam tape was added to the back and it was adhered to the lower right of the card.

The final embellishment was to scatter a few Pretty Pink Posh Gold Metallic Sequins around the bouquet.

Sending Hugs and Prayers

My baby sister has been in the hospital twice in the last month. They are not sure what is her problem, but she is contracting sepsis and they don’t know the cause. This time her blood pressure got to an extreme low of 56/30 before they started on medication to bring it up. She is doing better, but we are still waiting to see if they can determine the cause. We are definitely sending lots of prayers.

Garden Pick Sending Prayers

When I was at Hobby Lobby recently they had this pretty Crafters Companion Grand Swirls Die on 40% off and so I decided to get it. It makes a beautiful card. I had some light gray and white patterned paper that I used behind the swirls, used silver mirror and light gray cardstock for the sentiment, and then decided to add a pop of red with some flowers from Altenew’s Garden Pick 3D Dies.
