Ranunculus Happy Birthday

WPlus9 has such beautiful bouquet stamps and I hope they make more. This card was made with Beautiful Bouquet Ranunculus, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto an outline for the stamp cut with my Silhouette Cameo.  (Instructions for creating a cutout image can be found on the September 29, 2016, post entitled “Happy Birthday Princess with Silhouette Cameo.”)  Copic Markers used were: Y13, Y15, Y17; V12, V15, V17; RV02, RV04; G85, G43, G24; G99, G94; YG93, YG95, YG97; G85, G94; BG10.

I dies cut a rectangle from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with the Memory Box Stitched Rectangles.  I placed the focal image on the rectangle to determine placement for the sentiment, which is from Sugar Pea Designs Celebrate All Things, stamped with Hero Hues Black.  I really like the look of dimension on my cards and so I generously added 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to the back of the flower image and applied it to the white rectangle.

I took some purple cardstock from my stash to create a top foldling cardbase.  For added interest I ran the front of the card through the Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was added to the back of the panel and then adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

I always add details to the inside of my cards, but I don’t usually photograph them.  This time I liked the way the sentiment “celebrate” was carried over to the inside “you” from Simon Says Stamp You Matter stamp set and thought I would share.  I stamped the flower bouquet with Memento London Fog ink, and then stamped “you” with Altenew Deep Iris ink.  Next “Happy Birthday” was stamped with Hero Hues Black.

I liked the look of the card, but felt it was too much purple and so I cut down the front of the card to be 5 1/4″ x 4″ and glued it to a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Next I cut down the inside of the card to the same size and applied it with Tombo Stamp Runner adhesive to the inside of the card.  Making this change really let the focal image panel pop off the card and I liked it much better.

Masculine Birthday: Happy Birthday Hexagon

For this card I used some patterned paper from the Craft Smith Indigo Gold paper pack.  I selected the grey and cream hexagon design and die cut it with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  I used Gina K. Designs 100# Navy Cardstock for the cardbase, cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″.  The patterned paper was adhered with Creative Hands Peel & Stick Foam Sheets for dimension.

00186For the sentiment I used Wplus9 Happy Trio to die cut one of the “happy” words from Paper Accents Mirror Gold Cardstock.  I then die cut it three more times in grey cardstock and glued them together with a Zig 2-Way Glue Pen and applied it to the lower right of the card.  I then stamped the word “birthday” from Winnie and Walter Big Bold & Party stamp with VersaMark ink at the bottom of the panel, prepping the area with an Inkadinkado Embossing Magic pad, apply Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat setting it with the Marvy Embossing Tool.

To add some interest and dimension I fussy cut six of the hexagons from leftover patterned paper.  To add even more interest I used my Versamark Marker to add a dot to the center of each and added gold embossing powder.  I then took some Hickory Smoke Distress Ink and applied it to the edges with a Tsukineko Sponge Dauber.  Once this was done I applied them randomly to the card base with foam squares from my stash and the card was done.

Masculine Birthday Card: I See You Have a Birthday

From the The Paper Studio Glasses, Staches, & Ties paper pack I die cut the glasses paper with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes and adhered it with Tombo Dot Adhesive Stamp Runner to a side fold card base, made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.

00188I die cut a piece of Gina K. Designs 100# Black Cardstock with the second largest Avery Elle Double Pierced Square.  I eliminated any static and oils with my EK Tools Embossing Powder prior to stamping the glasses and “I see you” sentiment from with VersaMark Ink.  I used several Winnie and Walter the Big the Bold stamps (Happy for y and a; Extra for have; Party for birthday) for the second line of the sentiment.  I covered the stamps with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat set it with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.

I placed this panel on the patterned paper and felt that it needed something more to make it pop, so I stamped the Chevron Border from the same stamp set with VersaMark Ink on the left of the patterned paper, added gold embossing powder and heat set it.  This added that little extra that the card needed.  I adhered the black panel with Creative Hands Peel & Stick Foam Sheets for dimension and the card was done.

I like to add some element of the card to the inside of the card, as well as the envelope as seen in the picture above.

Pretty Patterned Paper Cards

Every two months we have an evening meeting for the women in our church.  This month our theme is “Scatter Sunshine.”  One of the activities we will be doing is making handmade cards that can be given to someone we know who needs a pick-me-up.  Since there are a lot of the women who have never made a handmade card we wanted to be sure some of the cards would be less intimidating, so we have several samples made with patterned paper, stamping a sentiment, and adding a little embellishment.

I thought it would be fun to share some pretty cards that can be made with pattern papers we have in our personal stash of supplies.

For this card the flower and leaves were stamped in VersaMark ink from Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Floral Greetings and embossed with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder.  A finger sponge dauber was used to color the center of the flower with Distress Spun Sugar and the leaves with Distress Peeled Paint.  For the Martha Steward Butterfly Punch and the Simon Says Stamp Faith die a piece of scrap paper was covered with VersaMark Ink and Ranger Gold Embossing Powder before die cutting/punching.  This way they perfectly match the flower and leaves. The word “with” is from Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold and Comfort.

This paper had the same loopy flowers as Simon Says Stamp Heart of Roses die.  I used some red cardstock from my stash to die cut the heart, along with Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Love.  The patterned paper was run through the Sizzix Big shot with the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables and then backed with some red card stock, which was cut 1/8″ larger.  This added a pop of color to the panel and tied in the heart and sentiment.  The “sending you” sentiment was stamped with Hero Hues Black from the same stamp set.  The patterned paper panel was adhered to the card base with some Fun Foam to add dimension.

For this card red flowers were die cut from Paper Smooches Pocket Wise die set.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Look for the Miracles stamp set and was stamped with VersaMark Ink and embossed with Recollections Snow Embossing Powder.  The center of the flowers are Doodlebug Designs Enamel Sprinkles.  The patterned paper was run through the Sizzix Big Shot with Simon Says Stamp Bundles of Stitched Shapes and then attached to a card base with Fun Foam to add some dimension.

00184

This card only has some Doodlebug Designs Enamel Sprinkles for the center of the flowers and a sentiment stamped in Hero Hues Black ink from Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Floral Greetings.  The paper has a rough surface, so I used the MISTI so the sentiment could be stamped several times.  The patterned paper was run through the Sizzix Big Shot with Simon Says Stamp Bundles of Stitched Shapes and then attached to a card base with Fun Foam to add some dimension.

Hope you have fun using some of your pretty patterned paper lying around your craft room.

Bright and Colorful Background Stamping

I’ve done this card before but wanted to see how it would blend with pinks and blues.  I love the combination.

00173I stamped Hero Arts Flower Wallpaper Background Stamp on Canson 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Ink.  I covered the stamped image with Recollections Snow Embossing Powder and heat set it with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.

Using Tsukineko Sponge Daubers I applied the following Distress Inks: Broken China, Tumbled Glass, Picked Raspberrry, Spun Sugar, Mowed Lawn, and Shaded Lilac

Once the Distress ink was applied I generously misted it with water to let the colors blend and set it aside to dry.  Afterwards I ran it through the Big Shot with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundled of Stitched Shapes.

The stamped the sentiment from C. C. Designs Amy R. Elegant Greetings Stamp on a strip of WorldWin Papers Vellum in VersaMark Ink, prepping the vellum with an Embossing Buddy to ensure a crisp clean image.  I then heat embossed it with Ranger Silver Embossing Powder with my Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.

I wrapped the vellum around the background image a little to the right so that I could add some rhinestone daisies that I’ve had in my stash forever, so I don’t know the manufacturer.  To keep it in place I simply used Scotch Tape on the back of the panel.

I cut a piece of white craft foam 1/4″ smaller than the panel and adhered it to the back with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  I then used the same glue to adhere the panel to a top folding Gina K. Designs 120# White Card Base cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″ and the card was done.

Sending Hugs & Prayers

This clean and simple card could be used for a sympathy card or just to give encouragement to someone who is having a hard time.

00164This is a simple card that doesn’t take very long to make.  I used my Inkadinkado Embossing Buddy to removing any oils from the Canson 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper  prior to stamping the rose from Clearly Besotted Happy Everything Stamp with VersaMark Ink.  Next I embossed the image with Hero Arts Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.  Embossing the image makes watercoloring quick and easy as it ensures the color stays within the raised lines.

For my palette I have a piece of white cardstock that I have laminated.  Using my mini Distress Ink pads I smooshed some Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar, Bundled Sage, Crushed Olive onto the palette.  I applied the color with my Kuretake Waterbrush.

Once the watercolor panel was completely dry I ran it through my Big Shot with the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  Because I was stamping on watercolor paper I stamped the sentiment from the Simon Says Stamp Friendship Blooms Sentiment Stamp using my MISTI so I could stamp multiple time for a clear impression.

I applied the focal image with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to a Top Folding Gina K. Designs 120# White card base, cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″ and the card was done.
