Framescape Birthday Greetings

This is the second card I made with Gina K. Designs Framescape Winter Trees.  I really like the peaceful mountain lake scene.  I used several colors of Memento Inks to stamp the images using ink cubes, which allows for more precise placement of the ink.  Colors used were Tuxedo Black; Olive Grove, Rich Coca, Toffee Crunch.  Copic Markers were used to enhance the stamped images (colors listed below).

I die cut a small circle from a full sticky back post-it.  I used the negative post-it to ink blend the sun rising from the horizon with Distress Inks Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey.  I then covered the sun with the positive die cut and ink blended the sky with Tumbled Glass and Broken China.

The focal image was die cut using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  To draw the eye into the scene Gina K. Designs Dark Chocolate Cardstock was cut 1/8” larger than the focal image rectangle and adhered to the back with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  A rectangle of Darice Sticky Back Foam was die cut with the same rectangle die and adhered to the back of the focal image.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Yummy Treats and was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink.  A side folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Kraft Cardstock.  The focal image was adhered to the font with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Elizabeth Background Birthday Card I, II, and III

I recently purchased Simon Says Stamp Elizabeth Background Stamp.  It is a beautiful, detailed medallion stamp.  It was stamped three times onto Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with VersaMark Onyx Black Ink and then heat embossed with Hero Arts Ultra Fine Clear Embossing Powder.

I decided to color the images with both Copic Markers and Spectrum Noir Markers.  You have to be very careful with coloring with alcohol markers on images with embossing powder since can ruin the nibs of the markers.

This first image was stamped with Copic Markers: Y00, Y04, Y06 / YG51, YG53, G94 / RV11, RV13, RV14 / R39, RV69 / BG18, BG15 / G46, G29.  Once the coloring was completed it was die cut using a My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle.  Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock was cut 1/8” larger and adhered to the back of the focal image with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was die cut with the same rectangle die and adhered to the back of the focal image.

The sentiment is from Gina K. Designs Grand Greetings and was stamped on a strip of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back and then the sentiment was adhered to the lower rectangle of the focal image panel.

The focal image panel was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

VThis second card made with Simon Says Stamp Elizabeth Background Stamp was colored with Spectrum Noir Markers: IG1, IG2 / DR1, DR5 / PP3, PP5 / CG2, DG3 / TB3.  This time the focal image was die cut using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  Everything else with the card was assembled the same as the last one.

Ornate Birthday Background

This second card made with Simon Says Stamp Elizabeth Background Stamp was colored with Spectrum Noir Markers: PP3, PP5 / DG21, DG3 / DR1, DR5 / BT4, BT5.  This time the focal image was die cut using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  Everything else with the card was assembled the same as the last one.

Simon Says Stamp Ornate Background Stamp makes a beautiful card, but it isn’t one that can be created quickly.  There is a lot of detail to the image and it takes a white to color it, with whatever medium is used.  For this card it was stamped on Canson XL 140# Watercolor Paper with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  Even though I didn’t use watercolor paper I decided to color the card using FineTec M600 Gold Watercolor Paint and Kuretake Gansai Tambi Pearl Watercolor.

Once the coloring was dry I die cut the panel using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle and matted the back with Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock cut 1/8” larger.  The two were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The sentiment is from C. C. Designs Amy R Elegant Greetings.  (Unfortunately this stamp set is no longer available, but there are other lovely script greetings that can be used.)  It was stamped on a scrap of black cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The sentiment was matted with Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock, Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back and then it was adhered to the focal image.

The focal panel was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the card was done.  Beautiful and elegant.

Stitched Leaves Birthday Card

I love these beautiful leaves from the Gina K. Designs Stitched Leaves stamp set.  When I was searching through my patterned paper for other cards I ran across this one from the Echo Park 6 x 6 Lori Whitlock the Story of all and decided to use it as the color pallet for the leaves.

I stamped the leaves with Gina K. Designs Ink: Cherry Red, Tomato Soup, Prickly Pear, and Warm Cocoa.  For the second layer I decided to use Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  I stamped the detailed layer stamp with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed the gold embossing powder.  It makes a very elegant looking leaf.  They were then die cut with the coordinating dies.

I had this golden modern chevron circle left over from another card and thought it would create neutral background for the leaves.  I stamped the arched sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Best Ever stamp set with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with the Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  I die cut a circle from Darice Sticky Back Foam and trimmed it down to be slightly smaller and adhered it to the back of the patterned paper circle.

The patterned paper for Lori Whitlock’s The Story of Fall was die cut using a My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle and adhered directly to the front of a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock using Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  The chevron circle was then adhered to the front of this panel with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The leaves were then adhered with the same glue, with the exception of the large red maple leaf, which was applied using 3M ½” Foam Tape.

I felt that the card needed a little division from the upper leaves portion and the bottom of the card and so I strip of yellow cardstock was cut and adhered using a thin strip of 3M foam tape.  As a final embellishment, I remember that I had some leaf brads left over from my scrapbooking days and adhered it to the left of the gold strip of paper with Memory Box Glue Dots and the card was done.

Flashy Florals Birthday Card IV

This is the fourth card I made with My Favorite Things Flashy Florals and their Wonky Rectangle.  To add interest to the focal image the rectangle was embossed with the Cuttlebug Kaleidoscope Embossing Folder.

Since the focal image was embossed the sentiment from Gina K. Designs Sentiment Bouquet was stamped on Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.

Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller than the focal image and then adhered to a side folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Turquoise rhinestones were pulled from my stash of embellishments and added to the center of the small blue flowers.

After the card was done I decided to scatter more turquoise rhinestones around the flowers and sentiment.  I’m not sure which one I like the best.

Rose Bouquet Happy Birthday to You

I love pretty rose stamps and this new one from Clearly Besotted entitle Thanks A Bunch is one of my favorites.

I stamped it on Canson XL Cold Press 140# Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Onyx Black Ink and then heat embossed it with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool and Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  For this card I used ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers 022 Carmine Red, 024 Wine Red, 026 Light Pink, 043 Light Olive, and 036 Light Blue to color the image.

The watercolored panel was then die cut using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  A slightly larger rectangle was cut with a guillotine paper cutter out of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock 1/8” larger than the focal image and adhered to the back of the watercolored panel with Sookwang Be Creative Tape.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut with the same Stitched Rectangle die and adhered to the back of the black cardstock.

The sentiment is from Gina K. Designs Grand Greetings and was stamped with VersaMark Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed with the Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Peony Wishes Birthday Card

I recently saw the Gina K. Designs Peony Wishes stamp set and immediately went and purchased it.  It recently arrived and I decided to watercolor the image on Canson XL Cold Press 140# Watercolor Paper.  It was stamped with VersaMark Onyx Black In, and heat embossed with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder using the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.

Winsor & Newton Artist Grade Watercolor Pans in Chinese White, Permanent Rose, Alizarin Crimson, Winsor Red, Winsor Violet, and Winsor Orange were used to color the image.  Once it was dry Derwent Inktense Pencils 500 Chili Red, 520 Carmine Pink, 740 Mauve, 1510 Beech Green were used to add shadows to the image and blended out with a Dove Blending Pen.

The watercolored panel was then die cut using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  A slightly larger rectangle was cut with a guillotine paper cutter out of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and adhered to the back of the watercolored panel with Sookwang Be Creative Tape.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Birthday Messages and was stamped with VersaMark Ink on a scrap of black cardstock and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  It was adhered to the bottom of the focal image using 3M ½” Foam Tape.

Happy Birthday to You

For this card a panel of Neena Solar White 80# Cardstock was ink blended using Distress Oxide Inks Fossilized Amber, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean, and Peacock Feathers.  I used a Marvy Embossing Heat Tool to help the ink completely dry before attempting to add the white embossing powder.

I started by stamping the angled hash striped border to the bottom third of the card from Mama Elephant’s Basic Borders Stamp with Versa Mark Ink.  I then stamped the sentiment from Gina K. Designs Grand Greetings with VersaMark Ink and then heat set it with Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder. I felt like there was too much space between the striped border and the sentiment, so I pulled out Simon Says Stamp’s Jumbo Stripes stamp set and used the three lines border stamp, stamping it with Versa Mark Ink just below the sentiment and again below the striped border with Versa Mark Ink and heat set it with the white embossing powder. I like this much better, but I felt there was too much empty space at the top of the card, so I pulled out the balloon from the Clearly Besotted It’s Your Birthday stamp set and stamped it three times in the upper right of the card with VersaMark Ink and heat set it with the white embossing powder and felt like it finished the card.

I really like how the white embossing stands out on the ink blended background.  I die cut the ink blended panel using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller and adhered to the back.  A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image panel was adhered to the front using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Balloon Bouquet Hooray It’s Your Birthday

I have seen a card made by Laura Bassen where she used watercolor paper to add color behind each of the balloons in the Simon Says Stamp Balloon Bouquet.  I have recreated that card in the past.  This time I wanted to try using Oxide Inks and sponge daubers to add color to the balloons.

I cut a rectangle of Neena Solar White 80# White Cardstock using the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  I then die cut the balloons from the same cardstock four times and adhered them together using Elmer’s Glue Craft Adhesive Spray.  I then would hold the balloon bouquet over the die cut rectangle to determine where to add the ink.

I used the same ink and daubers on a scrap of white cardstock to create a rainbow strip of color that I then used to die cut the Mama elephant Hooray Script Die from.  I cut an additional three word dies from white cardstock and adhered them together with the spray adhesive.  The secondary sentiment from Gina K. Designs Birthday Greetings was stamped on a scrap of black cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Darice Sticky Back Foam Sheet was cut 1/8” smaller than the stitched rectangle and adhered to the back.  The balloon bouquet and the sentiment cutout were adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the secondary sentiment was adhered using 3M ½” Foam Tape.  The focal image was then adhered to the card front using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Make a Wish By the Sea

There is something about water that is so calm and soothing to the soul.  I hadn’t used this image from Gina K. Designs By the Sea before and thought it would make a simple masculine birthday card.  I stamped the image with Distress Antique Linen Ink on Canson XL 140# Watercolor Cardstock.  This allows for no-line watercoloring and with a simple image like this one it isn’t too difficult to accomplish.

Using a watercolor brush pen the image was color with Brushed Corduory, Pumice Stone, Broken China, and Mustard Seed Distress Inks.  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter Sentimental Birthday and was stamped with Altenew Dusk Ink.  Once the image was completely dry it was run through the Big Shot with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  To accent the blue in the image and sentiment a rectangle of dark aqua blue was cut 1/8” larger and adhered to the back with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs Ivory Cardstock.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back of the focal image and then it was adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.
