Autumn Leaves Hello II

For this second card I changed the orientation to a side fold card made from Simon Says Stamp Dark Chocolate cardstock.  I once again pulled some scrap fall colors and die cut the leaves and inked the edges with Distress Ink, colors used are listed below. I die cut a rectangle from Lawn Fawn Fall Plaid Collection with Simon Says Bundle of Stitched Shapes and blended the edges with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and applied directly to the cardbase with Tombo Adhesive Dot Runner.

I cut the Hero Arts Hello die three times, one from dark chocolate, again with yellow and the last from gold glitter cardstock.  I glued them together with Elmer’s Glue Spray Adhesive and offset them just a little so all the colors could be seen..

I arranged the leaves how I liked them and glued the larger brown leaf in the back directly to the plaid rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The rest were adhered using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  For a final touch I added three of the Little B Acorn Stickers from Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit of the Month, and red sequins I had in my stash.  The Rusty Hinge ink was darker than I wanted and to add some additional sparkle I added Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen to the plaid rectangle and the card was done.

Autumn Leaves Hello

It was time to create some more welcome/hello cards for the new people in our ward at church.  This time I wanted to make them fall cards and so I pulled some leaf dies that I hand: Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves and Stampendous Leaf.

Like all papercrafters we have a lot of leftover paper.  I pulled some fall colors and die cut the leaves.  To provide some dimension I blended the edges with Distress Ink, colors used are listed below. I die cut a rectangle from Lawn Fawn Fall Plaid Collection with Simon Says Bundle of Stitched Shapes and blended the edges with Fossilized Amber Distress Ink.  I applied it directly to a top folding A2 cardbase made from craft cardstock with Tombo Adhesive Dot Runner.

I cut the Hero Arts Hello die three times from the same brown cardstock used for the leaves and inked the edges with Distress Rusty Hinge ink.  I glued them together with the Sakura Glue Pen.

I arranged the leaves how I liked them and glued a couple of the larger leaves in the back directly to the plaid rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The rest were adhered using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  For a final touch I added three of the Little B Acorn Stickers from Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit of the Month, and Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins.

MASCULINE PATTERNED PAPER HELLO

I wanted to create a masculine hello card and found this paper in the Craft Smith Indigo Gold Paper Pack.  All that was needed was to run it through the Big Shot with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes, add some Darice Adhesive Fun Foam to the back and attach it to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, and the card was done.  How easy it that!

MASCULINE HELLO

I’ve mentioned before that I create welcome cards for people who move into my church.  Well this last month there were several single guys that I needed to make cards for.  I always find it challenging to make masculine cards.  In my stash of cardstock I found this beautiful paper from the Craft Smith Indigo Gold Paper pack.  The following three cards were made from this paper.

00253wI cut the patterned paper with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes, but I it through a second time to make it narrower.  This allowed room for a strip of mirror gold cardstock on the left, which was cut with the same die to have the stitching on the edges.  The strip of gold mirror cardstock was adhered directly to a top folding cardbase, made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, cut to 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”.  The diagonal striped paper was adhered using some Creative Hands Peel and Stick Foam Sheets, cut just smaller than the panel, with Tombo Mono Multi Glue added to the back.  The sentiment was from the Hero Arts Hello stamp set and was cut from gold mirror cardstock and an additional three more times out of navy cardstock.  Each were glued together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then adhered to the bottom right of the card, and the third card was done.

  • Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes (cut twice to make narrower)
  • Creative Hands Peel and Stick Foam Sheets

00251wThis card was very simple, I cut the gold and navy cardstock with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  I then cut a 1 ½” strip of cardstock from matching navy cardstock from the paper pack and stamped the welcome from Hero Arts Little One with VersaMark Ink and embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The rectangle was adhered with 3M ½” Foam Tape to a Gina K. Design 120# White Cardstock, cut to 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½” and the card was done.

00252wThis last card was made from the same paper pack.  I cut the patterned paper with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  This time I hand cut some of the hexagon and added dimension with 3M ½” Foam Tape.  I used a VersaMark Marker Pen to add circles to the center of the hand cut hexagons and added Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  I randomly placed them on the patterned paper using 3M ½” Foam Tape.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts Hello and cut from gold mirror cardstock and again three more times out of white cardstock.  Each hello was glued together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then adhered to the bottom right of the card and the second card was done.

HELLO BOUQUET

This card was created using Silhouette Cameo Outline Cutouts for Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Floral Greetings.  The large flower and leaves were colored with Copic Markers Y06, Y19, Y38 / G43, G94.  The smaller flowers were stamped with the Altenew inks listed below.

00249
The cardbase is from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, cut to 4 ¼” x 11” and scored at 5 ½”.  It was then run through the Sizzix Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder.  To frame the flowers a circle was cut from the same cardstock with a Spellbinders Large Circle die, and a yellow scalloped circle was also cut from Spellbinder Large Scalloped Circle die.  The two circle dies were adhered together using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The flowers were arranged to determine the desired placement for the sentiment, which is from the Inky Antics Rose stamp set.  Before stamping the sentiment the flower arrangement was removed using Press and Seal, as shown in a video from Jennifer McGuire.  This keeps the flowers in the arrangement you had determined, rather than taking a photo and having to arrange them again.  The sentiment was stamped with Hero Hues Black.  The flower arrangement was turned over and Tombo Mono Multi Glue was added to the flowers at the back and then adhered to the circle dies.  A few of the top flowers were some given added dimension with 3M ½” Foam Tape.  Some of the flowers were then embellished with gold rhinestones.  The yellow scalloped circle was placed on the cardbase with 3M ½” Foam Tape and the card was done.

Hello Beautiful

I love creating birthday cards for family.  I think about their favorite colors and try to make sure that the card is something they know was made just for them.  This card was created for my sister-in-law Hilda.  She is a special lady and I wanted her card to be special for her.  I used My Favorite Things Mini Modern Blooms and their matching dies to create her card.

Hello Beautiful

Altenew inks make it so easy to be successful with multi-layered images. For these flowers I used the following inks: Deep Iris, Midnight Violet, Lavender Field, Blush, Cotton Candy, Coral Berry, Mango Smoothie, Warm Sunshin, Dark Chocolate, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glade, and Evergreen.

I die cut a panel of Gina K. Designs 120# white cardstock with the largest Lawn Fawns Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles, which adds a lovely detail the edges of the panel.  I laid out the flowers on the panel until I liked the way they were arranged.  This allowed me to determine where I wanted the sentiment to be stamped, which is from Simon Says Stamp Hello Beautiful.  I then glued some of the flowers and leaves to the panel, adhered others with one layer of 3M 1/2″ foam tape, and the last with two layers of foam tape, giving dimension to the bouquet of flowers.

The purple cardstock for the card came from my stock of colored paper.  I cut it to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored it at 4 1/4″.  I then glued the panel directly to the card base with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  I cut another stitched panel and adhered it to the inside of the card with Elmer’s Glue Runner, added a small flower and leaf to the left corner and stamped the greeting “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, I HOPE YOUR DAY IS FABULOUS” from Papertrey Ink Boutique Borders Birthday stamp set.  I scattered a few sequins from Pretty Pink Posh Enchanted Garden and the card was finished.

A Warm Welcome

A couple of weeks ago we had three families move into our congregation at church. Our congregations are organized into wards, which are a geographic area that determines who attends at what times.  This ensures that the congregations don’t get so big people won’t be able to know one another and get lost in the crowd. But even with smaller congregations it’s hard to move and not know anyone.  I decided that since I love making cards I would start making welcome cards for the new families. Here are the three cards that I made. I must have been in a pink mood, because all of them have pink flowers.

CARD #1 was made with Altenew’s Peony Bouquet and stamped with Altenew Ink.  This image has multiple layers. I tried stamping the outline area first, but after some trial and error I found I got a better image when I started with the solid base.  For the flowers, layer 1 was stamped with Blush, layer 2 with Rouge, layer 3 with Crimson, and the outline with Hero Hues Black. The leaves were stamped with Frayed Leaf for layer 1 and Forest Glades for layer 2.

I die cut a panel of Gina K. Design 120# white cardstock  using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles and adhered one of the full blooms, the bud, and leaves with Elmer’s Dot Runner adhesive.  The final bloom was adhered with 3M 1/2″ foam tape to give added dimension.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Little One and was stamped with my MISTI in Hero Hues Black. This allowed me to stamp a few times to get a crisp black.  I adhered the panel to a 120# Gina K. Design white card base with 3M 1/2″ foam tape, scattered a few sequins from Pretty Pink Posh Sweetheart collection, added a bloom to the inside left corner and the card was done.

Welcome1

CARD #2 was made with Penny Black’s Centerpiece and stamped in VersaMark ink on 140# Cold Press Strathmore Watercolor Paper.  Before stamping I prepped the area with my embossing buddy so the embossing powder would only cling to the stamped image.  I used Ranger’s Platinum Embossing Powder, which gives an elegant feel to the card.  I watercolored the image by wetting down individual flowers and dropping the color into the area, letting the color move on its own and concentrating the darker color where there would be shadows.  I used the following Distress Inks: Spun Sugar, Tattered Rose, Picked Raspberry, Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves, Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint, Fossilized Amber, Antique Linen, and Tumbled Glass.

I die cut the watercolor image using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Little One and was stamped with VersaMark and embossed with Ranger Platinum embossing powder. I adhered the panel to a 120# Gina K. Design white card base with 3M 1/2″ foam tape.  You can see a hint of the inside of the card.  I always stamp the image in a light ink or add a small die cut image similar to what is on the front of the card.   Sometimes I add another sentiment, but not always.  I do something similar for the envelopes.  Once the inside was stamped the card was done.

CARD #3 was made with Penny Black’s Blooming Garden. I used the poppy flower image, stamped it with VersaMark ink on 140# Cold Press Strathmore Watercolor Paper, after I prepped the area with my embossing buddy so the embossing powder would only cling to the stamped image.  I used Ranger’s Platinum embossing powder and set it with my heat tool.

I watercolored the image by wetting down individual flower petals and dropping the color into the water, letting it move on its own.  I used Winsor and Newton Permanent Rose and Sap Green.  The background was a blend of Cerulean Blue and Turquoise Light, watered down so that it was a very light wash.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Beautiful Baby, stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger’s Platinum Embossing Powder.

I die cut the image using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles and adhered the panel to a 120# Gina K. Design white card base with 3M 1/2″ foam tape, stamped the image on the inside of the card with Altenew Rouge ink and the card was done.
