Framescape Birthday Greetings

This is the second card I made with Gina K. Designs Framescape Winter Trees.  I really like the peaceful mountain lake scene.  I used several colors of Memento Inks to stamp the images using ink cubes, which allows for more precise placement of the ink.  Colors used were Tuxedo Black; Olive Grove, Rich Coca, Toffee Crunch.  Copic Markers were used to enhance the stamped images (colors listed below).

I die cut a small circle from a full sticky back post-it.  I used the negative post-it to ink blend the sun rising from the horizon with Distress Inks Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey.  I then covered the sun with the positive die cut and ink blended the sky with Tumbled Glass and Broken China.

The focal image was die cut using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  To draw the eye into the scene Gina K. Designs Dark Chocolate Cardstock was cut 1/8” larger than the focal image rectangle and adhered to the back with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  A rectangle of Darice Sticky Back Foam was die cut with the same rectangle die and adhered to the back of the focal image.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Yummy Treats and was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink.  A side folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Kraft Cardstock.  The focal image was adhered to the font with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Hero Arts Birthday Balloons

I recently purchased Hero Arts Birthday Balloon.  I thought it would make great masculine cards.  For this card I decided to stamp it three times in rainbow colors using Altenew inks onto Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock.  I planned to cut it with the Silhouette using the PixScan Mat, but what I found was that it doesn’t work without a black outline and so I scanned it instead and brought it in as a .jpg image and then cut out the balloons.  I used the balloon strings from Lawn Fawn Party Balloons and ink blended them to match the balloons.  Using a  scrap of white cardstock and ink blended it with the same Altenew Inks using sponge daubers and then die cut one of the words for the WPlus9 Happy Trio Die.

To assemble the card I found some matching green plaid paper in the Perfectly Plaid Rainbow 6 x 6 Paper Pad and die cut it with the Rectangle from Simon Says Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  Another rectangle was die cut from white cardstock using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  The two rectangles were adhered together with the Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive and Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut with the Lawn Fawn rectangle and adhered to the back.  It was then adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.

The balloons and word die were placed on the card front to determine where to stamp the secondary greeting from Winnie & Walter Sentiment Birthday.  Two of the balloons and strings were adhered to the card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the third had 3M ½” Foam Tape added to the back for dimension.  Foam Tape was added to the back of the die cut word and adhered to the card front as the card was done.

Brush Stroke Birthday Messages I, II, III

This card was inspired by a card by Kristina Werner.  I made three separate cards with different color palettes.  I used two of the stamps from Simon Says Stamp Brush Stroke Messages used Altenew Inks to stamp and stack them in a horizontal column.  For each color used it was stamped full strength and again as second generation stamping for a lighter hue.

The sentiment was stamped on the darkest stroke.  Once the stamping was complete the panel was die cut using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  A complimentary rectangle was cut from scrap cardstock 1/8” larger and adhered to the back with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut with the same rectangle die and adhered to the back of the focal image panel.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the  focal image was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

I really like the graphic element to this card and create it another two time in different color palettes.

Shaped Birthday Cake with Buttercream Frosting

I die cut this Silhouette Rivka Wilkins Cake image with the Cameo, but I misjudged the size and it was too big to put on a cardbase, so I decided to make a cake shaped card.  I cut it a second time and scored the top ½” from the top and put ½” Sookwang Be Creative Tape above the score line and then adhered the two together.

The cake, frosting, cherry, and berries were colored with Copic Markers and adhered to the cake base with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Nuvo Crystal Drops Red Berry were used to add dimension to the berries on the cake.

The sentiment from Hero Arts Birthday Messages were stamped on the frosting with Gina K. Designs Dark Chocolate Ink and the card was done.

My Favorite Things Stitched Flowers Birthday Card

When I cut the woodgrain banner rectangle from the Echo Park Lori White The Story of Fall it had a cute flower corner that was left behind.  It was just a pretty, colorful paper that I just had to use it.

So, I went through my flower dies and pulled out the My Favorite Things Stitched Flowers die.  I then went through my scraps of solid colored cardstock and found some that matched the colors on the patterned paper.  I found some yellow cardstock and cut it 1/8” larger than the woodgrain paper and adhered to the two together using Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  I then arranged the flower around the corner left behind in the patterned paper and adhered them to the panel using Ranger Multi Medium Matte and 3M ½” Foam Tape.

For a sentiment I pulled out the Mama Elephant Birthday Script Die and cut it once from the red cardstock and twice more from yellow cardstock and adhered them together using Elmer’s Glue Craft Adhesive Spray.  It was then glued to the open yellow rectangle of the card front.  The word “HAPPY” is from Hero Arts Birthday Messages and was stamped on a scrap of red cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossing using Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder.  A fishtail was added to the right and then it was adhered just above the “birthday” die cut with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

I felt like the white on the card was too stark and so I use Copic Marker E50 Egg Shell to color everything that was white on the card.

A rectangle of Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller than the focal image and adhered to the back.  A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock and the focal image was adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Peony Wishes Birthday Card

I recently saw the Gina K. Designs Peony Wishes stamp set and immediately went and purchased it.  It recently arrived and I decided to watercolor the image on Canson XL Cold Press 140# Watercolor Paper.  It was stamped with VersaMark Onyx Black In, and heat embossed with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder using the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.

Winsor & Newton Artist Grade Watercolor Pans in Chinese White, Permanent Rose, Alizarin Crimson, Winsor Red, Winsor Violet, and Winsor Orange were used to color the image.  Once it was dry Derwent Inktense Pencils 500 Chili Red, 520 Carmine Pink, 740 Mauve, 1510 Beech Green were used to add shadows to the image and blended out with a Dove Blending Pen.

The watercolored panel was then die cut using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  A slightly larger rectangle was cut with a guillotine paper cutter out of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and adhered to the back of the watercolored panel with Sookwang Be Creative Tape.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Birthday Messages and was stamped with VersaMark Ink on a scrap of black cardstock and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  It was adhered to the bottom of the focal image using 3M ½” Foam Tape.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image panel was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  As a final embellishment Pretty Pink Posh Sugar Plum Mix and Sweetheart Mix, and Neat & Tangled Pink Lemonade were adhered with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

Clearly Besotted On Your Day Happy Birthday

This is another new flower stamp from Clearly Besotted entitled On Your Day.  I stamped it on Canson XL Cold Press 140# Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts Birthday Messages and was stamped and embossed in the same manner.

Winsor & Newton Artist Grade Watercolor pans were used to color the image.  Colors used were: Winsor Violet, Sap Green, Olive Green, Cerulean Blue, Turquoise Light.  I let everything thoroughly dry and then added some shadows with a fine detail watercolor brush.

Flower Bouquet It’s Your Birthday: Treat Yourself

I love stamp sets that have a cluster of three flowers and leaves.  When I saw the new Clearly Besotted Happily Ever After stamp set I knew it would make beautiful cards.

I began by stamping the image on Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Onyx Black Ink and then heat embossed it with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool and Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  This makes watercoloring so easy since it creates little wells that will keep the watercolor contained into one area as you work.

To color the image I used Winsor & Newton Artist Grade Watercolors in Winsor Yellow, Winsor Orange, Winsor Red, Olive Green, and Permanent Sap Green, applied with a watercolor pen.  Once the watercoloring was dry I added shadows to the petals and leaves with Derwent Inktense Pencils 0210 Cadmium Yellow, 0250 Cadmium Orange, 0320 Scarlet Pink, 1560 Hooker’s Green, Cerulean Blue, Turquoise Light and blended them out with a Dove Blending Pen.

Using the MISTI I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts Birthday Messages with VersaMark Onyx Black Ink and heat set it with the Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  The focal image was then run through the Big Shot with the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock was cut 1/8” larger and adhered to the back using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then to the card front with the same glue.

Party Circle Die: Enjoy Your Day

The Distress Oxide Ink blended background really makes the white die cut sentiment of this card pop.

I ink blended a panel of Neena Solar White 80# Cardstock with Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks.  Using my guillotine cutter it was cut down 4 1/8” to 5 3/8” and Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut to 4 x 5 ¼” and applied to the back.

Simon Says Stamp Large Party Circle Die was cut out of the same cardstock.  A circle was cut from some scrap acetate using Simon Says Stamp Nested Circle Die and adhered to the back of the sentiment die with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  Thin strips of 3M ½” Foam Tape were doubled up and adhered to the back of the “Party” die cut.  If you remove the backer tape you can curve the foam tape around the circle.  Neat & Tangled Starry Night Sequins and Martha Stewart Blueberry Slush, Turquoise, and Wintermint Confetti were added to front of the cardbase and then the “Party” shaker well was adhered to the top of the ink blended rectangle.

A secondary sentiment from Hero Arts Birthday Messages was stamped below the shaker with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The ink blended panel was adhered to the front using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Hero Arts Floral Filigree Stencil Background Hello

For this card I decided to pull out one of my stencils, Hero Arts Floral Filigree 2, and use ink daubers to add color to the image.  In order to ensure that the colors didn’t bleed into other areas of the stencil Post-it Tape was used to mask off the areas.  Once it was dry it was run through the Big Shot with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle.

Since this is a clean and simple card and so I decided to use a Paper Smooches Quote Tag Hello word die cut from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock, it was also used to add a mat behind the focal image.  To add dimension Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut with the same rectangle die and adhered to the back of the focal image.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

I like the way it turned out.
