Happy Birthday Aunt Leora

My Aunt Leora turned 100 years old the end of November.  She is an amazing lady, still active, her mind is sharp, and she says she has no aches or pain.  Lucky Aunt Leora!  Her favorite color is red and so I made the following card to celebrate her special day.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to print and cut the Power Poppy Camellia digital stamp  on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock.  I colored the image with the Copic marker listed below.  I cut a panel of Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with the Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes and the Big Shot with the Cricut Oxford Embossing Folder to add dimension and interest to the card.  I added some Darice Adhesive Fun Foam to the back and adhered it to a top folding A2 card made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and adhered the panel with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts Yummy Treats and was stamped with VersaMark Ink on Gina K. Designs Black 120# Cardstock and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.  It was adhered to the front of the card with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

Autumn Leaves Welcome

This is the last fall leaf card that I made this week.  This time I created a top folding A2 card from some dark green cardstock I had in my stash.  I decided to have a two toned background for the front of the card and so I die cut a green rectangle with Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  00287w

For the sentiment I took a strip of the light orange cardstock and ink blended the edges with Rusty Hinge.  I ensured it was completely dry before stamping “welcome” from Hero Arts Little One in Simon Says Stamp Clear ink and embossing it with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  To adhere the sentiment to the green rectangle I used 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  It needed a little something to separate the two so I pulled out some gold glitter cardstock and cut a thin strip and tucked it behind the sentiment, gluing it down with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

I cut the leaves and ink blended the edges with Distress Ink, colors used are listed below.  I arranged the leaves how I liked them and adhered them all using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  For a final touch I added a couple of the Little B Acorn Stickers from Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit of the Month, and fall colored sequins I had in my stash.

I decided to use some gold glitter cardstock behind the green rectangle and cut it 1/8″ larger.  Because of the rough texture of glitter cardstock I adhered the two together using Be Creative Tape and then adhered the entire panel to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Autumn Leaves Hello II

For this second card I changed the orientation to a side fold card made from Simon Says Stamp Dark Chocolate cardstock.  I once again pulled some scrap fall colors and die cut the leaves and inked the edges with Distress Ink, colors used are listed below. I die cut a rectangle from Lawn Fawn Fall Plaid Collection with Simon Says Bundle of Stitched Shapes and blended the edges with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink and applied directly to the cardbase with Tombo Adhesive Dot Runner.

I cut the Hero Arts Hello die three times, one from dark chocolate, again with yellow and the last from gold glitter cardstock.  I glued them together with Elmer’s Glue Spray Adhesive and offset them just a little so all the colors could be seen..

I arranged the leaves how I liked them and glued the larger brown leaf in the back directly to the plaid rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The rest were adhered using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  For a final touch I added three of the Little B Acorn Stickers from Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit of the Month, and red sequins I had in my stash.  The Rusty Hinge ink was darker than I wanted and to add some additional sparkle I added Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen to the plaid rectangle and the card was done.

Autumn Leaves Hello

It was time to create some more welcome/hello cards for the new people in our ward at church.  This time I wanted to make them fall cards and so I pulled some leaf dies that I hand: Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves and Stampendous Leaf.

00286w

Like all papercrafters we have a lot of leftover paper.  I pulled some fall colors and die cut the leaves.  To provide some dimension I blended the edges with Distress Ink, colors used are listed below. I die cut a rectangle from Lawn Fawn Fall Plaid Collection with Simon Says Bundle of Stitched Shapes and blended the edges with Fossilized Amber Distress Ink.  I applied it directly to a top folding A2 cardbase made from craft cardstock with Tombo Adhesive Dot Runner.

I cut the Hero Arts Hello die three times from the same brown cardstock used for the leaves and inked the edges with Distress Rusty Hinge ink.  I glued them together with the Sakura Glue Pen.

I arranged the leaves how I liked them and glued a couple of the larger leaves in the back directly to the plaid rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The rest were adhered using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  For a final touch I added three of the Little B Acorn Stickers from Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit of the Month, and Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins.

  • Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves die
  • Stampendous Leaf die
  • Distress Ink: Fired Brick, Fossilized Amber, Forest Moss, Rusty Hinge, Gathered Twigs

Blessed is the Season Christmas Card

This is the second Christmas card I created.  It too is a very simple card and would be easy to mass produce.  I cut a rectangle from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  I placed the rectangle in my MISTI and stamped the trees from Gina K. Designs Blessed is the Season with VersaMark Ink.  The image was covered with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder and heat set with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts Very Merry Christmas stamp set and was stamped and embossed in the same manner.

00283wNext a rectangle from Paper Accents Mirror Gold Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger than the die cut rectangle and both were adhered with the Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.  A rectangle of Darice White Adhesive Fun Foam was cut with the SSS Stitched Rectangle die and adhered to the back of the focal image, then it was adhered to a top folding A2 card from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The white and gold are beautiful.

Sending You Prayers

It’s good to have some sympathy cards on hand for when they are needed. This card was made by cutting outline images to match Simon Says Stamp Spring Flowers from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with the Silhouette Cameo.  I didn’t want to have harsh black lines for the flowers so I used Altenew Inks to stamp the images onto the cutout and then colored them with Copic Markers. Colors used for both are listed below.

00277w

A top folding card was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″.  A rectangle of the same paper was cut using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Frames.  Darice Adhesive White Fun Foam was cut just smaller than the rectangle and adhered to the back and then adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Blue.

The flowers were glued to the flower stems with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and arranged on the stitched rectangle.  The pink flower in the back and the stems were glued directly to the rectangle, with the exception of the stem at the front, which was adhered using thin strips of 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  Foam tape was also added to the back of blue flower and double foam tape was added to the back of the purple flower.  For the flowers that had centers Queen and Company Rock Candy Yellow Rhinestones were added.

The Hero Arts Prayers die was cut three times from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and glued together with Ranger Multi Medium Matte. Before attaching the secondary sentiment “Sending You” was stamped with Hero Hues Black Ink.  The prayers die cut was adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  For a little added shine Wink of Stella Clear was added to all the flowers and the card was done.

Dahlias Happy Birthday

This is another card using a Silhouette Cameo outline of an image, which I planned to to adhered to a yellow cardbase, but decided that I would like it better with white border around a yellow rectangle.

00276w

Since the image would be colored with Copic Markers it was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Marker colors used are listed below.  My Favorite Things Postage Stamp STAX die was cut from 80# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock and then run through the Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Divine Swirls Embossing Folder.

A rectangle of Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was cut just smaller than the postage stamp die cut and adhered to the back.  The rectangle of yellow cardstock from my stash was cut to 5 1/4″ x 4″ and adhered to a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the flower focal image and adhered to the top of the postage stamp rectangle.  Hero Arts Happy Stamp and Cut die was cut three times from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and glued together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and adhered to the bottom of the postage stamp rectangle.  The word “birthday” from the same stamp set was stamped to the bottom right corner of the yellow rectangle with Hero Hues Black ink.  The focal image was glued to the yellow rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Mums Bouquet Happy Birthday

This is another card made by stamping an image to a Silhouette Cameo outline of a WPlus9 Beautiful Bouquet image.  This time I used the Mums stamp set.  Since I was going to use Copic Markers to color the image it was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. 00278w A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Next a yellow frame was cut using the Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Rectangle Die.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was cut in thirds and adhered to the back of the frame to add dimension.  When I went to apply the frame to the cardbase I found that this frame leaves are larger top and bottom border to an A2 cardbase.  I like to have my cards evenly spaced and so 1/4″ was cut from the length of the front and back of the card so that the overall size was 4 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ scored at 5 1/4″.

The sentiment was stamped with Hero Hues Black ink and is from Hero Arts Yummy Treats stamp set.  Foam tape was added to the back of the flower image and applied to the inside of the frame and the card was done.

Sending Prayers

This card was inspired one I had seen on the Clearly Besotted web site for their Happy Everything stamp, however, when I went to get the url to reference it, it was no longer there.  I assume the stamp has been retired since it was no longer available for purchase.  I am going ahead with posting it because a similar image is available in their Beautiful Friend stamp set.

00175

I stamped the image on Canson 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Ink and embossed it with Recollections Clear embossing powder.  I heat set it with my Marvy Embossing Heat Tool and colored the image with the following Distress Inks: Bundled Sage, Crushed Olive, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Fossilized Amber.

I sprayed some Canson 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with Water prior to embossing it with the Darice Wood Embossing Folder.  This ensures that the paper will not crack and tear when embossed.  I set it aside to dry.

Pretty Patterned Paper Cards

Every two months we have an evening meeting for the women in our church.  This month our theme is “Scatter Sunshine.”  One of the activities we will be doing is making handmade cards that can be given to someone we know who needs a pick-me-up.  Since there are a lot of the women who have never made a handmade card we wanted to be sure some of the cards would be less intimidating, so we have several samples made with patterned paper, stamping a sentiment, and adding a little embellishment.

I thought it would be fun to share some pretty cards that can be made with pattern papers we have in our personal stash of supplies.

00177b

For this card the flower and leaves were stamped in VersaMark ink from Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Floral Greetings and embossed with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder.  A finger sponge dauber was used to color the center of the flower with Distress Spun Sugar and the leaves with Distress Peeled Paint.  For the Martha Steward Butterfly Punch and the Simon Says Stamp Faith die a piece of scrap paper was covered with VersaMark Ink and Ranger Gold Embossing Powder before die cutting/punching.  This way they perfectly match the flower and leaves. The word “with” is from Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold and Comfort.

00178a

This paper had the same loopy flowers as Simon Says Stamp Heart of Roses die.  I used some red cardstock from my stash to die cut the heart, along with Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Love.  The patterned paper was run through the Sizzix Big shot with the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables and then backed with some red card stock, which was cut 1/8″ larger.  This added a pop of color to the panel and tied in the heart and sentiment.  The “sending you” sentiment was stamped with Hero Hues Black from the same stamp set.  The patterned paper panel was adhered to the card base with some Fun Foam to add dimension.

00183

For this card red flowers were die cut from Paper Smooches Pocket Wise die set.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Look for the Miracles stamp set and was stamped with VersaMark Ink and embossed with Recollections Snow Embossing Powder.  The center of the flowers are Doodlebug Designs Enamel Sprinkles.  The patterned paper was run through the Sizzix Big Shot with Simon Says Stamp Bundles of Stitched Shapes and then attached to a card base with Fun Foam to add some dimension.

00184

This card only has some Doodlebug Designs Enamel Sprinkles for the center of the flowers and a sentiment stamped in Hero Hues Black ink from Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Floral Greetings.  The paper has a rough surface, so I used the MISTI so the sentiment could be stamped several times.  The patterned paper was run through the Sizzix Big Shot with Simon Says Stamp Bundles of Stitched Shapes and then attached to a card base with Fun Foam to add some dimension.

Hope you have fun using some of your pretty patterned paper lying around your craft room.
