TLC687 Black Ice Sea Shells Still Life Birthday Card

This is the second card I made for the Splitcoaststampers.com Try and New Technique Challenge called Black Ice.  I had to lighten the card quite a bit to be able to see the details in the photograph, but it is stunning in real life.

I started with some Paper Accents Silver Mirror Cardstock and die cut it using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX die.  Next I lightly ran StazOn Jet Black Ink across the surface to give it a distressed look. I then stamped the image from Inkadinkado’s Sea Shells Still Life and the sentiment from Papertrey Ink’s Stylish Sentiments: Birthday with the same black ink.

It takes a little bit of time for this ink to dry, so be sure and wait for it be completely set before taking VersaMark Ink and running it very lightly across the surface and then heat setting it with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder. This is what gives it the black ice look. It is really stunning.

I mounted the focal image on a larger rectangle of dark gray cardstock which was also distressed with StazOn Ink.  Darice Sticky Back Foam 1/8″ smaller than the focal image was added to the back and then adhered with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive to a side folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs Base Weight Onyx Black Cardstock and the card was done.

Sea Shells Still Life Happy Birthday

The beach is a relaxing, peaceful place to be.  I’ve never found such beautiful shells as show in Inkadinkado’s Sea Shells Still Life, but it makes a lovely, more masculine in nature birthday card.

I began by stamping the image on Gina K. Designs 80# Ivory Cardstock with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink.  I used the MISTI so that I could stamp multiple times to get a crisp image.  Next I ink blended the background using Ranger’s Mini Ink Blending Tool using Distress Ink: Fozzilized Amber, Brushed Cordurory, Tumbled Glass, and Broken China.  To intensify the colors of the shells I used Copic Markers: R21, R22, R12; E30, E31, E33; E33, E35, E55; E47, E57, E59; BG000, BG01, BG02; G40, G43.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Stylish Sentiments: Birthday and was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink.

I die cut the focal image with the second largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stac

kable Rectangles and added Darice Sticky Back Foam to the back of the panel.  An A2 side folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Kraft Cardstock, but when I placed the focal image on the cardbase everything blended together.  To help the focal image pop, a rectangle 1/8” larger than the focal image was cut from some blue cardstock I had in my stash.  I liked the look of the card much better and so it was adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then the focal image was adhered on top with the same glue and the card was done.

Finetec Gold Balloons and Present Birthday Card

I recently purchased the Finetec Gold M600 Watercolor Palette and wanted to create a card to try out these new watercolors.  I liked the way it turned out and love these shiny gold watercolors.

I began by stamping the image from Inkadinkado Happy Birthday on Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  I used the MISTI since stamping on the rough surface of watercolor paper requires multiple stampings for a crisp image.

I used all six colors from the Finetec Gold M600 palette to color the image. So that the present wouldn’t appear to be floating in air a table was also created with the same colors.  These are very opaque pigments and so some of the lines of the image were no longer a crisp dark.  I used 05 Pigma Micron Pen to redefine the lines in the image.  Once everything was dry the image was run through the Sizzix Big Shot with the 2nd largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle.  A rectangle 1/8″ larger was cut from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and both were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A second larger rectangle was cut from Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  A 1/8″ larger rectangle was cut from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and they were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The focal image rectangle was placed on top of the larger rectangle to determine where to stamp the sentiment from Inkadinkado Happy Birthday.  Using the MISTI it was stamped several times with Hero Hues India Ink Black to ensure a crisp image.

An A2 Cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock. The larger rectangle was adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back of the focal image rectangle and then it was adhered to the cardbase with the same glue.  I think it turned out to be an elegant clean and simple card.
