Dresden China Birthday Cards

These are the last two cards that I made with the Jillian Vance Dresden China Quilt Die.  This time I decided to stamp my own patterned paper using the Simon Says Stamp Kaleidoscope Leaves Background Die.  One was stamped with Simon Fog Ink and the other with Memento Summer Sky.

These were very easy cards to make.  I stamped the background and then die cut the images using an A2 My Favorite Things Stitched Rectange STAX die.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller and adhered to the back.  I die cut the quilt from colored cardstock that was backed with Be Creative Tape and then removed the backing and adhered it to the card front.  For one of the cards I used a die cut sentiment and for the other I stamped it on the same colored cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.

Dresden China Sew Beautiful to Me

This is the third card that I made with the Jillian Vance Dresden China Die.  This time I decided to give dimension to the quilt block by adding multiple layers of the frame, which made the pieces of the quilt recessed.

This time I decided to make a 4.5″ x 4.5″ card.  The cardbase was made from the patterned paper used for the quilt block.  The die was cut from a scrap of that cardstock that had been backed with Be Creative Tape, and another three time with plain ivory cardstock.  To adhered all the quilt frames together the ivory pieces were sprayed with Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive and then layered together.

A square of Gina K. Designs Layering Weight Ivory Cardstock was cut using the largest Avery Elle Double Pierced Square die.  The sentiment from Jillian Vance’s Sew Special was stamped in the lower left using Altenew Pink Diamond Ink.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller and adhered to the back.  The quilt frames were then adhered to the center of the card and the individual pieces of the quilt were adhered by peeling off the protective backing on the Be Creative Tape and putting them in place.  The rectangle was then adhered to the cardbase using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

Final embellishments were to add a thin silk ribbon bow at the top of the card and adding a white pearl in the center of the quilt and the card was done.

Dresden China Inlaid Quilt Block Hello

This is the second card I made with the Jillian Vance Dresden China Quilt Block.  The inlaid design is my favorite.

For this card I only used two patterned papers.  Be Creative Tape was added to the back of each. A rectangle of Gina K. Designs Layering Weight Cardstock was cut using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX. Be Creative Tape was then added to the back and the quilt block was again, ensuring it was centered in the rectangle towards the top.

Using the Be Creative Tape allows all the die cuts to become stickers and are then easy to assemble in the desired patterned. The stitched rectangle was placed on the front of a top folding A2 Cardbase, made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock, to ensure placed of the ivory quilt frame. The patterned paper quilt pieces were then adhered in the appropriate pattern.

To create the inlaid look Darice Stick Back Foam was added to the back of the rectangle with the opening for the quilt block and carefully adhered in place.

The sentiment was cut from one of the patterned papers using the My Favorite Things Happy Hellos Die and an additional three time from ivory cardstock.  All were stacked and adhered together using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  After placing the sentiment at the bottom of the card it just felt like it needed a little some extra, so a thin strip of the  other patterned paper was added just above, and an even thinner strip was added using the back of that double sided paper.  Love the way it turned out.

Dresden China Inlaid Quilt Block Birthday

I recently purchased the Jillian Vance Dresden China Quilt Block Die.  This die adds a stitched border to both the inside and outside of the due cut.  I love the way it looks when you inlay the quilt pieces.

When making a quilt block card it is best to use very small patterned paper.  I loved the pretty small flowers that were in the BasicGrey Knee High Cat’s Cradle paper and let it be the inspiration for the other papers used.  I added Be Creative Tape to the back of patterned papers I planned to use in the quilt.

The sentiment from Jillian Vance’s Sew Special Stamp Set was stamped with VersaMark Ink on a scrap of the blue cardstock and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  It was then die cut with a My Favorite Things Stitched Fishtail Sentiments Die.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back and it was placed below the focal image.

Loved the way this turned out that I made a Hello card with the same die.

Sorry You’re Feeling Sew Sew

This is another card made with the Gina Marie Quilt Block #8 Die and the Jillian Vance Sew Special Stamp Set.  This time the sentiment used is for a perfect get well card.

In order to make the card you die cut the quilt block from four different patterned papers, backed with Be Creative Tape which allows them to be pieced into the frame.  I cute a square piece of cardstock slightly smaller than the frame and then add the different fabric type cardstock into the block.  Once the quilt is assembled Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back.  The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink in the lower right of a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder with the Marvy Embossing Heat Tool.  An ivory organza bow was died above the sentiment and the card was done.

Memories Are Stitched With Love Quilt Block

Recently I purchased the Jillian Vance Design Sew Special Stamp Set and love the sentiments.  They go perfectly with any quilt die set you may have.  For this card I used the Gina Marie Designs Quilt Block #8.

I had this beautiful floral patterned paper with a back background that I loved and decided to use it as the color inspiration for creating this quilt block.  The most important thing to keep in mind when creating a quilt block card is to use small patterns in the paper selected.

I like to back any papers I am using for a design with Be Creative Tape before die cutting.  They way it is very simple to adhered the different papers into the design.

I think the sentiment used for this card would also make a wonderful sympathy card, since it our memories that we treasure the most after a loved one is gone.  It would also make a great Thinking of You card.  Love the way this turned out.   I will be using this die cut and stamp set a lot.
