Birthday Wishes Katie

I have a young friend from who has a birthday this coming week. Her favorite colors are purple and teal and Katie has beautiful brown hair, so those are the colors I used on this cute image from La-La Land Crafts.

This is a digital image. I printed the girl and garden bench onto Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock using a laser printer. I find that toner ink does not smear when using Copic Markers.

I colored the images with Copic Markers. I have a garden bench that is wood and iron, so that was the inspiration in coloring this garden bench. I then used the Silhouette PIXScan Mat to cutout the images. So much faster and smoother lines than fussy cutting. The girl was adhered to the bench with liquid glue.

I cut a panel of cardstock with a stitched rectangle ink blended the top two-thirds of the card with blue ink for a sky. Grass was die cut using Taylored Expressions Wispy Grass Die. It is a narrow strip of grass and I wanted another layer of taller grass so I did partial die cutting. The smaller grass color was deepened with Copic Markers and then adhered to the taller grass with liquid glue and then adhered over the sky blended background panel. I couple of clouds were cut from white cardstock with the Avery Elle Pierced Clouds die. A pale blue Copic Markers was used in the corners of the clouds. The largest cloud was adhered to the sky with liquid glue and the smaller cloud with sticky back foam. The panel was then adhered to a side folding cardbase.

The girl and bench were placed on the panel to determine where to stamp the sentiment with Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers. Darice Thin Strip Foam Tape was added to the back of the bench and 3M foam tape was added to the back of the girl. The release paper was removed and the images where adhered to the front of the card.

The last embellishment was to add crystal stickles to the clouds and heart. A gold metallic pen was added to the centers of the flowers on her shoes and the card was done.

Happy Heart Birthday Paige

I have a young friend from church whose birthday is coming up. Her favorite color is turquoise. I used this cute girl image from La-La Land Crafts and colored her with Copic Markers. I’m not very good at fussy cutting, so once the coloring was complete I used the Silhouette PIXScan Mat to cut her out.

I cut a panel of white cardstock using the Memory Box Matinee Die. I love the corners of this rectangle. I stamped the sentiment in the bottom center of the panel with turquoise ink before running it through the Big Shot with the Cuttlebug Polka Dots Embossing Folder. You always want to stamp before embossing so you get a crisp stamped sentiment.

I cut a larger matinee rectangle from teal cardstock and adhered the polka dot rectangle on top with liquid glue. I find liquid glue works best to adhere embossed panels. The rectangles were then adhered to a top folding cardbase.

Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the focal image. A little gray Copic Marker was added underneath where the feet were so she didn’t look like she was floating on the page. The release paper was removed from the foam tape and the image was adhered to the cardfront.

The final embellishments were to add polka dots to the girl’s top with a white gel pen and crystal stickles were added to the heart.

Heart Balloon for Cora

My young friend Cora turns 15 this month. Her favorite color is blue and so that is what I used to color un this cute image from La-La Land Crafts. This is a digital image, so I printed it using a laser jet printer, which ensures the lines do not bleed when colored with alcohol markers.

Once the coloring was complete it was cut down with a scalloped rectangle. Polka dots were added to the shirt using a white gel pen. Crystal Stickles were added to the heart balloon.

The sentiment was stamped with blue ink in the lower left of the card.

I found a great blue chevron patterned paper that I cut down with a stitched rectangle and adhered to a top folding cardbase with dotliner adhesive. Foam tape was added to the back of the focal image for dimension and it was adhered to the card front with liquid glue.

City Molli for Emerie

My young friend Emerie has a birthday in December. Her favorite color is pink. I went through my girl images to select one that looks a little like Emerie and decided to use La-La Land Crafts’ City Molli. I decided I wanted to use some paper piecing for the scarf and jacket on the image. I went through my 6 x 6 paper packs to find one with pink flowers and decided on Bo Bunny’s Early Bird paper. I love the pretty pink and blue flowers and decided to use a coordinating blue cardstock for the jacket.

I stamped the image onto the patterned paper and Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock. The scarf and jacket were fussy cut out. The image on the white cardstock was colored with Copic Markers. The scarf and jacket were adhered to the image with with liquid glue. Once the coloring was complete the rectangle was cut down using the Memento Matinee Rectangle. Sticky back foam was added to the back for dimension.

The flower patterned paper was die cut using a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle that was the same size of the card front. It was adhered with dotliner adhesive. The focal image was adhered to the front with liquid glue. The sentiment was stamped with pink ink in the lower right. The final embellishment was to add a few pink sequins.

Big Birthday Wishes Adelyn

Another young lady from church has a birthday in mid December, but since I was creating one for Annabel I decided to cut two birds with one pass in the Silhouette software.

Adelyn’s favorite colors are teal and purple. I wasn’t sure how these two colors would look together, but I really like the way it turned out. Once the image was colored with Copic Markers and cutout with the software it was laid on the paper side of sticky backed foam and fussy cut just smaller, then added to the back of the image.

For this card design a scalloped rectangle was cut from white cardstock and the image was laid on top to determine where to stamp the sentiment. It was then adhered using liquid glue.

Another rectangle was cut from white cardstock and embossed using the Darice Snowflake Embossing Folder and adhered to the front of a top folding A2 cardbase. Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the scalloped rectangle and it was adhered to card front with liquid glue.

The final embellishment was to add Ranger Glossy Accents to the heart on the sweatshirt.

Happy Birthday Annabel

A beautiful young lady in our church has a birthday the first of December. I looked through my cute girl images to find one that looked similar to Annabel and decided on Autumn Marci. It is getting colder here and I liked that she had a coat, hat, and gloves.

I printed the image with registration marks from my Silhouette Cameo software so it could cut around the image.

Annabel’s favorite color is blue, so I pulled out some different blue colors to give some variation to her outfit. I laid the image onto the paper side of some sticky back foam and traced out the image and then fussy cut it just smaller and adhered it behind the image.

A rectangle was die cut using the Memory Box Matinee Die. I love the pretty corners to this die. The image was laid on the rectangle to determine where to stamp the sentiment.

Another panel of white cardstock was cut using a stitched rectangle and then dry embossed using the Darice Snowflake Swirl Embossing Folder. It was adhered to a top folding cardbase with liquid glue and then the focal image panel was adhered using strips of Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape. This has a lower loft, which means you can have dimension to the image and the rectangle and it won’t be too thick to send through the mail.

Birthday Wishes Becca

My young friend Becca shares the same birthday as Abagail and so I created her card in much the same design as the previous card. I searched for an image that looked like Becca and printed it with a laser printer to ensure the lines did not bleed when coloring with Copic Markers.

Becca’s favorite colors is aqua and so those are the colors I used for the image. When I cut the image out with the PixScan Silhouette Mat it wasn’t even, so I used scissors to trim the image to the lines and then used a black marker around the edges.

As with Abagail’s card I used Simon Says Stamp’s You Matter Background stamp on a panel of white cardstock that had been sized with the largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle, this time stamping it in an aqua ink from Gina K. Designs. The panel was adhered to the front of a top folding card with dotliner adhesive.

Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back of the image and she was adhered to the front of the word background by removing the protective paper on the foam.

The sentiment was stamped in the same aqua ink, die cut with a label die and adhered below the image with foam tape, giving her something to stand on.

Birthday Wishes Abagail

This time of year gets really busy creating all the handmade Christmas cards I make to send to family and friends, so I was looking ahead to the birthday cards I would need in the month of November and saw that Abagail was turning 15. She is a sweet, kind, musically talented young lady. I went looking for an image that looks a little bit like her and colored it with Copic Markers in her favorite color.

I used my Silhouette PixScan Mat to cut out the image and added Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape to the back.

I wanted to add a meaningful background to this sweet image and decided to use Simon Says Stamp You Matter. The words are prefect for a teenager, reminding her how special and amazing she is. I used the largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle to cut a panel that would cover the front of an A2 cardbase. I stamped the background with a couple of light purple inks before getting the hue I wanted and adhered it to a top folding cardbase with dotliner adhesive. The image was adhered to the center of the card by removing the backing paper on the foam tape, leaving enough room at the bottom for the sentiment.

The sentiment was stamped on a scrap of white cardstock and die cut using a Simon Says Stamp Sentiment Labels die and adhered with foam tape, giving the image the illusion it was standing on it.

Happy One Year Older Ella

My young friend Ella turns fifteen on November 1. Her favorite color is coral. I found a image that looked a little like Ella and printed it on Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with a laser printer so that the lines don’t bleed when coloring with Copic Markers.

Once the coloring was complete the image was fussy cut with scissors right up to the line. I used a black Memento Marker to color the edges of the image. Simon Says Stamp Big Mama Foam Tape was added to the back for a little dimension.

I wanted to add some visual interest behind the focal image and decided to use WeR Memory Keepers Flower Embossing Folder. I first cut a scalloped rectangle and then embossed it. It looked okay, but I decided to step it up a bit and used the same Copic Markers to color the flowers, I also used a light green on the leaves. I really liked the outcome. Foam tape was added to the embossed scalloped rectangle and it was then adhered to a top folding cardbase. The backing was removed from the foam tape on the back of the focal image and it was adhered to the card front.

The sentiment was stamped using a coral pink ink from Gina K. Designs and then was die cut using a stitched fishtail sentiment die. Foam tape was added to either side of the sentiment die, leaving an opening for the legs of the image.

Eliza You Are a Little Bit Older and a Lot More Fabulous

Eliza shares a birthday with Autumn and her favorite color is also yellow. Maybe it’s because they are autumn children and the leaves turn such a beautiful yellow color.

I printed the cute image from La-La Land Crafts onto Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with a laser printer so the lines would not bleed when colored with alcohol markers. Once the coloring was complete I stamped the sentiment in the lower left of the card. To add some visual interest the focal image was die cut using a My Favorite Things Elegant Rectangle. I hardly ever use this die, but I really like the way it looks. I cut the next largest die from leftover yellow cardstock and adhered the two die cuts together with liquid glue. Sticky back foam was added to the back for dimension and it was adhered to a top folding white cardbase with liquid glue.

I felt that it needed a little something more, so I pulled out Nuvo White Crystal Drops and added them around the focal image on the yellow background. I really like the way it turned out.
