Janae You Are An Amazing Doctor

After four years of med school, three years of residency in pediatrics, one year as chief resident, and three years of fellowship in pediatric intensive card Janae is finally done with her medical training and is off to a great job at San Antonio Methodist Hospital in Pediatric Intensive Care.  She is an amazing doctor and we reap the benefits of her medical knowledge all the time as aging parents.  We are so very proud of her and her determination and dedication to be the best doctor she can be.  I wanted to create a special congratulations card for her and found this cute image by La-La Land Crafts.

I printed the image onto Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with my laser printer and the Silhouette Cameo software using registration marks so I could have the machine cut out the image.    This ensures that the lines will not blead when coloring the image with Copic Markers.  Janae’s favorite color is teal/aqua and so that is the color I used for the dress.  She usually wears scrubs in intensive care, but I’m sure she will appreciate the doctor’s coat as a symbol of her profession.  I shaded it with light gray markers to keep it white in color.

I die cut a rectangle from Gina K. Designs Tranquil Teal Cardstock using a stitched rectangle and then embossed it with the Stampin’ Up Subtle Embossing Folder which would be a great background to the image and sentiment.

I originally thought I would have a die cut sentiment block, but the amount of text I wanted to use in the space available just didn’t give a great cut, so I printed a message onto the same size block and cut it with the Silhouette.  There are five layers of the block for dimension so that the focal image, which was adhered with foam tape, could overlap and rest on the word block.  I also cut the Hero Arts Congrats from gold mirror cardstock and sticky back foam twice so that it would be the same height as the sentiment block.  I cut away a little of the foam behind the letters that were resting on the image and word block.

As a final embellishment I scattered gold confetti around the panel and adhered it to a top folding white cardbase.

The Happiest of Birthdays Jessica

Jessica’s a very smart and pretty girl whose favorite color is red. She had mid length blond hair and this cute image looks a little bit like her.

To enhance the heart on her dress front I used the Hero Arts Window on Love Confetti Fancy Die. The rectangle had been die cut using a stitched rectangle. To give the image a base to stand I embossed the sentiment onto a strip of black cardstock with white embossing powder.

The image was adhered with foam tape and the card was done.

Have a Beautiful Birthday KaraLee

KaraLee is a beautiful girl with long dark blond hair. Her favorite colors are green and turquoise and so that is how I color this cute image from La-La Land Crafts.

I printed the image with a laser printer and colored it with Copic Markers. Once colored it was die cut using a PIXScan Mat.

I had this thin frame of gold mirror cardstock. I die cut a rectangle using a stitched rectangle. I decided to use the Crafters Companion Regency Swirls 3D Embossing Folder to add visual interest behind the image. Before embossing, however, I stamped the sentiment with Gina K. Designs Ocean Mist Ink. The mirror thin frame was added to the embossed rectangle. The panel was adhered to the front of an A2 top folding cardbase.

The focal image was adhered to the panel using foam tape.

I had this brick background in my drawer and decided to pull it out for this cute image for Kellie.

The image was printed with a laser printer and colored with Copic Markers. Once coloring was complete it was die cut using a PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo.

I added a navy mat behind the brick panel. The focal image was adhered to the panel with foam tape. I die cut the sentiment and colored it with Copic Markers to give it am ombre look. It was adhered directly to the brick panel. The secondary sentiments were stamped with VersaMark Ink on navy cardstock and heat embossed with white embossing powder and adhered to the front with foam tape.

You Were Born MaryLynn – I Like That

This cute image is perfect for my young friend MaryLynn. Her favorite color is pink, but I added some gray accents.

For this card I pulled out Simon Says Stamp Mod Window Die. It add a lot of visual interest to a simple card. I added some pink cardstock behind the window to compliment the image and die cut both with a stitched rectangle. The focal image was added using foam tape for dimension and then the panel was adhered to the front of a top folding cardbase.

The sentiment was stamped with gray ink because of the colors of the image and the card was done.

My cardmaking style is clean and simple, but with that I still like to have some visual interest. With this card I added a rectangle that was embossed with a dotted embossing folder. To bring out the green of the image I added a mat of green cardstock that was colored with Copic Markers to match.

Dimension was added to the image with foam tape. The sentiment is a die cut and sentiment strip combined.

Happy Birthday is Written in the Stars

When I saw the name of this cute image from La-La Land Crafts “Shining Star Marci” I knew I wanted to use stars for the card design.

I pulled out my largest star die and die cut it from gold mirror cardstock. I wanted the Marci image to be sitting on a star.

This is a digital stamp and so I printed it using a laser printer so that I would bleed when colored with Copic Markers. The color scheme was determined by the recipient’s favorite colors.Once coloring was complete I used my Silhouette PIXScan Mat to cut around the image.

I pulled out My Favorite Things Written in the Stars and die cut the word from Neena Classic Crest and from Darcie Sticky Back Foam. I used my Copic Markers to give an ombre affect to the “Stars” die cut. For the secondary sentiment I used the Copic Markers to color some leftover cardstock to match and stamped the sentiment with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder.

For additional interest on the card I die cut a rectangle from white cardstock with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle and then embossed the Memeory Box Starry Night Background Die.

I placed all the elements on the card the way I liked them and adhered them using liquid glue. I felt it needed a little something extra. The Marci image has her hand out as if she is holding something so I die cut a small heart from mirror cardstock and placed it in her add. I also covered the star at the end of her headband with a gold mirror die cut star as well.
