Autumn Leaves Hello

It was time to create some more welcome/hello cards for the new people in our ward at church.  This time I wanted to make them fall cards and so I pulled some leaf dies that I hand: Lawn Fawn Stitched Leaves and Stampendous Leaf.

Like all papercrafters we have a lot of leftover paper.  I pulled some fall colors and die cut the leaves.  To provide some dimension I blended the edges with Distress Ink, colors used are listed below. I die cut a rectangle from Lawn Fawn Fall Plaid Collection with Simon Says Bundle of Stitched Shapes and blended the edges with Fossilized Amber Distress Ink.  I applied it directly to a top folding A2 cardbase made from craft cardstock with Tombo Adhesive Dot Runner.

I cut the Hero Arts Hello die three times from the same brown cardstock used for the leaves and inked the edges with Distress Rusty Hinge ink.  I glued them together with the Sakura Glue Pen.

I arranged the leaves how I liked them and glued a couple of the larger leaves in the back directly to the plaid rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The rest were adhered using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  For a final touch I added three of the Little B Acorn Stickers from Simon Says Stamp October Card Kit of the Month, and Pretty Pink Posh Gold Sequins.

  • Stampendous Leaf die
  • Distress Ink: Fired Brick, Fossilized Amber, Forest Moss, Rusty Hinge, Gathered Twigs

Noble Deer Masculine Birthday Card

My brother-in-law is an avid hunter and my sister is a saint since their home and cabin is decorated in hundreds of stuffed animals.  Although I like to take pictures of these noble creatures, Kirk enjoys the challenge of the hunt and has done it in Russia, Alaska, Africa, New Zealand, to name a few, and all across the United States.  The Stampin’ Up Noble Deer is the perfect stamp for a card for Kirk.

I began by using the Avery Elle Double Pierced Squares dies to create a square from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock.  I love this cardstock when using Copic markers because it does not bleed through.  Next I stamped the image with Memento Espresso Truffle ink, however, I stamped off once to lighten the ink.  I used the following Copic Markers to color image.

  • Deer: E33, E35, E37, E41
  • Grass: Y93, Y95
  • Trees: E49, G28, G85
  • Cloud: C1, C2
  • Sky: BG0000, BG 10

I created a top folding A2 cardbase from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock.  I cut some plaid cardstock I had in my stash with the rectangle from WPlus9 Gift Card Layers die and glued it directly to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Next I die cut some craft cardstock with the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles and placed the focal image on top to determine where to stamp the sentiment from My Favorite Things Big Birthday Sentiments with Memento Espresso Truffle ink.  To add some interest I took some twine I had in my stash and tied it just above the sentiment and then used a pick to spread the ends.

Next I used some 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to apply the focal image to the sentiment panel, and then I used some fun foam on the back of the craft panel, being sure to leave a channel for the thickness of the twine, and adhered it to the plaid cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Encouragement Cards: Every Journey Begins with a Single Step

I love making cards, which means that I spend a lot of time making them. I believe that each of us have been sent to earth with gifts and talents from the Lord, and He expects us to use our time and talents wisely.  I also believe that someday we will be accountable for what we have done with what we were given, like the parable of the talents in the New Testament.

As I was contemplating the amount of time I spend making cards, which I believe it is one of my talents, I felt that the Lord wanted me to do more to bless the lives of others with them, people outside of my family and friends.  There are people everywhere who need encouragement and kindness. So, I determined that I would make four cards every month and give them to an abused women and children’s home.  My hope is that they will help them as they begin to make major changes in their lives, and encourage them that they can do hard things for a better future.

Below are the cards I made this month. Each has the same sentiment I printed on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock.

00198For this card I die cut the sentiment panel with the scalloped rectangle from Winnie & Walter Audrey Essentials and adhered it with a Creative Hands Peel & Stick Foam Sheet to a side fold cardbase made from Gina K. Design 120# White Cardstock, cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.

The flowers are from Simon Says Stamp Spring Florals, stamped with VersaMark Ink on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock, and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder. I decided to color the images with Copic Markers (I would probably not do that again, since I remember that embossing powder can ruin the nibs). The following colors were used: YR12, YR14, YR15; BG13, BG18; YG01, YG03, YG23; G21, YG63, G94; R11, R12, R02.

The flowers were adhered to the sentiment panel with Tombo Mono Multi Glue, with the exception of the pink flower, which has some 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape under the bloom.

For this card I framed the sentiment with Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Rectangles out of Gina K. Designs 100# Black Cardstock and adhered it to the sentiment panel with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape. The flower and leaves are from Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Floral Greetings, stamped on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  Both images were colored with Copic Markers Y15, Y17, Y19, G94, G99.

The leaves were glued with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the flower was adhered with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape. The scalloped panel was adhered with Creative Hands Peel & Stick Foam Sheets to a side folding cardbase, made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.

For this card I die cut the sentiment with the Memory Box Stitched Rectangles Die and adhered it with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to a side folding cardbase, made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.

The flower and leaves are from the Papertrey Ink The Sweet Life stamp set and die.  This is a layering stamp set and I used Altenew Inks Buttercream, Warm Sunshine, Mango Smoothie, Forest Glad, and Evergreen.  The leaves were adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the flower was adhered with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape for added dimension.

For this card I die cut the sentiment with the second largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangle die. To frame the sentiment I die cut a black frame from Gina K. Designs 100# Black Cardstock with the My Favorite Things Pierced Rectangle Frames. I placed the sentiment inside the frame and used Scotch Tape on the back to adhere the two together.  I then used a Creative Hands Peel & Stick Foam Sheet to adhere the panel to a side folding cardbase, made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″.

The flower and leaves are from the Verve Great Friend Stamp set.  I used VersaMark Ink to stamp the images on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and embossed them with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The leaves were a solid image and I really like the solid gold look. The flowers were colored with RV11, RV12, and RV14 Copic Markers. I fussy cut them out and adhered the single flower onto the double flower with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape and glued the base flower to the frame with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Masculine Cards: Happy Birthday Chevron

I like clean and simple cards and I think they make really nice masculine cards.  I used the white, blue, and grey chevron paper from the Craft Smith Indigo Gold paper pack to make the following cards.

00185I cut a 1″ wide strip of Gina K. Designs 100# Navy Cardstock for the sentiment and then die cut Papertrey Ink Wonderful Words Birthday die from Paper Accents Mirror Gold Cardstock.  I applied the die cut with Tombo Mono Multi Glue to the navy strip.  I then stamped the “happy” from Winnie and Walter Big Bold & Party stamp with VersaMark Ink, prepping the area with Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Pad to ensure a clean application and applied Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Marvy Embossing Tool.

I cut the patterned paper to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and decided to apply the sentiment on the diagonal.  In looking at the layout I decided to cut 3/8″ from the left side of the patterned paper so I could add a strip of gold cardstock as an accent, which I applied directly to the cardbase with Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.  I then applied the patterned paper with Creative Hands Peel & Stick Foam Sheets to add some dimension.  The sentiment strip was applied with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to the top of the patterned paper.

At this point I thought the card was too plain, so I decided to add a gold balloon cut with the Lawn Fawn Party Balloons die.  I applied the string directly to the paper and popped up the balloon with foam tape and the card was done.

Happy Birthday Cupcake

I make a lot of birthday cards.  I have challenged myself to try to use all the stamps and products that I have purchased.  This card was inspired from some really cute paper by Doodlebug Designs, Sweet Things, which made a colorful cupcake using my Sizzix Balloon and Cupcake die.  I really like the way it turned out.

00199d

I used the coordinating paper to cut the cupcake and assembled it together using my Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  I wrapped the bottom of the cupcake with white organza ribbon and added a few white pearls.  I die cut a panel from Gina K. Designs 120# white cardstock with the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the cupcake and adhered to the panel, leaving enough room for the sentiment.

With WPlus9’s Happy Trio I die cut the “happy” from matching patterned paper.  To add dimension I cut the word again two more times from white cardstock and adhered them together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then it was adhered to the card. The word birthday came from Winnie & Walter Big Bold & Party and was stamped in Hero Hues Black.

The top folding card was made from Gina K. Design 120# white cardstock, cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″.  The panel was adhered to the card base with 3M 1/2″ foam tape.  On the inside of the card I cut down the cupcake dies to make it smaller and adhered it to the lower left corner.  The inside sentiment is from C. C. Designs Amy R. Sweet Sentiments, stamped with Hero Hues ink, and the card was done.
