Circular Lace Stencil Birthday Card

I’ve seen some card recently where they ink blended backgrounds using some of the new stencils from Simon Says Stamp and let that be the focal image of the card.  This card uses the Circular Lace Stencil and was ink blended with Distress Inks: Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry, and Broken China.  It makes a striking card.

The background is so eye catching that all you need is a sentiment, which was Mama Elephant Happy Script Die cut from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock with a secondary sentiment from Hero Arts Birthday Messages stamped with VersaMark Ink on black cardstock and heat embossed with Hero Arts Detailed White Embossing Powder.

Celebrated Every Day Birthday Card

My granddaughter Emma is turning twelve is quite the little artist.  The cute image from La-La Land Crafts entitled Artist Marci is perfect for her.  Her favorite color is aqua/teal blue and so that is what I used to color the image and stencil.

I originally made this card as a spinner, but when I was showing it to a friend the string broke and there wasn’t any way I could add new string between the front and back image because they had been adhered together with Sookwang Be Creative Tape and so I decided to make it a see through card.

This is a digital image and so it was easy to print both an original and mirror image.  They were colored with Copic Markers (listed below) and then die cut using the Silhouette PIXScan Mat.  As stated above the two images were adhered together with Be Creative Tape.

I pulled some striped blue ccardstock from the Echo Park Hello Winter 6 x 6 Pack and die cut it with a Memory Box Stitched Rectangle that would cover a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 top folding cardbase, made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The patterned paper was temporarily adhered to the front of the cardbase so a rectangle opening could be die cut through both the cardbase and the patterned paper.

Southbend Monofilament Line was adhered between the two focal images, leaving long tails.  The images were adhered in the center of the small rectangle with the strings being secured with more Sookwang Be Creative Tape then more tape was added to the back of the patterned paper and it was adhered to the front of the cardbase, covering the strings and securing them in place.

The Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Rectangle Frame was used to cut four teal blue frames.  Before adhering them to the front of the card the sentiment from Mama Elephant Make a Wish was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  Then two frames were together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was cut in half so that it would be narrow enough to be placed on the back of the frame adding dimension.  The other two were adhered to the inside of the card with liquid glue.

When the string broke on the spinner a piece of acetate was cut just smaller than the opening and was adhered to the front of the first frames with 1/8″ Be Creative Tape.  Another teal frame was die cut and adhered over the acetate with the same tape.  The focal image was run through my Xyron  Sticker Maker so that it would be smooth when placed on the acetate.

Since you  could see through the front of the card there wasn’t any place to stamp the sentiment and write a message, so a quarter sheet of Neena Classic Crest was cut 4 1/4″ x 5 3/4″ and the Echo Park Balloon Stencil and ink blended with Distress Oxide Inks Broken China and Peacock Feather.  It was scored at 5 1/4″ and the fold was adhered to the back of the card with some Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Another frame was die cut and an edge was cut to adhere to the top of the shorter stencil piece.  This allowed it to be a tri-fold where the sentiment could stamped behind the stenciled panel and a message written.

Stitched Leaves Birthday Card

I love the stamp Stitched Leaves by Gina K. Designs.  You can either stamp a solid image of each leaf, or you can stamp the outline only for a beautiful fall card.  For this card I created a watercolor background using Distress Inks and stamped the outline image with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed them with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  I love the multi colored look of each leaf.

To create this card Canson XL 140# Watercolor Paper was covered with Distress Ink Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, and Peeled Paint.  Each color was randomly applied onto the watercolor paper by directing smooching the ink pads all over the paper.  The paper was saturated with a spray bottle of water so that the colors would blend together.

When everything was completely dry an anti static pad was used to liberally coated the surface of the watercolored paper to ensure the embossing powder would only stick to the stamped images.  The leaf images were stamped with VersaMark Ink, heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder, heat set with the Marvy Embossing Tool, and die cut with the matching dies.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock and the front was dry embossing using the Darice Wood Grain Embossing Folder.  The leaves were then arranged into a grouping and adhered to the front with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape for the top maple leaf.

The sentiment is from the Mama Elephant Birthday Script Die and was cut from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock.  It was cut an additional four times from Gina K. Designs 80# Ivory Cardstock and adhered together with Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.  The secondary sentiment from the Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold, and Party stamp set was stamped on a scrap of red cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with the same gold embossing powder.  The die cut birthday was adhered to the card front with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the secondary greeting was adhered over it with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape and the card was done.

Studio Katia Blooming Trio Birthday

When I saw the new Studio Katia Blooming Trip Stamp I knew that it was one that I wanted.  It isn’t a big cluster of flowers, but with the draping leaves it is lovely.

I stamped the flower bouquet with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and cut it out using the PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo.  As long as you don’t use too thick of paper the silhouette does a beautiful job of cutting around an image.

I colored the image with Copic Markers: RV29, R27, R17; R08, R05, R22; R22, Y08; YG97, YG95, YG93; BG0000.  Love the pretty olive green that is achieved with the yellow green inks.  The focal image was placed on Darice Sticky Back Foam and was traced, fussy cut, and adhered to the back.

A rectangle of the Neena Solar White Cardstock was cut using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle and then run through the Big Shot using the Darice Quatrefoil Embossing Folder.  Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock was cut 1/8” larger than the die embossed rectangle and adhered to the back with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  A scrap of black cardstock was used to stamp the sentiment from Mama Elephant Make a Wish Sentiment Stamp with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  3M ½” Foam tape was added to the back and the sentiment was adhered to the lower third of the card front.  The focal image was adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

California Poppy Happy Birthday I and II

When I found these digital poppy corners I wasn’t sure if I was going to use both or one on a card.  As you can see I decided to use only one and made two separate cards.  The different colored matting gives a different feel to each of the cards.

There are many different colors for poppies, but my favorite is the orange red, with the deep black center.  That is how I colored these poppies with Copic Markers: YG97, YG95, YG93; YR18, YR16, YR12.  I printed them with my HP Laser Printer on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and then cut out the outline using the PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo.

The poppy flowers were laid on some Darice Sticky Back Foam and traced, fussy cut, and adhered to the back of the image for dimension.  A rectangle of the Classic Crest Cardstock was cut using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle and the flowers were placed in the corner to determine where to stamp the sentiment.  I wanted to use large sentiments for the cards so I used “happy birthday” from Mama Elephant Birthday Wishes for one, and “happy birthday to you” from My Favorite Things Handwritten Happiness.  Both were stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black using the MISTI.

Black and orange rectangles were added to the back of the focal images that 1/8” larger than the stitched rectangle.  The two were adhered together using Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  Each panel was adhered to a top folding A2 Cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the flower focal image was adhered to the front using the same glue.

A Sakura White Gel Pen was added to the center of one of the flower arrangement and the card was done.

My Best Friend Birthday I and II

Clearly Besotted’s My Best Friend has a beautiful spray of three flower that made a love card.  I decided to create two different cards, one using Altenew Inks: Sea Breeze, Turquoise, Tide Blue; and the second using Altenew Inks: Pink Diamond, Pinkalicious, and Rubellite.  Different green Altenew inks were used for each arrangement.

I decided to keep the design clean and simple, using a couple of My Favorite Things Frames to cause the flower arrangements to pop from the page.

I stamp and die cut the floral and leaf images and set them aside.  For the first card I die cut a rectangle frame using My Favorite Things Pierced Rectangle Frame and cut down 3M ½” Foam Tape so that it was narrow enough to be added to the back of the fame and not be seen.  A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the rectangle frame was added to the center to determine where to stamp the sentiment, which is from Technique Tuesday’s Cosmos Stamp set with Hero Hues India Ink Black.

Next the front of the card was run through the Big Shot using the Darice Basketweave Embossing Folder.  The backing paper was removed from the rectangle frame and adhered to the card front.  3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back of flowers and leaves so that they would lay flat on the surface of the card and voila, the card was done.

CARD TWO

The second card was done in the same manner, however, for this card the My Favorite Things Stitched Oval Frame was used.  The sentiment is from Mama Elephant’s Make a Wish and was stamped in the center of the oval with Hero Hues India Ink Black and then dry embossed using the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder.  The flowers were arrangement in the lower left of the oval, adhered with 3M Foam Tape and Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Flower Bouquet Make a Wish Birthday Card

This is another digital stamp from Pinterest (Pin #473229873336006274) that I printed with my HP Laser Printer onto Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and colored with Copic Markers: R39, R37, R85; BG34, BG32; Y38, Y23, Y08; V25, V22; YG67, YG17, YG03; YG61, YG03; YG97, YG95; BG49, BG15, BG13; BG0000.

I really didn’t like the look of the image, but I decided to try it with a dry embossed paisley background using some hot pink cardstock from Momenta Cardstock Carton 12 x 12 Paper Pad and the Cuttlebug Perfectly Paisley Embossing Folder.

I die cut a rectangle using rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  The sentiment from Mama Elephant Make a Wish was stamped prior to dry embossing with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  The image was traced onto some Darice Sticky Back Foam, fussy cut, and adhered to the back, then the image was glued a little to the right of the rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The rectangle was then adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock,

I liked the way it turned out.  Sometimes all you need to pull a design together is to have the right background.

Tree Peony Birthday Card

The Power Poppy Tree Peony is a new digital stamp that I recently purchased.  I found some pretty lilac and gold mirror paper in the Moment Cardstock Carton 12 x 12 Paper Pad and decided to use it for inspiration for coloring this image.   It was printed on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and die cut using the PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo.  3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back of the focal image.

A rectangle from the polka dot paper was created using the Rectangle from the Simon Says Stamp Bundles of Stitched Shapes and die cut circle was added to the upper center of the card with the My Favorite Thing Pierced Circle STAX.  A scrap of Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock was cut, dry embossed with the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder.  3M ½” Foam Tape was added around the circle opening and the rest of the card back and then the two were adhered together using Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.

The sentiment was cut from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock using Mama Elephant’s Happy Script Die.  All the elements of the card were added to the front of a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, which was dry embossed with the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder.  The secondary sentiment was stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black and the primary sentiment was adhered above it using Ranger Multi Medium Matte. To help it stand out from the purple background the lightest shade of lilac Copic Marker (RV91) was used to add a drop shadow to the word.

The focal image was adhered to the front of the cardbase using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Poppy Celebration Birthday Card

This is a digital stamp that I found on Pinterest Pin #484529609874984134.  Poppies are such beautiful flowers and I love the contrast from red and green.  I have an aunt who turns 101 this November and I felt like the sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Make a Wish would make the perfect card for her.  She is amazing and should be celebrated every day.

I printed the focal image on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and then traced and cut the image with the PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo.  It was colored with Copic Markers: R27, R24, R22; YG67, YG17, YG03; YR23, YR21.  The same white cardstock was used to die cut a rectangle a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle and then run through the Big Shot again with the Cuttlebug Oxford Embossing Folder.

The sentiment was stamped on a scrap of white cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  A scrap of green cardstock and 3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back to make it pop from the page.

Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the dry embossed rectangle and then adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The focal image was adhered to the front with the same glue and the backing paper was removed from the sentiment and adhered over the lower third of the focal image and the card was done.

My Favorite Things Stitched Flowers Birthday Card

When I cut the woodgrain banner rectangle from the Echo Park Lori White The Story of Fall it had a cute flower corner that was left behind.  It was just a pretty, colorful paper that I just had to use it.

So, I went through my flower dies and pulled out the My Favorite Things Stitched Flowers die.  I then went through my scraps of solid colored cardstock and found some that matched the colors on the patterned paper.  I found some yellow cardstock and cut it 1/8” larger than the woodgrain paper and adhered to the two together using Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  I then arranged the flower around the corner left behind in the patterned paper and adhered them to the panel using Ranger Multi Medium Matte and 3M ½” Foam Tape.

For a sentiment I pulled out the Mama Elephant Birthday Script Die and cut it once from the red cardstock and twice more from yellow cardstock and adhered them together using Elmer’s Glue Craft Adhesive Spray.  It was then glued to the open yellow rectangle of the card front.  The word “HAPPY” is from Hero Arts Birthday Messages and was stamped on a scrap of red cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossing using Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder.  A fishtail was added to the right and then it was adhered just above the “birthday” die cut with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

I felt like the white on the card was too stark and so I use Copic Marker E50 Egg Shell to color everything that was white on the card.

A rectangle of Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller than the focal image and adhered to the back.  A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock and the focal image was adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.
