C.C. Designs DoveArt Studios Himalayan Poppy Birthday Card

I am always looking for pretty flower stamps and when I saw the Himalayan Poppy stamp from C. C. Designs I knew it would make a beautiful card.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink because I wanted to color it with Copic Markers.  Since there wasn’t a matching die available I used my so I used my Silhouette Cameo PIXScan Mat to cut around the image.  The Copic Markers used were: G24, G94, G99 ; BG18, BG15, BG13; B00.

To assemble the card i die cut some Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with the largest Avery Elle Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables and then ran it through the Big Shot again with the Darice Basketweave Embossing Folder.  To accent the color of the flowers I cut some matching cardstock 1/8″ larger than the die cut rectangle and adhered the two together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the embossed panel was applied using Darice Adhesive Fun Foam and Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the focal image flowers and added to the embossed panel.

The sentiments is from My Favorite Things Celebrate You stamp set.  It was stamped on some Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock with Simon Says Stamp Clear Embossing Ink and Gina K. Designs Fine Detail White Embossing Powder was added and heat set with the Marvy Embossing Tool.  It was then cut into a double fishtail banner and adhered to the card with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  To add a little more interest Gold Tinsel Stickles was added to the stamen of the flowers and the card was done.

Nuts About You Valentine’s Day Card

This Valentine’s Day card was made with my daughter Aimee and her family in mind.  She has four amazing, wonderful, smart kids and I wanted them to remember how much I loved them.  I thought the My Favorite Things Nuts About You stamp and die set would be perfect.

I found the wood grain paper from Around the Block Ash Filigree paper pack and die cut it using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes rectangle.  Next, I die cut three hearts from red cardstock that I had in my stash of papers with the Spellbinders Heart dies.  On one of the hearts I stamped the sentiment from My Favorite Things Nuts About You with Simon Says Stamp Clear Embossing Ink.  I used my MISTI to stamp the sentiment since it was textured cardstock and I wanted a clean, crisp image.  I covered the sentiment with Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder and heat set it using the Marvy Embossing Tool.

I stamped the cute squirrel and acorn on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with the following Copic Markers: W2, W3, W4, W5, R20; R27, R22, YR24; E30, E33, E35/E55, E57, E59

It was not time to assemble the card.  I placed the red hearts on the wood grain panel.  The two side hearts where adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the center heart with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape for dimension.  The squirrel was placed on the right heart since it was facing left and the acorn on the left heart using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.  I like the card, but it needed something more so I stamped some smaller acorns from the Simon Says Stamp Nutty Over You stamp set and fussy cut them using scissors and scattered them on the hearts.  It still needed something more and since I had been using the Impression Obsession Heart of Hearts die on a previous card I die cut it again from a scrap of red cardstock and scattered them around the card front and that was just what it needed.

The side folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock, but when I went to place the wood grain panel I felt it needed a little pop of color and so I cut a panel of red cardstock 1/8″ larger than the wood grain panel and adhered them together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then using the same glue adhered them both to the cardbase and the card was done.

MFT Color Challenge 61: Love You #2

This is the second card I made for the the My Favorite Things Color Challenge 61.  The inspiration for this card was taken from the background paper which is from 2014 Pink Paislee Pen Pals Correspondants paper pack, which has letters in white circles with a gray border, some of the circles have little red hearts.  A panel of of this paper was cut using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes rectangle and adhered to a cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Kraft cardstock, cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″ for a side folding card.

A circle was cut from a scrap of gray cardstock using the third largest My Favorite Things Pierced Circle STAX die.  Next a circle was cut using the next smallest circle from the die set from White Doodlebug Sprinkles Vellum.  A heart was cut from a scrap of red cardstock using the third largest Spellbinders Classic Hearts die and then the word “LOVE” was cut from the center of the heart using My Favorite Things Little Uppercase dies.  The word “you” came from My Favorite Things Nuts About You stamp set and was stamped at the bottom of the heart with Simon Says Stamp Clear Embossing Ink and heat set with Gina K. Designs Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.  The heart was adhered to the vellum circle using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape for added dimension and then the vellum circle was adhered to the gray circle using Tombo Mono Multi Glue, adhered only to the vellum where the red heart would cover up the glue.  Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was cut just smaller than the gray heart and adhered to the back of the circle and the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

From the first card created for this challenge there were a lot of hearts left over from cutting all the colors of the challenge with the Impression Obsession Heart of Hearts die.  These were scattered around the heart, as well as on the background paper.  Wink of Stella was added to the hearts and the card was done.

MFT Color Challenge 61: Love You

I’ve been wanting to participate in My Favorite Things Color Challenges for some time.  It always seems like I’m on a deadline for other cards I need to make, I’m out of town, or various other reasons why I don’t do it.  (Couldn’t be that it intimidates me have my work on display.)

This week’s challenge used coral, red persimmon, blue, and gray.  Since it is getting close to Valentine’s Day I decided to use the Heart of Heart die from Impression Obsession and fill the hearts will all the colors of the challenge.

I used scrap paper that I have in my stash and cut a circle from gray and blue cardstock using the third largest My Favorite Things Pierced Circle STAX.  I then placed the Heart of Heart die in the center of the gray circle and once it was cut I adhered it to the blue circle cut earlier for a backing to adhered all the colored hearts to.  I cut the Heart of Heart die from all the colors in the challenge and began filling in the heart openings, gluing them in place with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

For the card background I used My Favorite Things Chevron Coverup and cut it from blue cardstock.  I cut it again from Darice Adhesive Fun Foam and adhered it to the blue cardstock for added dimension.  I ink blended the edges with Distress Peacock Feathers ink and adhered it to a side folded cardbase made from 120# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock.

To adhere the focal image to the card I cut a circle from Darice Adhesive Fun Foam just smaller than colorful heart circle and glued it to the front of the card using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

For the sentiment I cut Hero Arts Love and Heart die from red cardstock six times.  Since the top of the “L” was going to lay on top of the focal image I cut off the loop so that it would lay flat on the circle.  The word “you” from Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold, and Party stamp set was stamped with Simon Says Stamp Clear Embossing Ink and then heat set with Gina K. Designs Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.  The word was cut into a narrow banner and adhered to the card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Masculine Birthday Card with MFT Chevron Coverup

Some of the most challenging cards for me are masculine birthday cards and I have a lot of guys that I need throughout the year. Graphic elements can make a great card and I really like the look of this card that was made using the negative space leftover from My Favorite Things Chevron Coverup.

First I took a piece of Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and used the Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool to create an ombre of color with the following Distress Inks: Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Fired Brick.  The panel was run through the Big Shot with My Favorite Things Chevron Coverup.

To add dimension three additional coverups were cut using Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and all were adhered together using Elmer’s Adhesive Spray and then adhered to the front of a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Stylish Sentiments: Birthday stamped with VersaMark Ink on Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.  It was then cut into a fishtail banner and adhered to the front of the card with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape
