Flashy Florals Birthday Card II

This is the second card I made with My Favorite Things Flashy Florals.  I used less flowers for this card, since the focal image was die cut with a smaller rectangle from My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangles.  All of the flowers were adhered directly to the focal image rectangle with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  The sentiment is from a retired set called Amy R Great Birthday Greetings.  For added interest to the smaller flowers I used some Queen & Co. Red Jellies and scatter a few yellow and red around the sentiment.

When you have a clean and simple card design I often like to add dimension by using and embossing folder on the card front.  A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and then run through the Big Shot with the Darice Basket Weave Embossing Folder.

Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” inch smaller than the focal image and then adhered to the card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Flashy Florals Birthday Card I

I hadn’t used the My Favorite Things Flashy Florals in quite a while and so one day I pulled them out and started stamping them in multiple colors.  I decided to add some gold embossing powder for the flower centers on some of them, and for others I used the gold embossing powder for the second layer of the images as well.  It’s fun to create a lot of flowers at one time and then make as many cards as you can from what you have available.  I got four different cards from the images stamped.

The colors of Gina K. Designs Ink used for this card are listed below.  A rectangle of Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with the My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle.  I placed the flowers in the floral arrangement I liked.  Then used Glad Press and Seal to keep it all together and you can lift them off and stamp the greeting.  I used one from Amy R Great Birthday Greetings, which was stamped using the MISTI and Hero Hues India Ink Black.

Now it is time to put some Tombo Mono Multi Glue to the back of the floral arrangement you have on the Press and Seal.  It is easy to hold onto the edges of the excess Press and Seal to place the arrangement where you want it.  Add a little weight to keep things in place until the glue dries and you have a quick and easy card.  The only thing that doesn’t stick is the floral images not exposed to the back.  I popped these up with a little 3M ½” Foam Tape to add some dimension.

Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller than the rectangle and adhered to the back of the focal image, which was then adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

The Thing About Courage

So many people I know are facing difficult challenges in many different areas of their lives.  I wanted to create a card of encouragement.  I love this sentiment from My Favorite Things DC Vertical Greetings.  I wanted it to take center stage and so I ink blended a background with Distress Oxide Inks: Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, and Peacock Feathers onto Bristol Smooth Cardstock.  These ink blend beautifully.

I waited for the background to be completely dry before I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine Onyx Black Ink because I wanted to add Hero Arts Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  I heat set it with the Marvy Embossing Tool and then die cut it with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  A piece of Gina K. Designs 120# black cardstock was cut 1/8” larger and the two were adhered together using Sookwang Be Creative Tape.

I rectangle of Darice Sticky Foam was die cut with the same rectangle die and adhered to the back of the focal image.  A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A clean and simple card focusing on a great message for all of us to remember.

The second card was made the exact same way, but with different colors of Oxide Inks.

The Reel Deal Birthday Card

This image is very similar to Stampin’ Up’s Angler and is a digital image from Power Poppy called Reel Deal.  I always print these images on my small HP Laser Printer so that it doesn’t bleed when coloring.  The image was printed on Gina K. Designs 80# Ivory Cardstock and colored with Copic Markers: C2, C3; R24, R27, R29; YR07, Y17, YG03, B23, B24, B26, B37; E55, E35, E57; YG91, YG93.

It was printed as a small image and so I die cut it using a smaller Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller and adhered to the back.  A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Navy Cardstock.  The sentiment from My Favorite Things Celebrate You was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The focal image was adhered to the card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  I love the way it pops off the page with the dark cardbase.

Petite Plushies: Happy Birthday Bunny

While I had already made a couple of cards for Aurora’s birthday, she recently told me she had asked for a black bunny for her birthday and so I decided to make one more card to choose from using the bunny from the Clearly Besotted Petite Plushies stamp set.

I stamped the bunny all over a 4 ¼ x 5 ½ piece of Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I needed some other birthday images to fill in the open areas left after stamping the bunnies and so I pulled out Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes for the balloons, Clearly Besotted It’s Your Birthday for the party hats, and Avery Elle Cake and Candles for the confetti and stamped them with Altenew Mountain Mist, Buttercream, Soft Lilac, Frosty Pink, Sea Glass inks.

I stamped one more bunny on a scrap of cardstock and then colored all the bunnies using Copic Markers W0, W1, W6, W7, W9, R20.  Once the color was done the black bunny was die cut using the matching die and the background was then die cut using Simon Says Stamp Stiched Rectangles.

I searched my scraps of paper to find some light turquoise cardstock, which is Aurora’s favorite color and cut it with my guilotine paper cutter 1/8” larger than the background paper and adhered them both together using Elmer’s Dot Runner Adhesive.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was then cut 1/8” smaller than the blue rectangle and adhered to the back of the focal image.  It was then adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Celebrate You and was stamped with VersaMark Ink on a strip of the turquoise cardstock and then heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  3M ½” The black cutout bunny was added to the left of the sentiment and then the strip with cut to fit across the card front.  Foam Tape was added to the back of the sentiment strip and behind the bunnies head an then it was adhered to the lower third of the card.

This is eventually the card that was given to Aurora and she loved it.

Floral Bliss: May All of Your Wishes Come True

I finally received the Simon Says Stamp Floral Bliss stamp set and wanted to use it right away.  I stamped the image on Canson XL 140# Watercolor Paper in the upper left and lower right of the panel with VersaFine Black Ink and then heat embossed it with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.

I decided to color the image using my Tombo Dual Brush Makers: 873 Coral, 636 Imperial Purple, 743 Hot Pink, 723 Pink, 443 Turquoise, 249 Hunter Green, 277 Dark Green, and 177 Dark Jade.  I didn’t water the colors down very much and they turned out very bright and colorful.  I watercolored the background of the images using Broken China Distress Ink.  I applied it to an acrylic block and spritzed it with water so that it was a light, pale color.  Once it was dry I cut down the images using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles and added Darice Sticky Back Foam to the back to add dimension.

To focal image was then adhered to a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Pretty Pink Posh Enchanted Garden Sequins were scattered around the flowers and the card was done.

OCC Rainbow Maker: Crossing Waves Stencil Background Birthday Card

In this class they showed how beautiful backgrounds can be created using Distress Oxide Inks and stencils.  I had recently purchased Hero Arts Crossing Waves Stencil and decided to give it a try.  Love the way it turned out.

I taped the stencil to the back of a quarter sheet of Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock.  I wanted to keep the colors to blue, green and yellow.  The colors of Oxide inks used were: Broken China, Salty Ocean, Twisted Citron, and Wild Honey.  The Oxide Inks blend beautifully on the Bristol Smooth paper.  Once I lifted the stencil front the paper it revealed this amazing graphic background.

The background was die cut using the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundles of Stitched Shapes.  A rectangle 1/8″ smaller was cut from a Darice Sticky Back Foam Sheet and adhered to the back. It was then adhered to the front of a top folding A2 Cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

I didn’t want the sentiment to detract from the focal image and so it was stamped with VersaMark Ink on a scrap of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and then heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  It was adhered to the focal image with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape and the card was done.

OCC Rainbow Maker: Flower Fusion Happy Birthday

For this card I wanted to keep the colors more feminine and decided to ink blend a background using Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet and Broken Chine Distress Oxide Inks.  I think it is a very pretty accent to the Flower Fusion Coverup from My Favorite Things.

This was a very simple card to make.  The Oxide inks blend beautifully on the Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock and the coverup from My Favorite Things adds a touch of class.  I die cut the coverup three times from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and adhered them together with Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.  It was then adhered to the ink blended background with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

I wanted the sentiment to standout on the coverup, but I didn’t want it to be too overwhelming and so I stamped it on Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock and then fussy cut around it.  It was adhered to the coverup using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape for a little added dimension.

The focal image was glued directly to the front of a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  I like the card, but I felt like it needed a little something to make it stand out, so I pulled out some Recollection Rhinestones that have a frosted look to them and added them for the centers of the flowers.  It was the perfect finishing touch.

A Masculine Hello

I was in need of a masculine hello card and wanted something simple.  I pulled out some paper from the Craft Smith Indigo Gold 12 x 12 Paper Pad to create this card and really liked the finished card.

A rectangle of the navy blue cardstock was cut using the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes  It was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

In the same paper pack was some gold and blue diagonal stripped paper.  The word “hello” was die cut from this paper using My Favorite Things Happy Hellos Die. The word was cut an additional three times with scrap navy blue paper and all were adhered together using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  A thin strip of the same diagonal paper was added to the left of the navy blue cardstock and then the negative of the die cut word was used to ensure the “hello” word was straight and spaced evenly.  Each letter was adhered using the same glue and the card was done.

  • Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock
  • My Favorite Things Happy Hellos Die

A second card was made from the same cardstock using the negative of the hello die cut from the diagonal cardstock, which was die cut using the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  A piece of navy blue cardstock was added behind the die cut word.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller than the focal rectangle and adhered to the back.  An A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock and the stripped paper was adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  A small strip of navy blue cardstock was added just above the “hello” word and the second card was done.

Birthday Cake Lucy

C. C. Designs has some really cute girl images that make great birthday cards, this one is call Birthday Cake Lucy.  This card was made for a young lady that’s favorite color is green.  Not sure how often you see a deep green frosting, but the card turned out cute.

I was going to have my car serviced and it usually takes about two hours, so I stamped quite a few images on watercolor paper with VersaFine Black Ink, heat embossed them with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder and took my Tombo Dual Brush Markers with me.  It really made the time go quickly and I felt like I wasn’t wasting my time.

The color of markers used were: 195 Light Green, 245 Sap Green, 277 Dark Green, 020 Peach, 942 Tan, 969 Chocolate, 879 Brown, 933 Orange.

When I got home I die cut the image with the second largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  This allow for the green background paper from the Recollections Bright and Basic 12 x 12 Paper Pack to enhance her favorite color.  I die cut the patterned paper using the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles and glued it to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with some Elmer’s Dot Runner Adhesive.

The sentiment is from My Favorite Things Celebrate You and was stamped at the bottom of the patterned paper with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  To help it stand out a little more, I used a green Tombo Marker and created a drop shadow to the words.

Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut to be 1/8 smaller than the focal image and was adhered to the back to add dimension.  It was then adhered to the patterned paper with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.
