I love this large butterfly from Paper Artist and decided that I wanted it to back it with some pretty patterned paper. I die cut the butterfly three times from white cardstock to give it dimension, die cut a rectangle of white for the card front and then die cut the butterfly the way I wanted it to appear on the card front. I added some pretty pink patterned paper behind the rectangle, popped it up with some Darice Sticky Back Foam and added it to the cardbase. I then glued the white butterfly in place, scattered smaller butterflies around it, stamped the sentiment and the card was done.

My friend Rebecca has a birthday coming up. Her favorite colors are blue and gray. I have been experimenting with Alcohol Inks and thought that they could be used to create a beautiful background with these colors. For the gray I decided to use the Silver Mixative and it turned out gorgeous.
When I create an alcohol background I like to saturate the Yupo paper with Alcohol Blending Solution and them drop the colors I’ve selected randomly onto the paper. Once I have all the colors applied I use a straw to push the color around and sometimes pick the paper up and rock it from side to side until I get the blend that I like. I then set it aside to let it completely dry and then spray it with a fixative, I use Grumbacher Matte Final Fixative.
I wanted to create a card that would really let the background be the star of the show. I decided to use a butterfly die from Paper Artist that allowed me to cut not only the butterfly but a background as well. I cut the butterfly three times from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and adhered them together using Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive. The base of the butterfly was cut using Paper Accents Silver Mirror Cardstock and they were adhered together with the same spray adhesive.
Once the alcohol ink was dry I die cut it using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle. I die cut the sentiment from the same mirror cardstock using a Penny Black Doodle Thins die. I sprayed the back with the Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive and added it to the bottom of the alcohol ink panel.
I added a couple of thin strips of 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to the center of the butterfly and adhered it on an angle to the front of the alcohol ink panel. Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller than the panel and adhered to the back.
A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock. The focal panel was adhered to the front using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done. It turned out beautiful.
