Happy Birthday Ariana

The digital images from Make It Crafty make perfect cards for the young women in our church.  This card is for Ariana, whose favorite color is Forest Green.  She has beautiful, long dark hair and brilliant blue eyes.   This image is called Tress Joyful.

The image was printed on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with a laser printer, which ensures that the lines will not bleed when coloring with Copic Markers.  Colors used were: B37, B45, B34, B41; G29, G28, G09, G24; E49, E57, E55; E11, C01, E000, R20; B0000.

When coloring was complete it was cut using the PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo.  The image was placed on Darice Sticky Back Foam and traced with a pencil, fussy cut with scissors, and adhered to the back of the focal image.

A rectangle of the same white cardstock was cut using a Gina Marie Designs Loopy Rectangle Die.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back for additional dimension.  The sentiment from Penny Black Sprinkles & Smiles was stamped on this decorative rectangle with Gina K. Designs Christmas Pine Ink.

Have a Musically Wonderful Birthday Ann

We have a young woman in our church who is a very talented violinist.  She has competed in Europe, as well as Carnegie Hall.  When I saw this cute Girl with Violin from Polka Doodles I knew it would make the perfect card for Ann.

I printed the image on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with a laser printer.  This ensures that the lines will not bleed when coloring with Copic Markers.  Colors of markers used were: E11, E01, E000, R20; E49, E59, E37; E59, E35, E34, E33, E42; C0, C1; B000, B0000.  Once the coloring was complete a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle was used to die cut the image.

The sentiment from Penny Black’s Sprinkles & Smiles was stamped on the bottom of the focal image rectangle with Hero Hues India Ink Black.

A rectangle of blue cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger and adhered to the back of the focal image rectangle.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut the same size as the MFT rectangle and adhered to the back for added dimension.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from 120# Gina K. Designs White Cardstock and the focal image panel was adhered with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

Happy Everything Aubrey

This card was made for a young woman at my church whose favorite color is purple.  I used the La-La Land Crafts Darling Marci Digi Stamp and printed it on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with my laser jet printer, which allows you to color with Copic Markers without the lines bleeding.

I colored the image with the following Copic Markers: V28, V25, V22, BV17, BV 13; E49, E47, E57, E55; E11, E01, E000, R20, R21.  I added white polka dots to the dress using a Sakura White Get Pen.  Once the coloring was complete I used the PIXScan Mat to cut around the image with the Silhouette Cameo.

I found some purple and pink plaid cardstock in the Recollections Bright & Basic Paper Pack and die cut it with an A2 My Favorite Things Rectangle STAX die.  It was adhered to the front of a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.

Whenever I use an image that appears to be sitting I like to have something to ground them.  I die cut the La-La Land Crafts Garden Bench out of some Simon Says Stamp Woodgrain Cardstock and ink blended it with Distress Inks Brushed Corduroy and Vintage Photo.  I added thin strips of 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to the back of the bend to add dimension.  The focal image was adhered to the bend with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive, with a little foam tape behind the legs so that it would be on the same level.

The sentiment is a Penny Black die from the Awesome set.  It was cut multiple times from white cardstock and adhered together with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  The top layers was colored using the same purple Copic Markers that had been used on the dress, blended with darkest on the bottom.  It was adhered to the bottom of the plaid card front and then the bench and girl were adhered as well.

Sweet Birthday Wishes Rachel

This is another cute image from Paper Nest Dolls called Ice Cream 1.  The thing I really like about digital images is that you can make then any size that fits your card design.  This card was made for Rachel, whose favorite color is green.

I printed the image onto Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with my Brother Laser Printer, which allows you to color the image without the lines bleeding.  Colors used: E57, G55, E53; E35, E53, E51; G94, G85, G24, G21, G20; YR24, YR23, YR21; Y26, Y21.  Once the coloring was complete I die cut around the image with the PIXScan Mat and the Silhouette Cameo.  I placed the image on some Darice Sticky Back Foam, traced around it with a pencil, fussy cut the foam with scissors, the added it to the back of the image.

Since Rachel’s favorite color is green I found some green patterned paper that matched the colors in the image and die cut it with an A2 My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle.  I decided I wanted to have a raised frame around the image and so I placed a Gina Marie Designs In & Out Stud Dot Rectangle in the center of the paper and cut it using the Big Shot.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was cut to add to the back of the frame.

The image and frame were placed on a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock to determine where to stamp the sentiment.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts Coloring Layering Ice Cream stamp set and was stamped using Altenew Frayed Leaf ink.  The backing was removed from the foam tape and the frame was added to the font of the of the card.  The image was then adhered using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  Sequins from Doodlebug Limeade and Pretty Pink Posh Fresh Mint were scattered around the image and the card was done.

Enhanced Gold Embossed You Are Awesome

Not long ago I did some tarnished gold cards using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink to distress or tarnish some embossed mirror cardstock panels.  I wondered what that technique would look like using a colored VersaFine Ink.  For this card I used Teal Blue and love the way it turned out.  Such an easy way to have a striking card.

The only real tip I would give for working with VersaMark Ink on a slick surface such as mirror cardstock, I used Grumbacher Matte Final Fixative to set the ink and insure that it would not rub off.

Great Love Valentine’s Day Card

I send cards every 4-6 weeks to the young people from our church who are serving either an 18 month or two year mission for the church.  They are away from home and it is always nice to get a message of encouragement and support.  Since this month is February, I decided to sent a love themed card.  I love this Penny Black stamp set, All Great Things, because it has great quotes.  This one is from Mother Teresa.  We all can do small things with love that will help others around us.  The world would be a better place if we did it a little more consistently.

I die cut a large heart using a Spellbinder Classic Hearts die from Gina K. Designs Red Hot 120# Cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  I was adhered on the left of the front of a side folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Small white hearts were die cut using the Impression Obsession Heart of Heart Die.  I really like this die for small hearts since it has both solid and open heart.  They were scattered around the large heart and adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  Using the same red cardstock the word love from Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Love was die cut and adhered to the right of the heart with the same glue.  To add more dimension and interest I pulled out some heart dies from Papertrey Ink Heart Prints and Simon Says Stamp Holiday Shapes and embossed them around the large heart using the Spellbinders embossing pad.

A clean and simple card that has a big punch with the bright red and white mix of colors.

You Are Beautiful Inside and Out (TLC675)

This card was created by adding distress ink onto acetate and smooshing it onto damp watercolor paper.  This technique creates really beautiful background, but it also can create some lovely die cut images and florals. The flowers are from the Spellbinder January Die of the Month and were cut from leftover watercolor background paper.  I wanted something bright and cheerful to accent the flower images and so another watercolor background was created using yellow distress inks. The yellow background was die cut using a My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle STAX.  The die cut flowers were adhered to the watercolor panel with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  A small turquoise rhinestone was added to the center flower. The sentiment is from Penny Black’s Heartfelt and was stamped just below the flowers using Hero Hues India Ink Black.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller than the focal image panel and adhered to the back.To accent the color of the flowers some turquoise cardstock was found in my stash and die cut using a My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle.  A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The turquoise rectangle was adhered to the cardbase using Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  The focal image panel was adhered to the center using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.PRODUCTS USED:

Butterfly Happy Everything Card (TLC675)

This card was created by adding distress ink onto acetate and smooshing it onto damp watercolor paper.  This technique creates really beautiful background.

Because the background is so pretty I wanted to keep the rest of the card for clean and simple by only adding a die cut focal image and sentiment from white cardstock.  The butterfly is from Paper Artist’s 3 Butterflies Die and was cut three time from 80# white cardstock and adhered together using Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.  The same technique was used to die cut and adhere layers of one of the word dies from Penny Black’s Awesome.

The watercolor background was die cut using My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle STAX.  Darice Sticky Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller and adhered to the back.  A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the watercolor panel was adhered to the front with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

The butterfly and sentiment were adhered to the front of the watercolor panel using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  To add a little additional focal image Crystal Stickles was added to the word die cut and the body of the butterfly and the card was done.
