Have a Wonderful Sweet Birthday

This card is for Aubrey who is an awesome big sister and a lovely pianist. Her favorite color is purple, but to add a little more interest I added some pink accents.  Wouldn’t it be fun to have a chocolate birthday cupcake half as big as you are.  Might have a stomach ache afterwards, but it would be a delicious treat.

This image is from Penny Black’s Sweet Thing and was stamped on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  The image was colored with Copic Markers (colors listed below) and then die cut using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  I have been an a kit lately of using patterned paper as a background to the focal image and decided to use Doodlebug 2523 Lilac Daisy-Stripe Cardstock.  It was cut with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle.  Matching purple cardstock was found from my stash and rectangles for both the focal image and the background panel were cut 1/8″ larger and adhered to the back of each rectangle with Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was also added to the back of the focal image to add dimension.

The sentiment from Penny Black Sprinkles and Smiles was stamped below the focal image with Altenew Lavender Ink.  An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The patterned paper rectangle and the focal image rectangle were adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Gold Stickles was added to the center of the cupcake flower and as the confetti on the cupcake and the card was done.

Bring on the Happy Birthday Card

How can you not fall in love with the cute images from Whimsy Stamps. This card uses Wee Suzi and was made for Charlyn, whose favorite color is lavender.

The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock.  It was colored with Copic Markers (colors listed below) and then die cut with the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  A rectangle 1/8″ larger was cut out of purple cardstock I had in my stash.  Both were adhered together using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and then Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was adhered to the back of the panel.

The sentiment from Penny Black Sprinkles and Smiles was stamped below the focal image with Altenew Lavender Ink.  I wanted to highlight the lavender color so I pulled out Lawn Fawn’s Perfectly Plaid 6 x 6 Petite Paper Pack and die cut a rectangle of the diagonal lavender plaid cardstock with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes. Purple cardstock 1/8″ larger was adhered to the back of the plaid paper and then it was adhered to a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue. The same glue was added to the fun foam on the back of the focal image and then it was adhered to the plaid card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue, and the card was done.

Have a Sweet Day Birthday Card

This personalized birthday card was created for our newest young woman, Aubrey.  Her favorite color is pink and anything that sparkles, according to her mom and big sister.

The image is from Penny Black’s Wish Big and was stamped on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Everything was colored with different hues of pink (colors listed below).  Copic YR23 was used as a base for anything gold.  Once the coloring was complete the focal image was die cut using Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  To add more sparkle and bling Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger and both were adhered together with Sookwang Scor-Tape.

To accent the pink and gold theme a larger rectangle was cut with the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle from Dream Street Paper LLC Baylee’s Garden Rain Drops paper, which has gold foil at the center of the cirles.  A rectangle 1/8″ larger was cut from mirror cardstock and both were adhered together with Scor-Tape.  This panel was adhered to a top folding A2 Cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.

The focal image rectangle was placed on the card front to determine where to stamp the sentiment from My Favorite Things Delicious Birthday with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The focal image was then adhered to the card front by adding Tombo Mono Multi Glue to the fun foam.  Gold Stickles was added to the crown, ribbons, dots on the present, and the star confetti and the card was done.

Just One More Candle Birthday Card

This is a birthday card for Jenna made with Penny Black’s Big Wish stamp set.  I love coloring these cute little people for personalized birthday cards.

The image was stamped on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored with Copic Markers (colors listed below).  As always, these cards are colored with the recipients favorite colors.  Once the coloring was complete it was die cut using the second largest Lawn Fawn Small stitched Stackable Rectangles.

Blue patterned paper from Perfect Prints Forever in Time 6 x 6 Paper Stack was die cut with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. Blue paper to match the patterned paper was found in my stash and cut 1/8″ larger and both were adhered together using Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.

A scalloped rectangle was cut from the same blue cardstock using the Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Rectangles Die.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back of both the scalloped rectangle and the focal image. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes and was stamped with Altenew Caribbean Ink in the lower left.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the patterned paper rectangle was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The blue scalloped rectangle was adhered by putting the same glue on the back of the fun foam and then adhering it to the cardbase.  The focal image was glued in the center of the scalloped rectangle with the same glue.  Wink of Stella was added to the balloon and hat.  Neat & Tangled Pink Lemonade Sequins and Doodlebug Blue Jeans Sequins were scattered on the card front and the card was done.

Believe in Miracles Floral Encouragement Card

This is the second card I’ve made recently with Simon Says Stamp Look for the Miracles.  I had cut some outlines of the flowers and leaves with the Silhouette from Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock and stamped them in Altenew inks (listed below).  These are outline images and so I decided to color them using Copic Markers (colors listed below).

To assemble the card I die cut a rectangle of the 80# cardstock with Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles and then laid the flowers and leaves out to determine where I wanted to stamp the sentiment, which is from Hero Arts Spring Hello, stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black, using the MISTI to be able to stamp multiple times to get a crisp image.

I adhered all the flowers except the large purple one with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  I decided I wanted a sky background and so I used the Inkylicious Ink Duster Bending Brush to apply Distress Tumbled Glass Ink from the upper right corner into the center of the card.  The large purple flower was adhered using 3M ½” Foam Tape.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was cut with the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles and added to the back of the focal image rectangle.  A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image was adhered with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Stickles Tidings was added to the center of the flowers to add interest and shine and the card was done.

First Waltz Thinking of You Card

Penny Black has some beautiful stamp sets for 2017 that create watercolor images.  This one is called First Waltz.

I used my ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color the stamp.  I placed a quarter sheet of Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper in the Mini MISTI, this allowed me to stamp the image several times to get the depth of color I desired.  I used the following colors: 027 Dark Pink, 024 Wine Red, 043 Oliver Green, 045 Pale Green.  I believe I stamped the image about four times.  Between each stamping I smoothed the color out with a #4 Silver Black Velvet Round Paint Brush.

After the stamped image was completely dry I scribbled some 036 Light Blue color on an acrylic block and picked it up with a wet paint brush and added a light blue wash to the focal image.  Once it was dry I die cut the focal image with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  I cut Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam with the same die and used my scissors to trim off 1/8” so that it would be smaller than the panel.  I peeled the protective covering from the adhesive side of the fun foam and adhered it to the back of the focal image panel.

The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted’s Fancy Sayings and was stamped using the MISTI with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  This allowed me to stamp multiple times to get a clear impression on the watercolor cardstock.

A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image panel was adhered to the front with Zookwang Scor-Tape.  As a finishing touch sequins from Pretty Pink Posh Sweetheart Mix were scattered on the card front and adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

Magnolia Rhapsody Birthday Card

This is another stamp set from Penny Black that gives a beautiful watercolor image called Magnolia Rhapsody.

I decided that the easiest way to get the watercolored look I wanted was to use my ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers, scribbling the color directly to the stamp.  I placed a quarter sheet of Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper in the Mini MISTI, this allowed me to stamp the image several times to get the depth of color I desired.  I used the following colors: 021 Light Carmine, 044 Deep Green, 062 Dark Brown.  I stamped the image multiple times to get the intensity desired.  Between each stamping I smoothed the color out with a #4 Silver Black Velvet Round Paint Brush. The last time I stamped the image I did not add additional water but left it as stamped to get defined shadows and highlights.

After the stamped image was completely dry I scribbled some 036 Light Blue color on an acrylic block and picked it up with a wet paint brush to add a light blue wash to the focal image.  Once it was dry I die cut the focal image with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  I cut Darice Adhesive Fun Foam with the same die and used my scissors to trim off 1/8” so that it would be smaller than the panel.  I peeled the protective covering from the adhesive side of the fun foam and adhered it to the back of the focal image panel.

The sentiment is from Penny Black’s Happy Thoughts and was stamped using the MISTI with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  This allowed me to stamp multiple times to get a clear impression on the watercolor cardstock.

A top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image panel was adhered to the front with Zookwang Scor-Tape.  Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh Sweetheart Mix were scattered on the card front and adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

Penny Black Peony Flowers Wish Big Birthday Card

Some of the new stamps from Penny Black this year make beautiful watercolor cards.  This image from the Peony Flowers stamp is one of them.

Since I would be watercoloring the image I used Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper and placed a fourth of a sheet in my MISTI so that I could do multiple stamping to get the look I desired.  I used my ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color the image, using two colors of red and green for variations in colors, see list below.   I stamped the image four times before I was able to obtain the intensity and clarity that I desired.  Between each stamping I used a Number 2 Round Black Velvet Silver Brush to smooth and blend some of the stamping and then I dried the image with a heat gun to ensure that the image remained crisp.

I got a smear of orange on the bottom of the paper and so I decided to use the splatter technique to add some drops of color to the card and disguise the smeared area.  This is the first time I’ve used this technique and it worked perfectly.

Once I was happy with the image I put the panel into the MISTI again to stamp the sentiment.  I feel this is particularly important when you are stamping on the rough surface of watercolor paper to get a crisp, clear image.  The sentiment is from Amy R’s Great Birthday Greetings.

When the panel was completely dry I ran it through the Sizzix Big Shot with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  I then cut a rectangle from Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock 1/8″ larger than the rectangle and adhered it to the back of the focal image with 1″ Be Creative Tape.  A rectangle of Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was cut with the rectangle die and adhered to the back of the focal image panel, which was then adhered to the front of an A2 Top Folding Cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Penny Black Gladsome Flowers Birthday Card

Penny Black has some beautiful new stamps for 2017.  I have been creating quite a few in the past week and will be posting them today.  The Gladsome Flowers stamp is a large flower bouquet that cover most of a page and created a lovely focal image.

I stamped the image on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink using the MISTI to ensure a crisp, dark image was achieved.  I colored the image using Copic Markers, colors used are listed below.  To help the image standout a highlight was added using BG0000 and BG000.

Because the image is so large, the sentiment needed to be smaller and fit in the corner of the page.  Avery Elle Cupcake stamp set fit perfectly and was stamped using the MISTI and Hero Hues India Ink Black.

The image was die cut using the largest die from Lawn Fawn’s Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  Darice Adhesive Fun Foam was cut just smaller and applied to the back of the panel for added dimension and interest.  The focal image rectangle was applied to an A2 Top Folding Cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

CTD433: Smile: Happy Looks Good on You

I ran across the Hampton Art Flower Believe Layering stamp set at Michaels a couple of weeks ago and liked the flowers in the set.  It made a pretty card.

I don’t often make a card without any additional rectangle layers, but for this card I decided to keep is clean and simple.  I stamped the flowers on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock using the Altenew Inks listed below. I hadn’t noticed it before, but there are only leaf sprigs in this stamp set and so I pulled out the Clearly Besotted Layered Chrysanthemums to add leaves to the flowers, stamping them in the Altenew green inks listed below.  Once I was done stamping I fussy cut the images with the Cutter Bee scissors.  I have other small scissors, but these seem to work the best for detailed cutting.

Once all the stamping and cutting was done it was time to determine the arrangement on the front of the cardbase.  A top folding A2 card was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  At first I thought I would only have three flowers in the lower left, but eventually I settled on five.  I stamped the leaf sprigs directly to the card front and began to adhered the flowers and leaves around them using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The two lowest flowers were adhered with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape for added dimension.

It was at this point that I remembered to stamp the sentiment, which is from Penny Black Happy Thoughts.  I wanted something that would be subtle and not detract from the flowers and so I stamped it with VersaMark Ink, added Ranger Detailed Silver Embossing Powder, and heat set it with the Marvy Embossing Tool.  Then one more flower was added to the upper right with a few leaves.

I thought I would be done at this point, but the way this layering stamp worked the flower centers didn’t have any definition and so I decided to pull some blue rhinestones from my stash for the center of the flowers and liked the way it looked much better.
