From the Paper Studio Glasses, Staches, & Ties paper pack I die cut the mustache and glasses paper with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes. I used the fishtail flag from the Silhouette Design ID #20957, sized to (3″ x 3 7/8″) with the words “wishing you a FAN(TACHE)TIC birthday!” added to the bottom. Then using the registration marks it was printed onto some Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock and then cut with the Silhouette Cameo.
The edges were then distressed with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink with a Tsukineko ink dauber to make it standout on the page. Three copper studs were added at the top for added dimension. The mustache is Silhouette Design ID #35293 and was cut on the Cameo with Gina K. Designs 100# Black Cardstock and adhered with 3M 1/2″ foam tape just above the sentiment. The entire flag was adhered with foam tape to the top of the patterned paper and the card was done.
I like to add some element of the card to the inside of the card, as well as the envelope as seen in the picture above.

I have a large family with lots of brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and good friends, in fact I have 99 people on my birthday list, so I am constantly making birthday cards. I find masculine birthday cards the hardest. I naturally gravitate to flowers and pretty cards, but that just doesn’t work for guys. So I put my thinking cap on and came up with several designs inspired by a couple of pads of paper I had on hand. Here is the first.
I pulled out The Paper Studio Glasses, Staches, & Ties paper pack and die cut the bowling pin paper with the largest rectangle from Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables. Since I wanted a sentiment that would tie into bowling I printed “In the Game of Life, You’re a Ten” in red ink on a side fold card base, 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock. Once it was printed I scored the card at 4 1/4″. The “Happy Birthday” was stamped below using Hero Hues Black ink and Papertrey Ink Boutique Borders: Mother. Before adhering the pattern paper panel with Creative Hands Peel & Stick Foam Sheets to the cardbase I cut the cardbase down 1/8″ on each side so the spacing would be even on either side of the panel, the overall size of the card was now 5 1/4 x 8 1/2″.
The star burst is Sihouette Design ID #13645 cut with my Cameo in Recollections red glitter cardstock. The Bowling pins and ball (Design ID #40719) were also cut with the Cameo out of Gina K. Designs 80# White and 100# Red Velvet cardstock. All the pieces were adhered together using Tombo Mono Multi Glue. The two outer pins were adhered to the star burst with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the center one with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape, along with the bowling ball. I covered the bowling ball with Glossy Accents for a little interest and dimension.
I thought I was done at this point, but the patterned paper seemed pretty dull so I covered it with Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen, which you can see in the picture below, although it isn’t quite as shiny as shown.
