Party Circle Die: Enjoy Your Day

The Distress Oxide Ink blended background really makes the white die cut sentiment of this card pop.

I ink blended a panel of Neena Solar White 80# Cardstock with Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Inks.  Using my guillotine cutter it was cut down 4 1/8” to 5 3/8” and Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut to 4 x 5 ¼” and applied to the back.

Simon Says Stamp Large Party Circle Die was cut out of the same cardstock.  A circle was cut from some scrap acetate using Simon Says Stamp Nested Circle Die and adhered to the back of the sentiment die with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  Thin strips of 3M ½” Foam Tape were doubled up and adhered to the back of the “Party” die cut.  If you remove the backer tape you can curve the foam tape around the circle.  Neat & Tangled Starry Night Sequins and Martha Stewart Blueberry Slush, Turquoise, and Wintermint Confetti were added to front of the cardbase and then the “Party” shaker well was adhered to the top of the ink blended rectangle.

A secondary sentiment from Hero Arts Birthday Messages was stamped below the shaker with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The ink blended panel was adhered to the front using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Balloon Bouquet Hooray It’s Your Birthday

I have seen a card made by Laura Bassen where she used watercolor paper to add color behind each of the balloons in the Simon Says Stamp Balloon Bouquet.  I have recreated that card in the past.  This time I wanted to try using Oxide Inks and sponge daubers to add color to the balloons.

I cut a rectangle of Neena Solar White 80# White Cardstock using the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  I then die cut the balloons from the same cardstock four times and adhered them together using Elmer’s Glue Craft Adhesive Spray.  I then would hold the balloon bouquet over the die cut rectangle to determine where to add the ink.

I used the same ink and daubers on a scrap of white cardstock to create a rainbow strip of color that I then used to die cut the Mama elephant Hooray Script Die from.  I cut an additional three word dies from white cardstock and adhered them together with the spray adhesive.  The secondary sentiment from Gina K. Designs Birthday Greetings was stamped on a scrap of black cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Darice Sticky Back Foam Sheet was cut 1/8” smaller than the stitched rectangle and adhered to the back.  The balloon bouquet and the sentiment cutout were adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the secondary sentiment was adhered using 3M ½” Foam Tape.  The focal image was then adhered to the card front using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Silhouette Stacked Birthday Cake

This wonky birthday cake image is the Silhouette Miss Kate Cuttables Birthday Cake.  I have a lot of stamps and dies, but I had forgotten what great cards can be made using the Silhouette.

I cut the image using scraps of Brown, Green, Orange, and Red Textured Cardstock for the cake, platter base, and candle bases.  Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock was used for the candle flames and decorative lines, along with the platter.

Copic Markers were used to add shading to the cake image, as well as making the inner flame pieces a darker gold color.

The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Birthday Circle die cut once from the gold mirror cardstock and two more times from yellow cardstock.  It was cut in half to create an arch rather than a circle.  The layers were adhered together using Elmer’s Glue Craft Adhesive.

The largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangle was used to die cut a piece of My Minds Eye 6 x 6 Wood Designer Paper.  A piece of Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller than the rectangle and adhered to the back.  It was then adhered to the front of a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back of the cake and adhered to the woodgrain paper.  The sentiment was adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the card was done.

Happy Birthday Bouquet

When I am stamping floral images I usually have leftover that I keep in a little box under my desk.  My granddaughter was over and using some of them and I decided to pull some of them out and use them as well.  It has a lot of different flowers from Simon Says Stamp Look for the Miracles, Gina K. Designs Peony wishes, and WPlus9 Freehand Florals.  I used some Copic Markers (listed below) to add shading and some Doodlebug Sprinkles for the center of the larger flowers and to scatter around the focal image.

I die cut a rectangle using the Winnie and Walter Audrey Essentials Die.  I love the scalloped edge that it gives.  To add focal interest I ran it through the Big Shot with a new Cuttlebug Embossing Folder entitled Charles.  I think the dotted chevron is very pretty.

I arranged the flowers the way I liked them and pulled out some Press and Seal to hold them all together while I added Tombo Mono Multi Glue to the back.  This is such an effective way to get your flower arrangement in place.  3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the blue flower for a little dimension.

The sentiment is from Gina K. Designs Peony Wishes and was stamped on Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.  The ends were cut into fishtails and 3M ½” Foam Tape was cut in half and applied to the back.

A side folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut just smaller than the scalloped rectangle and then adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Sending Happy Mail

My husband is on a short-term assignment in Kentucky and I decided to go and spend several weeks with him.  I knew that I would need something to do while he was at work every day, and so I stamped a lot of images on watercolor cardstock and took my Inktense Pencils and Distress Inks to color them.  The major problem with traveling and staying in a fifth wheel trailer is that the internet service can be spotty.  Unfortunately, the place we were staying didn’t have a strong enough internet connection that I could post any of my cards I created while I was there.  So, I am posting a whole bunch of cards in a very short period of time.

I’ve used a lot of the other images in Gina K. Designs Country Roads, but these mailboxes made we think of the phrase “happy mail”.  Who doesn’t love going to the mailbox and having some actual mail from someone you know and love.  It’s a simple card, but I like the way it turned out.

I stamped the image on Canson XL 140# Watercolor Cardstock with Distress Antique Linen Ink and then using a water brush pen I colored it using Brushed Corduroy, Fired Brick, Twisted Citron, Mustard Seed, Broken China, and Mowed Lawn Distress Inks.

Once it was dry I ran it through the Big Shot with a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle and then cut a slightly smaller rectangle of Darice Sticky Back Foam Sheet to add to the back for dimension on the card.  A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock.  The sentiment is a combination from both Simon Says Stamp Happy Thoughts and Sending and was stamped in Altenew Chocolate Brown Ink.  The focal image was then adhered to the cardbase using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Floral Bliss: May All of Your Wishes Come True

I finally received the Simon Says Stamp Floral Bliss stamp set and wanted to use it right away.  I stamped the image on Canson XL 140# Watercolor Paper in the upper left and lower right of the panel with VersaFine Black Ink and then heat embossed it with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.

I decided to color the image using my Tombo Dual Brush Makers: 873 Coral, 636 Imperial Purple, 743 Hot Pink, 723 Pink, 443 Turquoise, 249 Hunter Green, 277 Dark Green, and 177 Dark Jade.  I didn’t water the colors down very much and they turned out very bright and colorful.  I watercolored the background of the images using Broken China Distress Ink.  I applied it to an acrylic block and spritzed it with water so that it was a light, pale color.  Once it was dry I cut down the images using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles and added Darice Sticky Back Foam to the back to add dimension.

To focal image was then adhered to a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Pretty Pink Posh Enchanted Garden Sequins were scattered around the flowers and the card was done.

Floral Bliss Happy Birthday

I decided to make another card using Simon Says Stamp Floral Bliss and this time use a more pastel color scheme and a different layout.

I stamped the image at the bottom of a 4 ½” x 6” piece of Canson XL 140# Watercolor Paper with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed it with Gina K. Designs Detailed White Embossing Powder.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts Make a Wish Birthday and was stamped and embossed in the same manner.

I used a Sakura Waterbrush Pen and a piece of white cardstock that has been laminated for a palette.  I scribbled the following Tombo Marker on it: 158 Dark Olive, 195 Light Green, 055 Process Yellow, 098 Avacado, 533 Peacock Blue, 703 Pink Rose, and 933 Orange on the palette.  This allows you to water down the color so that it is more pastel in hue.

I allowed the focal image to dry complete and then added a wash of Broken China Distress Ink for the background.  Once everything was dry I die cut the image using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller than the focal image and adhered to the back.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the focal image was adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Sequins from Doodlebug Designs Blue Jeans and Pretty Pink Posh Sweetheart Mix were added with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the card was done.

Hello Sweet Baby Card

We have friends who recently had their ninth child.  I am amazed at the wonderful parents they are and their little girl Brinley is lucky to have been born into such an loving family.  I found the cutest little dress in a pale green and thought I would use that color to create this card, along with baby girl pink.

I began by stamping the cute baby image from Whimsy Stamps Wee One on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  It was then colored with Copic Markers: E50, E51, E53, R20 (Skin); RV10, RV11, RV13, RV14, G20, G21, G24 (Buggy); C5, C4, C3 (Wheels); Y02, Y06, Y08 (Bird); YR21, YR23, YR24 (Horse); C1, C2 (Ground); BG000, BG0000 (Background)

Once the coloring was complete the focal image was die cut with a Spellbinders Square Die.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was then cut just smaller than the square and adhered to the back.  A rectangle was cut from the Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Stackable Rectangles.

For the sentiment the word “baby” was cut four times from green cardstock using the Simon Says Stamp Baby stamp and die set and then adhered together with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  The focal image was placed on the rectangle, along with the die cut word, to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment, which is from the same Simon Says Stamp set.  Hero Arts Bubble Gum ink was used to stamp “hello sweet” and then the “baby” die cut was adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  The focal image was adhered to the white rectangle with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Green organza 5/16” ribbon from Berwick Offray was tied around the white rectangle and adhered in the back with scotch tape just below the focal image and then a small bow was tied and adhered with a glue dot.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock, however I felt like it needed an accent to highlight the pink in the baby carriage so I pulled out a scrap of pink cardstock and cut it with a paper trimmer to be 1/8″ larger than the white rectangle.  Both rectangles were adhered together using Tombo Glue Runner Dot Adhesive and then adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Mom I Love You Mother’s Day Card

I love the image from C. C. Designs DoveArt Studios Himalayan Poppy and decided to use it for my Mom’s Mother’s Day card this year.  She loves red and so that is what I used to color this image with Copic Markers: R22, R24, R27, R29; YG99, YG97, YG95; BG000, BG0000.

With colored pencil shading
Without colored pencil shading

Once coloring was done I die cut the image with the second largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  Another rectangle was cut from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock 1/8” larger and both were adhered together using Be Creative Double Sided Tape.  (I find this works best with the smooth surface of mirror cardstock.)  Simon Says Stamp Script Mom was also cut from the same mirror cardstock and again from Darice Sticky Backed Fun Foam.  I cut the foam with the sticky side up and find it works really well to add dimension to die cut words.

Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back of the focal image rectangle and then it was placed on a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Mother’s Day, which was stamped underneath the focal image rectangle on the right.  The focal image was then adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Gold Sequins were scattered on the card front.

I thought the card was done at this time, but the more I looked at it I just felt that it needed something more.  I had just watched a YouTube video about adding shading to Copic colored images with colored pencils and decided to give it a try.  I used my Derwent Inktense Pencil 0410 Hot Red to add shadows to the flower centers and liked it much better, but I still felt it needed something, so I pulled out my Sakura Gelly Roll Metallic Gold #551 pen and added gold dots to the flower stamen and finally felt like it was complete.

Just One More Candle Birthday Card

This is a birthday card for Jenna made with Penny Black’s Big Wish stamp set.  I love coloring these cute little people for personalized birthday cards.

The image was stamped on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored with Copic Markers (colors listed below).  As always, these cards are colored with the recipients favorite colors.  Once the coloring was complete it was die cut using the second largest Lawn Fawn Small stitched Stackable Rectangles.

Blue patterned paper from Perfect Prints Forever in Time 6 x 6 Paper Stack was die cut with the largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. Blue paper to match the patterned paper was found in my stash and cut 1/8″ larger and both were adhered together using Tombo Stamp Runner Dot Adhesive.

A scalloped rectangle was cut from the same blue cardstock using the Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Rectangles Die.  Darice Sticky Back Fun Foam was added to the back of both the scalloped rectangle and the focal image. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Big Birthday Wishes and was stamped with Altenew Caribbean Ink in the lower left.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the patterned paper rectangle was adhered to the front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The blue scalloped rectangle was adhered by putting the same glue on the back of the fun foam and then adhering it to the cardbase.  The focal image was glued in the center of the scalloped rectangle with the same glue.  Wink of Stella was added to the balloon and hat.  Neat & Tangled Pink Lemonade Sequins and Doodlebug Blue Jeans Sequins were scattered on the card front and the card was done.
