Striped Alcohol Ink Background Birthday Balloon Bouquet

This is the second card I created using a more controlled application of Ranger Alcohol Inks.  This is done by using  a Ranger Felt Pad, loading it with the alcohol inks and blending solution and dragging across the Yupo Paper in a diagonal.  They are so striking that a simple die cut really make a lovely card.

Yupo Paper is usually 5″ x 7″ in size, which give you a little room to select the best section of the background to use for your card. Once it was dry it was run through the Big Shop with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle. Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger and the two were adhered together using Be Creative Tape.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock. Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back of the background for dimension and adhered to the cardbase with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

The Simon Says Stamp Birthday Balloon Die was cut from Mirror Cardstock and adhered directly to the alcohol inked background with Ranger Collage Medium.

The word “happy” from the Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy stamp and die and again three times from white cardstock. They were adhered together using Ranger Collage Medium. The secondary sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder directly below the “happy” die cut.

A simple card design, but with that beautiful background it is really striking.

Rainbow Happy Masculine Birthday

I am really happy the way this card turned out.  I decided to my new Simon says Stamp Stitched Alphabet stamp set and used rainbow colors for the word “Happy.”  It made a great masculine card.

I colored the letters with Copic Markers (R29, R27, R24; YR09, YR07, YR04; Y18, Y15, Y13; YG17, YG03, YG01; B26, B24, B21).  Since this stamp set does not have matching dies I fussy cut around each letter and added 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape for dimension.

I die cut a rectangle of Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle die.  I wanted to place the word on an angle and decided on a strip of black cardstock for the secondary greeting, which was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.   I added a thin strip of foam tape so that the letters could tuck behind it.

I wasn’t happy with the way it look and so I decided to cut more strips of black paper in varying widths and adhere them randomly.  I liked that much betters, but didn’t like some of the spacing and so I took a Pigma Macron Archival Pen 05 and 01 to add lines and dashes and really like how it turned out.

An A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs Base Weight Onyx Black Cardstock and the focal rectangle was adhered with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.

Butterfly Birthday Wishes

I really love this Butterflies stencil from Simon Says Stamp.  It was a very simple card to create and I love the way it turned out.

I die cut a rectangle with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle Die.  I placed the stencil and taped it to the back of the rectangle.  I used finger daubers to add different colored Distress Oxide Ink in Broken China, Twisted Citron, and Squeezed Lemonade. The sentiment from Gina K. Designs Various Verses was stamped with Broken China Oxide Ink.

I decided to mat the rectangle with some blue cardstock I had in my scraps and adhered the two together with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back and then it was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

As a final embellishment different colored pearls were scattered on the cardstock following the line the of the butterflies.

Dresden China Birthday Cards

These are the last two cards that I made with the Jillian Vance Dresden China Quilt Die.  This time I decided to stamp my own patterned paper using the Simon Says Stamp Kaleidoscope Leaves Background Die.  One was stamped with Simon Fog Ink and the other with Memento Summer Sky.

These were very easy cards to make.  I stamped the background and then die cut the images using an A2 My Favorite Things Stitched Rectange STAX die.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller and adhered to the back.  I die cut the quilt from colored cardstock that was backed with Be Creative Tape and then removed the backing and adhered it to the card front.  For one of the cards I used a die cut sentiment and for the other I stamped it on the same colored cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.

Watercolored Mother’s Day Card 3

I was asked to help the 12 and 13 year-old girls in my church make cards for the mothers.  I decided to use a watercolor medium.  I stamped the images on Canson XL 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and then embossed it with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  This creates wells where they could only watercolor a small portion of the image at a time and it wouldn’t run into another section of the flower or leaves.  I created several card as example so they could make a selection on what they wanted to use for their mothers.  There are two cards using this stamp from Simon Says Stamp called Bouquet of Thanks, how appropriate for Mother’s Day.  These are the third example cards.

CARD 1:  I added some color at the base of a petal with a ZIG Clean Real Brush Markers 024 Wine, 044 Deep Green, 036 Light Blue and then pulled the color throughout using a watercolor brush and water. Once the watercoloring was dry I ran it through the Big Shot with the Pretty Pink Posh Winnie & Walter Audrey Essentials Rectangle Die.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back for added dimension.

The sentiment is a combination of stamping and die cutting. The stamped sentiment from Gina K. Designs Stitched Leaves was stamped on a scrap of pink cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder using Marvy Embossing Tool. It was cut into a then strip and 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape. The Mom word was cut from mirror cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Cole’s ABC Die and adhered to the lower left of the card and the sentiment was adhered above.

A side folding cardbase was made from pink cardstock in my stash. The focal image was adhered to the front with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  Raspberry Sequins were added to the font with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the card was done.

CARD 2:  This card was essentially the same with a little different because Distress Inks  Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn, Broken China were used for watercoloring and the Pretty Pink Posh Scalloped Rectangle Die was used to cut the image.  Pretty Pink Posh Clear Droplets were added for visual interest and the card was done.

Tarnished Metal Mechanics Birthday

On Splitcoaststampers.com this week’s featured stamper is Donna and I was inspired by one of her creations called Metallic Masculine Birthday found at: https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/2865710?&cat=500&ppuser=12992.  I decided to try my hand at a similar card using the new Sizzix 3-D Mechanics Texture Plate, embossing it on silver mirror cardstock and giving it a good tarnish with StazOn Onyx Black Ink.

I die cut a rectangle of Paper Accents Silver Mirror Cardstock with the largest My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX and then ran it through the Big Shot with the Sizzix 3-D Mechanics Embossing Folder.  These new embossing folder give such a deep impression and are amazing.  I took StazOn Onyx Black Ink and ran it across the surface until all the raised areas of the embossing were covered with black ink.

I didn’t want the sentiment to take away from the wonderful background and so a circle of Gina K. Designs Base Weight Onyx Black Cardstock was cut using a My Favorite Things Pierced Circle STAX die.  The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Detailed Silver Embossing Powder.  The circle was adhered directly to the mirror cardstock at the center of one of the gears using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

Black Fun Foam cut 1/8″ smaller than the rectangle was added to the back of the focal image.  A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs Base Weight Onyx Black Cardstock and the embossed rectangle was adhered to the card front with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.

Altenew Caps Bold Alphabet Masculine Hello

I needed a masculine hello card to send to a gentleman who recently moved into our ward at church.  I had been making cards using the alphabet dies from Altenew and thought that I would use the new large capital letters to die cut the word hello and adhere them vertically on an A2 cardbase.  I wanted to keep it clean and simple so I used some navy and gold striped paper from Paper Studio’s Be Bold…Be Bright paper pad and really liked the way it turned out.

The letters are very large and took up the full height of the card and about half of the width.  I die cut a rectangle of Gina K. Designs 120# In the Navy Cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle and adhered it to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The letters were cut from the Paper Studio striped paper and black sticky back foam.  The two were adhered together and then the letters were glued to the card front with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.  Easy and yet still striking.

Altenew Caps Bold Alphabet Die Masculine Birthday

I’ve said it before, but masculine cards are the most challenging for me.  I recently purchased Altenew’s Caps Bold Alphabet Die set because I thought it would be good in making masculine cards, and I really like how it turned out.  For this card I really like how the bold gold and navy striped paper looks when die cut with these large letters and adhered to the front of a white panel.

I die cut the letters from this striking gold and navy striped paper from Paper Studio’s Be Bold…Be Bright collection.  I then cut them again from black sticky back craft foam.  This makes it really easy to add dimension to the letters. I cut a rectangle from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock using the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundles of Stitched Shapes and laid the letters on the panel to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment from Hero Arts Birthday Messages, stamped with In the Navy Gina K. Designs dye ink.

Balloons from Honey Bee’s Celebration Box were cut from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and strings of Sulky Gold Metallic Thread where adhered to the back with Scotch Tape.  The balloons were arranged and then picked up with Glad Press ‘n Seal.  This makes it easy to keep them together as arranged and turn them over to add glue to back.  They were adhered to the white panel using Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the strings were wrapped around the bottom of the panel and secured with Scotch Tape.

The letters were aligned using a T-Square ruler and a long strip of Post-it Tape was used to keep them all together.  Tombo Mono Multi Glue was added to the back and then the letters were adhered to the front of the panel.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller than the white focal image rectangle and then it was adhered to a side folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# In the Navy cardstock.

Love the way this turned out.

Great Love Valentine’s Day Card

I send cards every 4-6 weeks to the young people from our church who are serving either an 18 month or two year mission for the church.  They are away from home and it is always nice to get a message of encouragement and support.  Since this month is February, I decided to sent a love themed card.  I love this Penny Black stamp set, All Great Things, because it has great quotes.  This one is from Mother Teresa.  We all can do small things with love that will help others around us.  The world would be a better place if we did it a little more consistently.

I die cut a large heart using a Spellbinder Classic Hearts die from Gina K. Designs Red Hot 120# Cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  I was adhered on the left of the front of a side folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Small white hearts were die cut using the Impression Obsession Heart of Heart Die.  I really like this die for small hearts since it has both solid and open heart.  They were scattered around the large heart and adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  Using the same red cardstock the word love from Hero Arts Stamp and Cut Love was die cut and adhered to the right of the heart with the same glue.  To add more dimension and interest I pulled out some heart dies from Papertrey Ink Heart Prints and Simon Says Stamp Holiday Shapes and embossed them around the large heart using the Spellbinders embossing pad.

A clean and simple card that has a big punch with the bright red and white mix of colors.

Wishing You a Very Happy Birthday

This is the second card I made with Simon Says Stamp Square Dance Stencil by ink blending the background with Distress Inks.  This time I stayed with only blue and green ink and used a different word sentiment die to complete the card.

The rest of the card is clean and simple, adding a die cut sentiment from matching blue cardstock and then giving a little visual color interest with Copic Markers. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink’s Text Block Birthday Portrait and was cut four time and adhered together with Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.  A simple and easy card to make.
