Peaceful Flowers Enjoy Every Moment

I saw the Sizzix Creative Background dies at Hobby Lobby and thought they might make some interest visual interest on some cards, paired with smaller focal image stamps.

A rectangle was cut using a stitched rectangle. Next one of the small background panels were die cut from the left of the card.

Gina K. Designs Peaceful Florals was stamped and colored with Copic Markers and then cut using the Silhouette Cameo PIXScan Mat. Foam tape was added to the back to add dimension to the image and it was adhered to the right of the decorative panel.

The sentiment was stamped underneath the focal image. Another rectangle was cut to fit behind the decorative panel and the same peachy pink color was used to add color behind the die cut. The focal image rectangle was added to a top folding cardbase.

The final embellishment was to add small pearls to the diamonds of the die cut.

Enjoy Your Day Tool Man

I have some guys in my life who like creating things with tools. When I saw this cute image from Lili of the Valley I needed to buy it. I printed the image with a laser printer on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock. Copic Markers were used to color the image, when that was done it was die cut using a Silhouette Cameo PIXScan Mat.

I wanted a background that would enhance the image and so I pulled out my Sizzix 3D Lumber Texture Plate. I ran some Gina K. Designs Warm Cocoa Ink across the embossed panel.

3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back of the image die cut to add dimension to the card. I only had a small space for a sentiment so I decided to use a circle die to place in the upper left of the card front.

Woven Distress Background You’re a Classic

The cars in Honey Bee Stamps Car Show make great masculine cards. This time I decided to stamp the Corvette with Ink On 3 Fade Out Ink and color it red with Copic Markers. Once the color was complete I restamped it with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Silver Embossing Powder.

Honey Bee Stamps You’re a Classic are the perfect pairing for these classic cars. They come with dies to cutout the sentiment. I stamped the first in Gina K. Designs Amalgam Ink and the secondary sentiment with her Red Hot ink.

I wanted something to add focal interest behind the card and decided on Sizzix’s Woven 3D Embossing Folder. I first cut a rectangle of silver mirror cardstock and then ran it through the Big Shot to add the embossing. Next it was distressed with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and then matted with Gina K. Designs Base Weight Red Hot Cardstock. The cardbase is Gina K.’s Onyx Black Cardstock. I’m happy with the way it turned out.

Gone Fishing – It’s Your Day – Celebrate

I’m always looking for good images for masculine cards and ran across this Gone Fishing stamp from Whimsy Stamps. I know a lot of fishermen and thought it would make a great card.

I stamped this image with Memento Tuxedo Black because I planned to color it with Copic Markers. Once the coloring was done I decided to make a smaller rectangle die cut so that I could add a wood embossed background using Sizzix’s Lumber 3D Embossing Folder. I ran Distress Oxide Vintage Photo Ink over the embossing to bring out the look of the wood. I matted it on a dark chocolate rectangle and then adhered it to a kraft cardbase.

Butterfly Garden Remake

This is another of those cards that I just did not like the outcome, so I decided to see what I could do to spice it up. I ink blended the edges of the die and the center of the butterflies and added white pearls for the butterfly bodies. I scattered some additional white butterflies around the card. And the final touch was to add some white dash lines with a white gel pen. Finally was happy with the result.

Birthday Wishes Masculine Birthday Card

This week the Free For All Challenge is to create a card with the theme “Birds of a Feather.”  I decided to pull out my Cuttlebug Feathers and Arrows Dies, along with Sizzix’s new 3-D Feathers Embossing Folder to create my card.

I began by die cutting some Kraft Cardstock using the largest My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle and then ran it through the Big Shot with the Sizzix 3-D Feather Embossing Folder.  To help the feathers stand out I used Distress Oxide Tea Dye and Vintage Photo to lightly ink blend over the raised surface of the feathers.  Later I decided to add a little Salty Ocean to the center of the feathers to compliment the colors used on the feathers.

I die cut the feathers from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and ink blended them using Distress Oxide Salty Ocean, Broken China, and Cracked Pistachio.  To help them standout on the card front I eventually decided to ink the edges with Salty Ocean.  I liked the feathers, but they needed a little something to add visual interest, so I pulled out my Tim Holtz Collect Stampers Anonymous Burlap Stencil and lightly pounced Salty Ocean Distress Ink onto each feather, which gave them an interesting pattern.

I wrapped some Gold Decorative Trim from Hobby Lobby three times around the base of the card front and tied it in a knot.  I added 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape to the back of the two largest feathers, glued the smallest in place with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and then removed the backing and adhered the largest feathers over the top.

For the sentiment I ink blended a scrap of white cardstock with the same colored used on the feathers, dried it with my heat tool and then stamped the sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Fair Feathers with VersaMark Ink and heat set it with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs Base Weight Dark Chocolate Cardstock.  The dry embossed rectangle was adhered to the cardbase with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  The sentiment was cut into a then strip and adhered directly to the cardbase with liquid glue and the card was done.

3-D Mechanics Masculine Hello

I really like this new Sizzix 3-D Texture Embossing Folder.  It is perfect for masculine cards.  I embossed it on Paper Accents Silver Mirror Cardstock and distressed it with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  Love the distressed/tarnished look it gives to a card.

Once the embossing was complete I ran the panel through the Big Shot with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX die.  It was then adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs Base Weight Onyx Black cardstock using Be Creative Tape.

The sentiment is one of the My Favorite Things Happy Hello dies and was cut four times from black cardstock, adhered together with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and then adhered with the same liquid glue to the bottom right of the card front.

A quick and easy card.

Foundry Masculine Hello

I was in need for some masculine hello card to send to new members in our church.  A few of the new Sizzix 3-D Texture Embossing Plates are perfect and create really amazing cards.  For this card the embossing plate was used on Paper Accents Silver Mirror cardstock and then distress with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink.

The VersaFine ink really does dry on the mirror cardstock, so I dried it as best I could with a heat tool and then ran VersaMark Ink over the surface and heat embossed it with Hero Arts Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.  I love the distressed look this creates.

The embossed panel was run through the Big Shot again with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle.  The sentiment is one of the My Favorite Things Happy Hello Dies.  It was cut from the embossed panel and an additional three times from a scrap of black cardstock.  All were adhered together using Ranger Multi Medium Matte and then inlaid back into focal image panel.

I was really happy with the way this turned out.
