Sniffles & Snuggles Get Well Soon

In the midst of all the cards I have been creating for the Online Card Class Spring Card Camp I made this get well card for a virtual friend of mine on Splitcoast Stampers. Jen and I have never met, but she is a wonderfully supportive friend to my cards. When I found out she had been sick I wanted to create a card for her, so I asked for her address.

Jen creates those cutest cards with great patterned paper and a wonderful focal image. I tried to recreate something that would appeal to her creative style, so I pulled out this cute image from SugarPea Designs.

I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink so I could color it with Copic Markers and the lines would not bleed. When Jen creates her card she colors her images to coordinate with the patterned paper she is using. Since we can’t go shopping for paper right now, I found some paper in my stash I thought would work and colored this sweet little girl surrounded by her stuffies in the colors of the cardstock. However, when I went to put the finished image on that cardstock it didn’t look good at all. I am no Jen in creating this type of card. So, I pulled out a double sided subtle pink patterned paper and used that instead. I added a thin border of plain pink cardstock to the back of the focal image, which was cut down with a stitched rectangle. I then adhered her to a scalloped white rectangle, added some foam behind for dimension and added it to the pink patterned paper card front. Not as good as Jen’s but still cute.

Celebrate Your Special Day Peony

This peony image is from Just Ink Line Stamps. It was printed on Neena Classic Crest 80# White Cardstock and colored with Copic Markers.

When I searched on how to color the peony I saw one that was a pretty coral color with ivory tips and that is how I decided to color this image. I like the way it turned out. I fiddled with getting the right color for the coral and eventually used a lot of different R and RV Copic Markers, but I like the outcome.

The sentiment is from Sugar Pea Designs Celebrate All Things and was stamped with Gina K. Designs Amalgam Ink.

I like the look of white on white with my cards. It creates such a pretty clean and simple design. I die cut the focal image with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle and added Darice Sticky Back Foam to the back for dimension. It was adhered to a top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the card was done.

Window Frames Flowers Time to Celebrate

For this card I used the Simon Says Stamp February card kit flower border, but I decided not to use the die cut windows die. Rather I created a thin rectangle of the same size to place the card sentiment.

I stamped the border onto some Canson XL 140# Watercolor Cold Press Paper with Gina K. Designs Whisper Amalgam Ink. This allowed me to have no line coloring using my ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

Once the coloring was completed I used a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle to add visual interest to the focal image panel. I added a thin mat of green cardstock to draw the eye to the focal image. I used the same green cardstock to create a thin border around the sentiment rectangle.

I rarely used the Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold, and Party die cuts because they are so large, but the congratulations word fit perfectly onto the thing rectangle in the middle of the flower border. I used the same real brush maker colors as the flower for the sentiment. A secondary sentiment was stamped with green ink just above the die cut word.

Baylee Celebrate Your Birthday With Cake

This card is for Bailey who is turning sweet sixteen in September.  I thought it would be fun to use this really cute image from Penny Black called Tall Cake.  The color scheme is pink because that is Baylee’s favorite.

This is a digital image that I printed on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock using the Silhouette Cameo Software with registration marks. This allows me to cut around the image so that I don’t have to fussy cut the image myself. Saves a lot of time.

I colored the image with Copic Markers (listed below). Once it was die cut I traced around it on the paper side of some Darice Sticky Back Foam and fussy cut it smaller to fit behind the image. I find this is the fastest way to add dimension to a die cut image.

I raided my stash of cardstock to find a pink cardstock that would match the Copic colors I used. To set off the image I die cut a rectangle from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock using a My Favorite Things Mod Rectangle STAX.  I love the curved edge to this rectangle.  I added it to the pink cardbase using Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.

I placed the focal image on the white rectangle to determine where to stamp the sentiment.  I used SugarPea Designs Celebrate All the Things since I could customize it to talk about celebrating with cake, which is perfect for the image.  I stamped it using two different colors of pink ink from Altenew.

The focal image was adhered using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.  So cute!

Stitched Flowers Happy Day

When I got into my craft room this morning I still had all the Distress Oxide Inks out that I had used to create a rainbow background yesterday.  I loved the way it had turned out and so I decided to make a couple of backgrounds before putting the ink away.

This card was inspired by a card I saw on Splitcoaststamper by Angie.  She had used My Favorite Things Stitched Flowers dies and created an amazing card.  You can see it at: https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/2875951?&si=stitched+flowers.  I loved the white flowers against her bright blue background. I decided to use a rainbow background instead.

Angie had yellow centers to her flowers, I decided to use white glitter cardstock so the bouquet remained totally neutral, since there was so much color going on with the background.  I love the way it looks against the rainbow background.  The background was cut using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle.

I arranged the flower bouquet, picked it up with Glad Press ‘n Seal and added liquid glue to the bottom flowers.  Three of the upper flowers were adhered using on layer of 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape, and the top flower was adhered with two layers of foam tape.

For the sentiment I pulled out Mama Elephant’s Script Happy die and cut it once from white glitter cardstock and another three times from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock.  They were adhered together using Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.  I placed the die cut word on the background to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment, which is from SugarPea Designs Simply Fabulous, stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gina K. Designs Detail White Embossing Powder.  The word happy was then adhered using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller than the rainbow panel and adhered to the back.  A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The rainbow panel was adhered to the front with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.

Celebrate: It’s Your Birthday

I was in need of some masculine birthday cards and so I decided to use the Sizzix Balloons and Cupcake die.  I cut it from both a royal blue and white cardstock I had in my stash.  Primary colors were used for the rest of the color pallet.

I decided to add some balloons with the cupcake and stamped the images using Distress Oxide Inks Fossilized Amber, Candied Apple, Blueprint Sketch.  I tied some Sulky Gold Metallic Thread to the balloons and adhered them to the back of the cupcake with some Scotch Tape.

A rectangle of Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock was die cut using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle.  The cupcake and balloons were placed on top to determine where to stamp the sentiment from SugarPea Designs Celebrate All Things, which was stamped in both the red and blue Oxide inks.  The cupcake and balloons were adhered to the card front using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  I decided that the focal image rectangle needed a little more pop to make it stand out and so I decided to mat it with some red cardstock that I had in my scraps.  I think it added the perfect splash of color.

For added visual interest I took a small waterbrush and painted some sprinkles on the frosting with the same Oxide inks.  As a final embellishment I added Stardust Stickles to the sprinkles and balloons and the card was done.

Celebrate Your Special Day Cupcake

I have always loved the Whimsy Stamps Cupcake Trio.  I don’t think it is available anymore, but it makes a great masculine birthday card.  For this one I decided to use my Finetec Pearlescent Colours.

Because the Finetec Pearlescents are watercolors I stamped the image on a quarter sheet of Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock with VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts Ultra Fine Detailed Clear Embossing Powder.  I then watercolored the image with the Amethyst, Orange Copper, Pearl Silver, Pearl Gold, Sapphire Blue, Caribbean Green pallet.  When the image was colored I added fine splatters on the background with the same colors and a small watercolor brush.

The sentiment is from the SugarPea Designs Celebrate All Things stamp set and was stamped with the VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and heat set with the same clear embossing powder.

The image was sized down using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle.  A rectangle of Gina K. Designs Onyx Black Base Weight Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger and adhered to the back with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back for dimension and it was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase base from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.
