Color Burst Daisy Happy Birthday I

My friend Denise came over the other day and brought her new stamp from The Ton called Full View Daisy Background.  She had also just purchased some Ken Oliver Color Burst Watercolor Powder and we decided to play with this coloring medium on this stamp.  I love the bright orange that was achieved by tapping color burst on watercolor paper and then adding water.

This is a big 6″ x 6″ stamp and I used a 4 1/2″ x 6″ piece of Strathmore 140# Cold Press Watercolor Paper.  I stamped it with VersaMark Ink and heat set it with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  It was large enough that I was able to get two cards from one image.  For this card I die cut a portion of the daisy using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle and then matted it with some green cardstock I had in my scraps.  I added Darice Sticky Back Foam to the focal image and adhered it to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs Base Weight Ivory Cardstock.

For the sentiment I die cut the word “happy” using Mama Elephant’s Happy Script Die from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and again from a scrap of sticky back foam.  I stamped the secondary sentiment onto a scrap of the green cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat set it with the same gold embossing powder.  3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back.  Both were adhered to the bottom of the focal image using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.

Alcohol Ink Background Butterfly Frame Birthday

I created another card with an alcohol ink background made from blues and silver mixative.  I had a small panel leftover and decided to use it to create another card.  I love when you can get two cards from one background.  I had purchased this butterfly frame a while ago from China.  It is interesting that when you purchase from there you usually aren’t give the name of the company who created it, so I just always note where I purchased it.  It is a pretty frame.

I die cut the leftover alcohol ink background using a My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle.  I used the second largest size and it was perfect to allow the beautiful background colors to surround the die cut butterfly frame.  I cut the butterfly frame three time from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and adhered them together using Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.  The same adhesive was used to spray the back and adhere it to the alcohol ink rectangle.

I originally cut the sentiment from Paper Accents Silver Mirror Cardstock and stamped the secondary word from Winnie & Walter Sentimental Birthday with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Ranger Detail Silver Embossing Powder.  I wasn’t happy with the way it looked, I felt it got lost on the background and so I cut the Technique Tuesday Say It Happy Die an additional two times from some Neena cardstock and adhered them over the silver “happy” cutout using spray adhesive.  I couldn’t do anything about the silver embossed word, but I felt that the sentiment looked better in white.

A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the focal image alcohol ink panel, but when I went to place it on the card front I felt it was too small, so I added a border of silver cardstock and thought that it looked much better.

Flower Bouquet Cutout Happy Birthday

I recently purchased the In Out Daisy Bouquet die from Gina Marie Designs.  It makes a really pretty card.  I like the way you can cut around the flower, as well as just cut them the center of a panel.  For this card I used both the border and flower die.

I cut the bouquet from a rectangle of Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock which had been die cut with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle.  I then cut the bouquet an additional four time so that I could stack the flowers and add dimension to the card.

I found some pretty pink cardstock in my stash and cut a rectangle 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ so that it would cover the entire front of a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  It was adhered using Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive Long.  This created a beautiful background color for the flowers in the bouquet.  I inlaid the bouquet into the cutout with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and love the way it popped on the page.

For the sentiment I die cut the Lawn Fawn Birthday Border from the same pink cardstock, using only the words “happy birthday” and adhered it under the bouquet with the same liquid glue.  The secondary sentiment is from Winnie & Walter Sentimental Birthday and was stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black just below the die cut sentiment and the card was done.

A clean and simple card that was easy to create.

Let’s Party

Michael and I decided to invite fourteen of the single women in our church over for a backyard barbecue.  Since I would need to make so many invitations I wanted something that would be fairly quick and easy.  I decided to use patterned paper and Lawn Fawns Party Balloons dies.

I pulled mint green and white cardstock, with a hint of gold accents from The Paper Studio Mint to Be Fab 12″ x 12″ Paper Pad and Fancy Pants Trend Setter 12″ x 12″ Paper Pad.  While it doesn’t show well in the photograph, a few of the triangles on one of the papers are gold foil and so I decided to die cut the word “party” from Winnie & Walter’s The Big, The Bold, and Party stamp and die set from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock.

To add visual interest a rectangle was cut from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock using a Gina Marie Designs Scalloped Rectangle.  For the balloon strings I pulled out the Honey Bee Celebration Box stamp set.  I laid the balloons on the scalloped rectangle to determine where to stamp the strings and then placed it into my MISTI.  This allowed me to have a production mode of stamping all fourteen panels with the strings, which were stamped with Brilliance Galaxy Gold Ink.  In my Mini MISTI I placed the secondary sentiment from Winnie & Walter’s The Big, The Bold, and Party and stamped it with Hero Hues India Ink Black.

Now it was time to assemble the invitations.  I added adhesive to the back of the balloons using the Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive Long and placed them on the card front.  The gold mirror sentiment was adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8″ smaller than the scalloped rectangle and it was adhered to a top folding A2 card base made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.

It went pretty quick and I love the way it turned out.

Striped Alcohol Ink Background Birthday Balloon Bouquet

This is the second card I created using a more controlled application of Ranger Alcohol Inks.  This is done by using  a Ranger Felt Pad, loading it with the alcohol inks and blending solution and dragging across the Yupo Paper in a diagonal.  They are so striking that a simple die cut really make a lovely card.

Yupo Paper is usually 5″ x 7″ in size, which give you a little room to select the best section of the background to use for your card. Once it was dry it was run through the Big Shop with a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle. Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock was cut 1/8″ larger and the two were adhered together using Be Creative Tape.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock. Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back of the background for dimension and adhered to the cardbase with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

The Simon Says Stamp Birthday Balloon Die was cut from Mirror Cardstock and adhered directly to the alcohol inked background with Ranger Collage Medium.

The word “happy” from the Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy stamp and die and again three times from white cardstock. They were adhered together using Ranger Collage Medium. The secondary sentiment was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder directly below the “happy” die cut.

A simple card design, but with that beautiful background it is really striking.

Striped Alcohol Background Birthday Cupcake

I have really loved experimenting with Alcohol Inks.  They make such interest and beautiful backgrounds.  Sometimes they can be more controlled by using a Ranger Felt Pad, loading it with the alcohol inks and blending solution and dragging across the Yupo Paper in a diagonal.

The die only from the Altenew Layered Cupcake was use to cut the shape from Mirror Cardstock.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut in the same shape, trimmed just a little smaller and added to the back.

The word “happy” from the Lawn Fawn Happy Happy Happy stamp and die and again three times from white cardstock.  They were adhered together using Ranger Collage Medium.  The secondary sentiment was stamped on a scrap of golden yellow cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  It was cut into a thin strip and narrow strip of foam was added to the back for dimension.

All elements were adhered to the card front with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  Pretty Pink Post Metallic Gold Sequins were scatter around the cupcake and adhered with Ranger Collage Medium.

Sweet Happy Birthday

Who doesn’t like sweet treats on your birthday.  I found this image on Pinterest from Mom Junction and really like the way it turned out.

The image was printed on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with a laser printer.  This ensures that the line do not bleed when colored with Copic Markers.  Colors used are: R89, R59, R37; RV14, RV13, RV11, RV10; R39, R37, R35; R46, R29, R24; YR07, YR04, YR00; Y35, Y32, R22, R21, R20; BG15, BG13, BG11; BG18, BG72, 0; YG67, YG17, YG03, YG01; BV17, BV13, BV11; V09, V06, V04, V01; Y26, Y23, Y21; YR23, Y19; YR24, YR23, YR21; YR18, YR16, YR15, YR14, YR12, G99, G94, G24; Y08, Y06, Y04, Y02.

When coloring was complete the image was cut using the Silhouette Cameo with the PIXScan Mat.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back by tracing the image with pencil and fussy cutting with scissors.

To compliment the colors used in the focal image a rectangle of Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow cardstock was cut to 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ and adhered to the front of an A2 side folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  A rectangle of white cardstock was cut using a My Favorite Things A2 Stitched Rectangle and adhered to the patterned paper using Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.

The focal image was place on the white rectangle to determine where to place the sentiment.  One of the “happy” words from Lawn Fawns Happy Happy Happy stamp and die from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and adhered in the upper right of the rectangle.  The secondary sentiment was stamped with Distress Oxide Candied Apple Ink.  The focal image was then adhered to the rectangle with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

For embellishment and enhance the sweet treat images Nuvo Crystal Drops in Carnation Pink, Red Berry, Dandelion Yellow, Ripened Pumpkin, Crushed Grape, Caribbean Ocean were added strategically.

Happy Birthday Cupcake

I decided that I wanted to used the Altenew Layered Plaid A for a subtle background to a masculine card and love the way it turned out.  The blue and grey color pallet is really pretty against the white.

I created a top folding A2 cardbase from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  I cut the Altenew Layered Plaid A die from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and sprayed the back with Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.  I really works well when you have delicate die cuts.

I stamped the Avery Elle Cupcakes with Distress Oxide Broken China and Hickory Smoke.  I enhanced shadows and the flame with Copic Markers.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back for dimension and adhered to the lower left of the card with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.

The sentiment combines a die cut word from Lawn Fawn’s Happy Happy Happy, cut from Silver Mirror Cardstock, and another three times from gray cardstock, adhered together with Ranger Collage Medium.  The secondary greeting was from Winnie & Walter’s Sentimental Birthday was stamped on a scrap of gray cardstock with Distress Oxide Broken China and cut into a thin strip with an angled end.  A thin strip 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape was added to the back and then it was adhered below the “happy” die cut word.

Heart Cupcake Happy Day

This is another cupcake design from Connie Fong with a couple of heart on the top of the cupcake.  I decided to color it with purple and pink, since they are complimentary colors.

This was a simple card to make.  I printed it using the Silhouette Cameo with registrations marks and then cut around the image.  I colored it with Copic Markers E53, E51, E50; V09, V06, V04; RV09, RV06, RV04 and added Darice Sticky Back Foam to the back.  A rectangle of purple embossed cardstock from Recollections Embossed Brights was die cut with a My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Stack and adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.

The word “happy” was cut from gold mirror cardstock and an additional three times with white cardstock.  On the white cutouts I cut off the upper loop that went over the cupcake with scissors.  All were adhered together with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  I placed the cupcake and die cut word on the card front to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment “day” using the Winnie & Walter Sentimental Birthday.

Twin Congratulations – Welcome Tyson and Savannah

My niece recently had twins at 32 weeks.  They are tiny and still in the NICU, but they are doing well and growing.  We are so happy for them.  I wanted to create a card that would be perfect for her new little girl and boy so I went looking in the Silhouette Store and found this cute little bear image.  I mirrored the image so that they would be facing one another, fused them together to create a card and colored them blue and pink.  It turned out cute.

I cut the all the pieces required for images from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock.  You could cut them from different colored cardstock, but they look pretty flat when assembled that way.  I decided to color all the pieces with Copic Markers (listed below).  I added little eyelashes and a hair bow on the girl teddy bear and a bow tie on the bow.

The little bears are hinged at the top and originally I thought that I would only have the cutout be the card, but it was too small, so I decided to add a scalloped rectangle cut from Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with on of the Winnie & Walter Audrey Essentials rectangles.  The bears were adhered with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  The sentiment was die cut four times from the same cardstock using the Sizzix Celebration Die Set and the top layer was colored in an ombre look using the same Copic Markers.  I liked this better, but in the end I decided to create cardbase from some colorful cardstock I had in my stash.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back of the scalloped rectangle and adhered to the cardbase with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.
