Have a Fabulous Birthday Jennifer

I’m having total hip replacement the end of October and thought that it would be best to make all the birthday cards for the young women in our ward throughout the end of the year.  All the cards I made for the young women are girl images, mostly from La-La Land Crafts.  This one is Fabulous Marci.  This is a digital image and was printed on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and then cut with the Silhouette Cameo and the PIXScan Mat.

This is a card that was made for Jennifer.  Her favorite color is blue and she has lovely long dark blond/light brown hair.  It was colored with Copic Markers (listed below).  To add some dimension to the card I accented the headband and roses with Silver Stickles.

To assemble the card I went through my stash of patterned paper and found this pretty Baby Blue Paisley paper from The Paper Studio.  It was die cut using the largest Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Rectangle.  Since the patterned paper has a little black detailing, Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock was cut 1/8” larger and adhered to the back with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  It was then adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The sentiment consists of a die cut from the Sizzix Celebrate pack, which was cut three times from black cardstock and adhered together using Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.  To determine placement the focal image was laid on the patterned paper, along with the die cut word, and the secondary sentiment from Winnie & Walter The Big the Bold and Party was stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  The “birthday” die cut was adhered above using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back of the focal image and then adhered to the card front and the card was done.

Ella is a young lady turning twelve this year.  She will be joining the young women organization the first of November.  She has two big sisters already in young women’s and if very excited to be joining them.  She has long blond hair and her favorite color is coral.

The focal image is a digital stamp from La-La Land Crafts called Birthday Gift Molli.  It was printed on Neena Classic Crest 80# White Cardstock and then die cut using the Silhouette Cameo and the PIXScan Mat.  The bench she is sitting on is from La-La Land Crafts called Garden Bench.  It was die cut with the same paper and colored with Copic Markers.

A rectangled of peach dotted paper was due cut using the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundles of Stitched Shapes.  A rectangle 1/8″ larger was cut with a guillotine cutter out of Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and the two were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A side folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the polka dot paper rectangle, the garden bench, and the focal image were adhered to the front using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold, and Party stamp and die and was cut from Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock and adhered at the bottom of the cardfront.  The secondary greeting is from Winnie & Walter The Big, The Bold, and Party Stamp set and was stamped using Tusukineko Brilliance Gold Pigment Ink and the card was done.

Night Out Eliza Birthday

Eliza is a beautiful young lady inside and out and her favorite color is yellow.  I printed the La-La Land Crafts Digital Stamp Night Out Molli on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock and die cut the image with the Silhouette Cameo using the PIXScan Mat.  The image was colored with Copic Markers (listed below).

I found some yellow polka dot paper in the Authentique Delightful 6 x 6 Paper Pack and die cut it using the Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes Rectangle.  To draw attention to the focal image an oval of white cardstock was die cut using the My Favorite Things Stitched Oval STAX and then dry embossing with the Darice Flower Frenzy Folder.

The sentiment is the Papertrey Ink Wonderful Words Birthday die and was cut three times from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The thickness of the cardstock ensures you have good dimension with only three layers.  They were glued together using Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and then all the elements were placed on the front to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment from Winnie & Walter Sentiment Birthday Stamp with Hero Hues India Ink Black.  The yellow rectangle was adhered to the card front using the Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  The oval was adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue, as well as the birthday die cut.  3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back of the focal image and then adhered to the middle of the oval and the card was done.

Sweet Bailey Birthday Wishes

Bailey is an amazing big sister and an example to all the girls in the young women organization.  Her favorite colors are blue and coral.  I printed the La-La Land Crafts Sweet Molli with a HP Laser Printer onto Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock.  It was then die cut using the Silhouette Cameo and the PIXScan Mat.  It was then colored with Copic Markers (colors listed below).

I found some coordinating patterned paper in the My Mind’s Eye Hello Gorgeous 6 x 6 Paper Pad and die cut it with the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  Whenever you are working with patterned paper it is good to give the focal image a neutral background, so an oval of white cardstock was cut with a My Favorite Things Pierced Oval and then dry embossed using the Darice Hearts Diagonal Embossing Folder.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  The patterned paper rectangle was adhered to the front with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  The focal image was adhered to the front by adding 3M ½” Foam Tape to the back.

A scrap of white cardstock was colored with the same coral Copic Markers used to color the skirt of the focal image and the Sizzix Celebrate Word Die “birthday.”  Two additional word die cuts were made from scrap white cardstock and all were adhered together with Elmer’s Craft Bond Spray Adhesive.  Before adhered to the card front it was placed below the focal image to determine where to stamp the secondary sentiment from Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold, & Party Stamp set, using Gina K. Designs Bubblegum Pink Ink.  The birthday die cut was adhered to the front of the card using Ranger Multi Medium Matte and the card was done.

Three Balloon Birthday

I ink blended a rectangle of Neena Solar White 80# Cardstock with Distress Oxide Inks: Broken China, Peacock Feathers, and Salty Ocean.  Stitched edges were added to the panel using the rectangle from Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes.  Another rectangle was cut with the same die out of Neena Solar White 80# Cardstock and then run through the Big Shot again with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border and Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller and adhered to the back.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock.  A strip of the ink blended rectangle was cut so that it would be the correct width to fit behind the hillside border white rectangle and adhered directly to the cardbase using Kokuyo Dotliner adhesive.

The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter Sentiment Birthday set and was inked with the same Oxide Inks that that it had an ombre look.  The extra space to the left of the sentiment was a perfect place to add three balloons from Penny Black’s Uplifting Balloons, which were cut from the leftover ink blended panel.  They were glued directly to the cardbase with Ranger Multi Medium Matte, with the exception of the heart balloon which was attached using 3M ½” Foam Tape.  Balloon strings were drawn in using a KaiserCraft Gel Glitter Pen.  Tombo Mono Multi Glue was added to the back of the hillside panel and adhered to the front of the cardbase and the card was done.

Power Poppy Ranunculus Birthday

I printed this digital image from Power Poppy called Ranunculus on Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock with a Laser Printer.  You do not want to use an Ink Jet printer because the lines would bleed when you colored them.

I pulled out my mini color wheel to determine what colors I wanted for this image.  With purple as the primary, blue and pink are Tetrad colors and so that is what I decided to use.  I colored the image with Copic Markers: RV02, RV04; RV06, RV09; V12, V15; V15, V17; BG11, BG13; BG13, BG45; G21, G46; Y00; Colorless Blender.

The sentiment is from a new stamp set I just got from Winnie & Walter called Sentimental Birthday.  They are smaller sentiments and can be used easily with larger focal images.  It was stamped with Hero Hues India Ink Black.

I die cut the image with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangles and then a rectangle of Gina K. Designs 120# Black Cardstock was cut 1/8” larger and adhered to the back with Kokuyo Dotliner Adhesive.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut with the Stitched Rectangle and adhered to the back of the focal image.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and then the front of the cardbase was placed in a Cuttlebug Polk Dots Embossing Folder and run through the Big Shot to add visual interest to the card.  The focal image was then adhered to the card front with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  A little Clear Wink of Stella was added to the flowers and the card was done.

Make a Wish By the Sea

There is something about water that is so calm and soothing to the soul.  I hadn’t used this image from Gina K. Designs By the Sea before and thought it would make a simple masculine birthday card.  I stamped the image with Distress Antique Linen Ink on Canson XL 140# Watercolor Cardstock.  This allows for no-line watercoloring and with a simple image like this one it isn’t too difficult to accomplish.

Using a watercolor brush pen the image was color with Brushed Corduory, Pumice Stone, Broken China, and Mustard Seed Distress Inks.  The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter Sentimental Birthday and was stamped with Altenew Dusk Ink.  Once the image was completely dry it was run through the Big Shot with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Stackable Rectangle.  To accent the blue in the image and sentiment a rectangle of dark aqua blue was cut 1/8” larger and adhered to the back with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A top folding A2 cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs Ivory Cardstock.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was added to the back of the focal image and then it was adhered to the cardbase with Tombo Mono Multi Glue and the card was done.

Penny Black Full of Glee: Watercolor Pearl Color Celebrate You

I loved the look of the FineTec Gold M600 Color Watercolor Pans on this image so much that I decided to create it again using Gansai Tambi Pearl Color Watercolor Pans.

My youngest sister’s birthday was coming up and her favorite color is blue and so I stamped the image on Gina K. Designs 120# In the Navy Cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  I pulled out the Gansai Tambi Pearl Colors Watercolor Pans and used the 734 Pearl Pink, 762 Pearl Cobalt Blue, and 751 Pearl May Green pans to color the image.  It turned out beautiful.

I used the second largest Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles to die cut the image.  To accentuate the gold embossing Paper Accents Gold Mirror Cardstock was cut 1/8” larger and both were adhered together using Sookwang Be Creative Tape.  I find this tape works best when working on the slick surface of mirror cardstock.

Neat & Tangled Celebrate was die cut with the mirror cardstock and an additional two times with scrapes of navy cardstock.  All were adhered together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The secondary sentiment from Winnie & Walter the Big, the Bold, and You stamp set was stamped with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The “celebrate” die cut was adhered just above with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  As a final embellishment Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Gold Sequins were adhered to the card front with the same glue and the card was done.

Sugar Rush Masculine Birthday Card

This birthday card could be for a masculine or feminine recipient, but I was thinking of a masculine card when I created it.

For this birthday card I used some plaid cardstock from Lawn Fawn Perfectly Plaid for Fall, cut it 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and adhered to the left of an A2 top folding cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock with Zookwang Be Creative Adhesive Tape.  To add a little more visual interest I die cut a zig zag border with one of the Spellbinders on the Edge dies out of matching cardstock from my scraps and adhered it with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

I had it in my head to use some cupcakes for this card and so I went through my birthday sentiments until I found one that I thought would compliment this theme.  I stamped the sentiment towards the bottom of the white space on the card front with Memento Rich Cocoa Ink. Since the white space was relatively narrow and tall I decided to stack some cupcakes for the focal image.  I found the perfect size cupcake image in the Winnie & Walter Sugar Rush stamp set.  I determined how many cupcakes I would have room for and began stamping the top cupcake in the same Memento ink.  I stamped it again on a full adhesive Post-it and fussy cut it with my detail Cutter Bee scissors to create a mask.  I then stamped the remaining three cupcakes in a staggered formation, moving the mask each time I stamped.

Once the stamping was complete I colored the images with complimentary Copic Markers, colors listed below, adding the lines to the cupcake liners and the card was done.

Sizzix Balloons & Cupcake Masculine Birthday

I think clean and simple cards are more masculine in nature.  This card was inspired by Echo Park Dots and Strips Red and Gold Cardstock.

The cardstock has a red background with gold polka dots and so I decided to use Paper Accents Gold Mirror cardstock to create the cupcake.  I used my bone folder to create the lines in the cupcake base.  For the frosting I used some Flower Soft Snow, which was pressed into a heavy coating of Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold, and Party Die, cut once from gold mirror cardstock and three more times with red cardstock from my scraps.  All were glued together using Elmer’s Craft Bond Adhesive Spray.

To assemble the card a rectangle of the Echo Park Dots and Strips Red and Gold Cardstock was cut with the WPlus9 Gift Card Layers rectangle, which takes up the entire front of an A2 size card.  The cardbase is made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the red and gold rectangle was adhered using Tombo Mono Multi Glue.  The bottom of the cupcake was adhered to the front of the card with one layer of 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape and the cupcake top/frosting was adhered with two layers of foam tape.  The sentiment was adhered to the bottom of the card front with Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

This card was easy to make, but I liked the way it turned out.
