After four years of med school, three years of residency in pediatrics, one year as chief resident, and three years of fellowship in pediatric intensive card Janae is finally done with her medical training and is off to a great job at San Antonio Methodist Hospital in Pediatric Intensive Care. She is an amazing doctor and we reap the benefits of her medical knowledge all the time as aging parents. We are so very proud of her and her determination and dedication to be the best doctor she can be. I wanted to create a special congratulations card for her and found this cute image by La-La Land Crafts.
I printed the image onto Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with my laser printer and the Silhouette Cameo software using registration marks so I could have the machine cut out the image. This ensures that the lines will not blead when coloring the image with Copic Markers. Janae’s favorite color is teal/aqua and so that is the color I used for the dress. She usually wears scrubs in intensive care, but I’m sure she will appreciate the doctor’s coat as a symbol of her profession. I shaded it with light gray markers to keep it white in color.
I die cut a rectangle from Gina K. Designs Tranquil Teal Cardstock using a stitched rectangle and then embossed it with the Stampin’ Up Subtle Embossing Folder which would be a great background to the image and sentiment.
I originally thought I would have a die cut sentiment block, but the amount of text I wanted to use in the space available just didn’t give a great cut, so I printed a message onto the same size block and cut it with the Silhouette. There are five layers of the block for dimension so that the focal image, which was adhered with foam tape, could overlap and rest on the word block. I also cut the Hero Arts Congrats from gold mirror cardstock and sticky back foam twice so that it would be the same height as the sentiment block. I cut away a little of the foam behind the letters that were resting on the image and word block.
As a final embellishment I scattered gold confetti around the panel and adhered it to a top folding white cardbase.
