Recently I purchased the Lawn Fawn Small Stitched Leaves because I thought it would make a beautiful fall card. I decided to use it for the encouragement cards I make for Safe Harbor this month, and I really like how they turned out.
I went into my scraps of paper and pulled out some burgundy, medium and dark green, red, light orange, yellow, medium and dark brown paper and ran them through the big shot with the small leaf die a couple of times. To add dimension to the leaves I ink blended the edges with Distress Ink (colors are listed below).
I knew I wanted to make the leaves into a wreath, but I was having a difficult time keeping the round shape so that it would be large enough for the sentiment I wanted to use. So I nested two circle dies from dark green cardstock to create a small ring. I took a strip of 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape and cut it in thirds so it would be narrow enough to fit on the ring and not show and then I placed the leaves on the ring. I tried to create a triangle with each color of leaves, varying the shapes and sizes.
Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock was run through the Big Shot with the rectangle for Simon Says Stamp Bundle of Stitched Shapes. I positioned the wreath of leaves on the rectangle to determine where I wanted to stamp the sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Look for the Miracles set. Sometimes, when life is difficult and we are struggling to make changes in our lives it is good to be reminded of the little miracles that happen in our lives. I used VersaMark Ink and Ranger Extra Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder, prepping the area with an anti-static pad before stamping the sentiment.
When I went to glue the wreath to the front panel it was just took stark against the ivory cardstock, so I used Distress Gathered Twigs to ink blend the edges and liked how it looked. I glued the wreath to the font panel with Tombo Mono Multi Glue. For the cardbase I used Gina K. Designs 120# Dark Chocolate Cardstock, cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″. The focal panel was applied using Creative Hands Peel and Stick Fun Foam in Black. I scattered some dots of Stickles Tidings and the card was done.
Since I always take three cards each month I created two additional cards with the same design but different colored cardbases. The brown cardbase is my favorite.
