Meow You Doin’ Happy Purrthday

My granddaughter Aurora is a cat lover and when I was in my local craft store recently I saw this stamp set from Lawn Fawn called Meow You Doin’ and thought it would make a cute birthday card.

Over the years I’ve watched both Gina K. and Yanna Smakula make their own backgrounds and decided to do the same with this card.  I stamped the cat image all over a piece of Gina K. Designs 80# White Cardstock cut to 4 ¼”  x 5 ½” with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then filled in any open spaces with the other images from the stamp set.

I used Copic Markers to color the images and wanted each of the cats to have their own unique look and color.  The following colors were used:  C00, C1, C2, C3; C4, C5, C7; BG000, BG01, BG02; R24, R22, R21, R20; W5, W6, W7, W8, W9; E13, E17, E19; E31, E33, E35; YR20, YR21, YR23, YR24; E77, E49, E17; E23, E39, E47; Y38, Y15.

I die cut the patterned paper with the Sizzix Big Shot with Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.  Because Aurora’s favorite color is blue, I found a some light blue cardstock in my stash and cut a rectangle 1/8” larger than the patterned paper and adhered the two together using Elmer’s Dot Runner Adhesive.  Darice Sticky Back Foam was cut 1/8” smaller than the blue rectangle and adhered to the back.  An A2 size cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# White Cardstock and the panel was adhered to the font with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

A thin strip of the blue cardstock was cut for the sentiment , which is from the same stamp.  It was stamped with VersaFind Black Ink, along with a little paw print on the left.  Aurora’s favorite cat is black and so another cat was stamped and colored black and then die cut with the matching die and adhered to the right of the sentiment strip.  3M ½” Foam Tape was added to the back of the strip and it was applied to the lower third of the card.

Love the way the card turned out.
