Spring Card Came 2 Day 15 Easy Shaker Sending Love

The quest designer for day 15 of the Online Card Class Spring Card Camp 2 was Kristina Werner. Her technique was easy shaker cards. She cut circles from her cards and added a cut die cut image. I went through my dies to see what I could use for a simple card.

I pulled out Mama Elephant’s Framed Artist Mat. It is a wide frame and 3M foam tape fit perfectly behind the frame, which makes it very easy to put together.

Kristina ink blended one of her cards, I decided to pull out a stencil to create an ink blended background. The hearts were the inspiration for the sentiment.

I die cut the frame and added a rectangle of acetate behind the center of the frame with liquid glue around the opening. I took a long strip of foam tape and folded it on itself to give it double depth and then added it to the frame. I filled the opening with pink and purple sequins and then pulled off the paper from the foam tape and added the stenciled background.

Originally I ink blended the background with the purple and pink used for the stenciled background. The center of the frame had ink blending on it as well and I used that to stamp the sentiment with the purple Oxide ink. I used the second largest sentiment label from Simon Says Stamp and then cut one end into an angle, leaving a little space on the left to add some die cut hearts. It was adhered to the card front with liquid glue.

I decided to make the card base smaller than the frame, but this left some overhang on the foam tape. I took a craft knife and ruler to cut away the excess, but I accidentally cut through a little section of the frame, so I used Un-Do to remove the sentiment and then cut another frame and decided on a softer blend to the frame. I liked it better.

  1. Hi Karen, I just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed watching your cards over the Spring Card Camp time. Beautifully crafted and fresh design. CarolG

    1. Sorry it has taken so long to get back with you. I really appreciate your encouragement. It was a wonderful class and I have a stack of cards that won’t fit into my container. I look forward to another one, but a little break is probably a good idea for my budget.
