Spring Card Camp 2 Easy Watercolor Washes Flower and Butterfly Hello

For day 16 of the Online Card Class Spring Card Camp 2 Ashlea Cornell was the guest designer and her technique was watercolor washes, creating beautiful, vibrant background with different mediums.

For this watercolor background I used ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Makers. They worked almost as good as the Tombo Watercolor Pens. I decided on pinks and purples for this watercolor wash. I also watercolor a small craft with the same colors to create the flowers and butterfly used as focal images.

I like this frame that was purchased online from a company in Hong Kong, no name given. It is a little shorter than the dimension of a standard A2 card so I ran the stitched rectangle through a second time, cutting off about 1/4″ from the length of the rectangle for an even border of background. I had to do the same for the cardbase, but it turns out pretty.

The frame was cut three times from 110# cardstock and adhered together with spray adhesive. Liquid glue was used to adhere it to the watercolor background, since it is a rough medium.

I decided to pull out the flowers and leaves for Hero Arts January 2020 Monthly Hero Kit. I love the stitched details on the flowers and butterfly. I arranged them in the lower left of the oval in the middle of the frame and selected a small “hello” stamp to nestle in the small opening on the right of the flowers. To keep the flower at the front supported low loft foam tape was added to the lower part of the flower that was not resting on the upper flower. The butterfly was also adhered using this foam tape.

For a little bit of bling Ranger Gold Stickles was added to the center of a couple of flowers, as well as the butterfly.
