Stitched Leaves Have a Grateful Heart

This is the second card made from Gina K. Designs Stitched Leaves.  Beautiful, colorful leaves are a hallmark of fall and this time of year is when we more fully count our blessings.  I send cards monthly to the young women and men from our church who are serving missions for 1 1/2 to 2 years.  This month I wanted to focus on a talk by President Thomas S. Monson called The Divine Gift of Gratitude, which was the inspiration for the design of this card.

To create this card Canson XL 140# Watercolor Paper was covered with Distress Ink Candied Apple, Wild Honey, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Twisted Citron, and Peeled Paint. Each color was randomly applied onto the watercolor paper by directing smooching the ink pads all over the paper. The paper was saturated with a spray bottle of water so that the colors would blend together.

When everything was completely dry an anti static pad was used to liberally coat the surface of the watercolored paper to ensure the embossing powder would only stick to the stamped images. The leaf images were stamped with VersaMark Ink, heat embossed with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder, heat set with the Marvy Embossing Tool, and die cut with the matching dies.

An A2 top folding cardbase was made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock.  A rectangle was cut from Gina K. Designs 80# Ivory Cardstock using a My Favorite Things Wonky Rectangle.  The leaves were adhered to the front of the rectangle using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive for the maple leaves and the two leaves on top were adhered using 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape.

The sentiment was made using the Paper Accents GOld Mirror Cardstock and the Simon Says Stamp Grateful Die.  The  stamped words are from the Honey Bee Thankful Stamp set.  A strip of Gina K. Designs 120# Chocolate Cardstock was cut to fit the sentiment.  The grateful die was laid on the strip to determine where to stamp the secondary words with VersaMark Ink and heat emboss them with Ranger Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder.  The die cut word was then adhered using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the sentiment strip was adhered to the bottom of the rectangle with the same adhesive.

The focal image rectangle was adhered to the front of the cardbase with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and the card was done.

I am a very blessed wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. I firmly believe in the quote by Dieter F. Uchtdorf which states "The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human heart." Every day I try to create something that lifts the heart for myself and others.
