Full of Glee Hello Friend

This is another card I created while coloring with Copic markers with my granddaughter. This time I decided to keep the flower images pink. It was fun talking with Emma about shading and the importance of adding contrast shading to an image. She wanted to keep to colors within in the same color family, with only a number or two different. I showed her how branching out just a little and going a little deeper with a color could really add depth to an image. We had a lot of fun.

This is a love image from Penny Black that I have used many, many times. Now days with Michael finally retired my crafting budget isn’t what it used to be. So when I purchase a stamp now I ask myself, “will I use this stamp many times?” and if the answer is no I don’t purchase it. This one is a keeper.

I stamped the image on Neena Classic Crest 80# Solar White Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, which is Copic friendly. Once the coloring was complete I decided to cut down the image with a scalloped rectangle die. I love the way a pretty die really adds so much to a white on white card design. I cut down some foam to be just smaller than the rectangle and added it behind the image for added dimension and then adhered it to a top folding A2 cardbase and the card was done.

Scented Beauty Watercolor Hello

This is a card I made while traveling in our fifth wheel trailer. It is much more of a challenge, because I don’t have everything at my fingertips and I only brought a few stamps. I did bring my new Karin Brushmarkers and used them to color this beautiful image from Penny Black.

I stamped the image with Gina K. Designs Amalgam Ink because it can be used with watercolors. To ensure it was completely dry I used my heat gun for a few seconds. The stamp really gives the shadows to each of the petals, so it is an easy image to watercolor. I added the concentrated color at the base of each petal and then pulled it out with a watercolor brush. After everything was dry I added another layer to intensify the colors.

I decided to frame the image using Mama Elephant’s Artist Mat. The challenge was that it didn’t leave a lot of room for a sentiment, and I hadn’t brought with me a small hello stamp. So it was off the Michael’s to see what they had. I found the Recollections Friendship stamp set that had the perfect small sentiment.

The mat was adhered to the watercolor image using 3M Foam Tape for added dimension. Then the panel was adhered to a top folding A2 cardbase. The final embellishment was to scatter a few black sequins and the card was done.
