Everything Wonderful Heartfelt Sympathy

A friend of our died this week from a brain cancer leaving behind his wonderful wife and their grown children. While it is tragic that such a wonderful man is gone so early there have been many tender mercies. He was given only three to six months to live when diagnosed, but he had fifteen months instead. He was able to spend time with his family and was healthy enough to travel, they even went on a cruise with their children and grandchildren. He was able to set his financial affairs in order, since that isn’t Luray’s strong suit, and he experienced very little pain. They saw doctors last week and were told there wasn’t anything else that could be done, but rather than linger in increasing pain for another few months he was gone within a week. He will me missed, but he lived with love, honor, and integrity, and his family has the hope of life eternal to help them through these sad times.

I pulled out this new stamp from Honey Bee Stamps to create a sympathy card. I like soft colors for these type of cards. I first stamped it in a light ink, thinking I would do no line coloring, but when done I didn’t like the way it looked. The soft colors did not give a well defined image. I had left the stamp in my MISTI so I stamped it again with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with gold. Added a heat embossed sentiment and die cut it using a stitched rectangle and adhered it to a top folding cardbase with fun foam for some dimension. Scattered just a few gold sequins around the image and the card was done.

I really like the way it turned out and I hope the family knows they are in our thoughts and prayers.

So Sorry Sympathy

We heard on Sunday that a friend of ours son passed away. He was only 28. Our heart aches for this wonderful family. I came home from church and made a sympathy card. I like soft colors when making sympathy cards and since it was their son who passed away I decided on yellow with accents of blue.

Altenew’s Beautiful Day stamp set is a layering stamp, but I like to stamp the outline and color with Copic Markers. I first stamped the image in Ink On 3 Fadeout Ink and left the stamps in my MISTI. This way you can color with Copics without damaging the tips. Once the coloring was complete I stamped again with VersaMark Ink and heat set with gold embossing powder.

To frame these beautiful flowers I used Little B’s Frames and added sticky back foam behind it for dimension. I arranged the flowers and leaves the way I liked them and picked them up with Press ‘N Seal, which allows you to keep everything as arranged and turn it over and add liquid glue. The front flower I added 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape behind for additional dimensional interest.

I stamped the sentiment with black ink in the upper fright of the frame, added a few gold sequins, and adhered it to a side folding A2 cardbase.

With Sympathy Anemones

This is the second small stamp I purchased from Nellie’s Choice. I stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored it with Copic Markers. This time I decided to pull out my LDRS Creative Scalloped Rectangle Set. I like this set because each rectangle has a different pattern, which look really pretty when you layer it.

The smallest rectangle has small dot, but they weren’t standing out very well with white and white, so I cut a small rectangle to go behind and used my Copic Markers to color the edges to match the leaves in the image. I think it helps it pop on the card front.

I stamped the small sympathy sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Tiny Words underneath the focal image, added some foam to add dimension between the rectangles and another clean and simple card was done.

Roses in a Vase With Sympathy

My friend told me about Nellie’s Choice stamps and the card she shared was a beautiful image so I order a couple of stamps, but when they arrived they were a lot smaller than anticipated.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored it with Copic Markers. Since it was so small I decided to die cut it with Gina Marie Designs Lacey Lattice Ovals. It still looked small on the card front and so I die cut the next largest oval and layered them together with foam between for dimension and separation.

I stamped the sentiment below where the lacy ovals would be placed and then adhered them to card front with liquid glue. I think is turned out to be a pretty clean and simple design.

Beautiful Heart With Sympathy

I learned in a Christmas card that a friend of mine lost her mother recently so I decided to make her a sympathy card. I pulled out my Altenew Beautiful Heart stamp set and paired it with a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Bouquet of Thanks. This is a layering stamp and I decided to use a gray ink for the outline. I took the mini ink cubes used on the stamp and created diagonal stripes for the background.

At the end it looked a little flat, so I took my Pentel Metallic Silver Pen and went over all the lines on the stamp and sentiment. It gave it a nice subtle sheen. It turned out pretty.

You’re In My Prayers

We all need sympathy cards at times and I like those that are simple and elegant.

The flowers in Altenew’s Beautiful Day Stamp are beautiful.  I stamped the image with VersaMark Ink on Strathmore 140# Cold Press Watercolor paper and embossed it with Ranger’s Platinum Embossing Powder.  Be sure to prep the surface with an embossing buddy tool to ensure the powder only clings to the VersaMark ink.  To color the image I used Winsor & Newton Winsor Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Olive Green, keeping the colors light by diluting them with a lot of water.

Once the watercolor was completely dry I ran it through my Big Shot with the largest Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Stackable Rectangles.  I cut a piece of Paper Accents Mirror Gold Paper slightly larger, which added a lovely accent to the edges of the focal piece and adhered them together with Tombo Mono Multi Glue.

I then stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts Prayers with VersaMark Ink and heat embossed it with Ranger Platinum Embossing Powder.

All was adhered it to a cardbase made from Gina K. Designs 120# Ivory Cardstock with 3M 1/2″ Foam Tape and the card was done.
